This is the best Mexican food we have found in the Dallas area and that's saying quite a bit since we have lived here on and off for over thirty years. The people are so nice and the creative offerings at Frankie's are amazing. I love their mole sauce on anything and my wife loves their brisket tacos so much she can't order anything else (though she tries my entrees and thinks they are outstanding.) Their happy hour drinks are pretty awesome as well. This is our new, favorite place to eat. Don't worry about the crowd if you find one; the wait will be well worth the trouble. Enjoy! read more

My boyfriend and I came to Frankie's on a Wednesday night at around 6:30 and it was PACKED! From the second we walked in, everyone we had interaction with was so friendly and so welcoming. Something that is very rare now. For being so packed, it wasn't loud at all. Extremely good crowd of people. The service is impeccable, and never let us run out of drinks or chips! The queso. We eat out a lot, have been to every mexican/tex mex restaurant there is and this is hands down the best queso I've ever had. It's like a white cheddar/jalapeño/spinach queso. I do not like jalapeño or spinach, and it still was the best queso ever. I had the Amigos Enchiladas, which is just 1 chicken enchilada, 1 ground beef, and 1 cheese enchilada. SO GOOD! I only get enchiladas at Mexican restaurants, and these were amazing. The ground beef enchilada was the best I've ever had. Now...the brisket enchiladas. My boyfriend had them just to try and get something different for once, and WOW! They are OUTSTANDING! Highly recommend. So flavorful. Wonderful crowd, awesome service, and WOW food! Love going here with the co workers for our payday Friday drinks. The raspberry margaritas are fantastic. They sure pack a punch for the value. Chips and salsa is good but salsa comes in a sample bowl. I always want to bring a larger bowl with me. Has a great outdoor enclosed patio area. Enjoy and have fun, we always do!! read more

I don't get the hype or popularity of this place. We have visited at lead five times, either as a couple or with friends or family. Food is mediocre. Best thing I've had is chilaquiles at brunch. Frankie's has a three locations in Richardson, Garland and Sachse. For the first time I visited Frankie's in Sachse shortly after the opening. Pork stew I've ordered was amazing. It had this original taste of Mexico, so different from Tex-Mex dishes so popular in Texas. Prices were very affordable, so after a year I suggested this restaurant to my friends for our night out. Was I disappointed! The chicken fajitas I ordered were burnt, but my friends seemed to be satisfied with their food. On our next visit I tried chile relleno. Chile relleno is a fried stuffed poblano pepper. It is supposed to be dredged in flour, dipped in the egg wash or beaten egg whites and fried. Mine was very soggy with poblano skin falling off so I ate only the stuffing which anyway tasted good. My third visit had happened only because my girlfriends invited me. That time my order included brisket tacos with rice and black beans. Beans were so salty that almost uneatable. One fact to know about brisket - it is the tough cut of meat and must be cut against the grains. The version used in the taco was "pulled brisket" - long strings of beef which were leaving the taco with my every bite. I believe there is no chef in the kitchen, only a few cooks paying no attention to the quality of food. And I'm afraid that the management doesn't pay attention either, because this place is pretty busy almost all the time. The one good thing about Frankie's - they have great margaritas! read more

The brisket tacos were good when we went, but not as good as Casa Milagro in Richardson. Their brisket tacos are amazing!The chicken mole is good. The chipotle enchiladas taste good, but the chicken seems like canned shredded chicken. It would be better with chopped chicken. That shredded chicken makes it seems cheap. The service is always pretty good. The jalapeno margaritas are delicious! Top notch! They are not too sweet and the tequila doesn't overpower the flavor of the drink. read more

I've lived in Dallas 20 years and this is hands down one of the best overall Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. Everything about this place gets a perfect score: the food, the cleanliness, the customer service, the atmosphere. The managers work just as hard as the employees and you can tell that they run a tight ship. The margaritas are amazing, and you only need one maybe two! The pork guiso and brisket enchiladas are 2 favorite dishes. Once you are a regular here, they make you feel even more at home. I love this place! We brought my sister to Frankie's for her birthday and we were blown away by the delicious food and excellent service. My sister says she rates a Mexican restaurant by how well they do their tortilla soup. She said it's the best tortilla soup she's ever had and I agree! The salsa and guacamole are so fresh and I could just eat the queso with a spoon. We plan on trying everything on the menu so we'll definitely be back. A coworker of mine recommended this place a few weeks ago and I'm very glad he did! I had a mango house margarita (the $14 price for the top shelf margarita scared me off) it was delicious and they definitely didn't hold back on the tequila. My boyfriend and I shared queso and some brisket tacos and we were both impressed. The atmosphere seemed a bit rushed. The Guac says it is made daily - it did not taste made fresh - it tasted like it was ordered in. We ordered the Fajita Combo - Shrimp, Sausage, Beef and Chicken. Over all, the fajitas were VERY disappointing. They lacked flavor, the beef was WAY chewy and the chicken was so very bland. Excellent service and the wait staff is Very attentive and everyone very friendly. The place is small and a little cramped and parking is the same. We will be back to try other menu items. We had read the good reviews but we're totally disappointed in this place.. The shrimp enchiladas were basically cheese enchiladas with 3 shrimp on top I asked for a side of beans and got a bowl of beans was charged for bean soup..6.25.. When I told the waiter he was very rude but finally took it off our bill. Argued with me saying that I had gotten bacon in the bean soup which was very fatty...... I am in shock, I finally found a place that reminds me of the old style Mexican cuisine of my raising. The ambiance is very mom and pop which I loved, the service is great with the servers always attentive to our needs and the food, oh goodness it was fantastic! The dish presentation is very nice, not your ordinary looks, it truly had an artist touch to the presentation. It was nice to have complimentary nachos with beans come along after eating the chips and salsa. For entrees, I had the Amigo which consisted of a beef enchilada with chili con carne, a sour cream chicken enchilada , beans and rice. My 3 other table partners had 1 burrito with rice, ground beef and beans, chicken verde enchiladas plate and veggie enchilada plate. This place knows how to do enchiladas right! I don't think there is anywhere else in the metroplex that knows how to make their fillings in the enchiladas as Frankie's does. That is my honest opinion. The chicken enchiladas itself was amazing, it is shredded just perfectly, same for the beef. I loved the chicken slightly more than my beef but goodness, they both were so good! My friend who had the veggie enchiladas was impressed with the amazing bounty of vegetables that came along with it, the zucchini was succulent. The burrito was grilled eaten up and the chicken verde enchiladas were eaten ujp. I had a taste of the green verde sauce, it was perfecto! We will come back and try other dishes. We discovered Frankie's in December 2013. We couldn't believe that a place like this existed in Sachse: the food was amazing, and our waiter was great. So we started going to Frankie's 2-3 times a week. Then I guess the awesome waiters quit, and we started getting average at best service. One time we asked for flour tortillas, and the tortillas we got were burned and crispy - no exaggeration. One of their waitstaff or kitchen staff picked up these crispy tortillas, didn't care at all that they were burned black in places, and served them anyways. Unbelievable. When I told the waiter the tortillas were burnt and I wanted fresh, soft tortillas, he seemed very irritated about it. Last week when we were there, we had Jorge the waiter. Jorge was happy to clear our appetizer plates - but ignored our empty glasses. He served our meals, and disappeared; he never came back to check and see if the food was okay or if we needed anything - and he ignored our empty glasses a second time. We didn't get refills until we got the check - and even then I had to pointedly ask him for the refills. So yes, if you're looking for great food, they've got it: the queso is wonderful, the enchiladas and quesadillas are awesome, and their bartender - he's always on the ball with service - makes great drinks. We still love the food, although the hit or miss service has cut back our visits to 2-3 times a month, instead of 2-3 times a week. read more
