Unfortunately I was very disappointed. I came here to get some custom mats for some fine art photography. I know I don't have a good eye for colors and I wanted professional help picking the mat, so I picked this place because of all the great reviews. A gentleman there selected a white mat for my white frames; when he showed me one, I just said yes and didn't ask any questions because I was trusting his professional opinion. When I picked up the mats yesterday, it turns out they were far from white (ivory, quite yellow) next to the white frame. I was surprised and asked the gentleman helping me why they weren't actually white. He was defensive immediately and told me I had picked it the color. I was quite polite and said yes, I had agreed to it, but I again asked for his professional opinion on how it looked, given I don't have a good eye for colors. He continued to be defensive and wouldn't answer my question. Given how defensive he was, I can only guess he could see the mats looked horrible and didn't want to acknowledge that? I would expect a professional to at least answer my question honestly and take some pride and responsibility for their work! And if he agreed it looked horrible, perhaps he would offer to discount a redo? Very disappointing and unprofessional! Plus they were expensive! Now, in addition to forking our for a second set of mats, I'm going to have find a new shop where they will hopefully be more concerned about the quality of their work. Hate leaving anyone a bad review - but when a business won't take responsibility for the quality of the product or service, it feels necessary. Also - i also just reread their yelp page and I see the offer of a 10% discount. I had told them I found them in yelp, but they did not offer me the 10% distinct! read more

I dropped off a newspaper clipping photo of my daughter & I last Friday to have mounted & framed. They said it will be ready for pick up this Friday, today, on Valentine's Day. I was a bit shocked at the $173 total for a simple framed picture, but it's a valentines gift for my kid, so I thought ok... well, now it's 4:15, still not done with it, & they asked me to come back in 40 mins. I did get to see it & it looks like my 8 yr old framed it. This place is a fucking joke. I shoulda went to Micheals & it woulda been half this price & been done already. Service was good and prompt, Min was very helpful and honored the Yelp deal, the consultation was quick, to the point and very helpful, a thing i appreciate a lot since i had just stepped out of work to drop my pictures for framing and was in a bit of a hurry. Once i get the pictures back i'll update this review. UPDATE: I got a surprise call from the shop telling me my pictures were ready... A whole 3 days before the initial ETA! I don't like to give 5-star ratings, but I can't think of anything that might have made my experience at Framexpress any better. I'd never had anything custom-framed before and had only a vague idea of how I wanted the poster I brought in to look. Mr. Min could have easily taken advantage of me; instead, he passed on opportunities to ratchet up the price and kept the project simple. For example, I asked him if the poster should be matted, which costs more. I don't trust my artistic sensibility in this area, so for all I knew, it should have been. He told me that matting wasn't necessary and then very clearly explained why the poster would be best served by just a frame. This is Customer Service 101, but it's not something I take for granted anymore. Other points: Mr. Min nailed what I was going for with his first suggestion. He honored a Yelp deal being offered at the time, even though I had yet to purchase it. He was very grateful for my business. He got my piece back to me three days before he said he would. And, finally, the finished product was beautiful. In terms of price, I'm not sure what to think. I knew it was going to be expensive, but I didn't do any shopping around and, again, this was my first time having something custom-framed. My poster is 51x76 cm; the total, with the Yelp discount, came in a little under $100. You decide! read more
