An owner/operated business that offers personalized service! Kristina framed 5 items for me. Two were Japanese cloth prints that I just brought back from Kyoto and the other 3 were less expensive pieces. She worked with me to bring the most out of the Japanese prints and to make the other 3 look good with less expensive options. As her website will tell you, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, to make an appointment. As a one-woman show, it takes a while to select frame type, frame color, borders, etc. So plan accordingly and make an an appointment. It took about 6 weeks for me to get everything back but that's fairly reasonable. Plan accordingly. Street parking is the only parking available. I had no problem finding parking but it is metered and can get tight as there's some cute restaurants nearby as well as the arts theater. Only glitch I had was calling Kris. She mentioned when I first met her that her phone was acting up. I left a message and didn't get a call back albeit she said she returned it and left a message. The second time around, she did call me back but left no message albeit again she said she left one. So don't take it personally in this day of technology mishaps! read more

My partner let years pass on a beautiful piece, I looked up on Yelp who was close and small business owned. I wanted to suprise her with getting her art framed. My kids and I met the owner and was given a 4-8 week turnaround for the piece. At 8 weeks, I called to check in and no progress was made. A family emergency occurred and I understood. When I called again, her voicemail stated she was out of town. I called again upon her return and she said she hasn't touched it but was going to finish it and call me within the week. Another 2 weeks passed and I called only to receive her voicemail that she was out on vacation. 3 months later and I have finally received the frame. It is underwhelming and way too expensive after 3 months for 1 piece. Especially when I had to continue calling to check in on the estimated time. I understand she is the only one working but hiring help would assist in the workload. It comes across that this is more of a hobby than a business. I wouldn't recommend anyone I know to come here. I bought 2 paintings on my recent trip to Split, Croatia. Came here from a friend's recommendation. Kris was very helpful in suggesting frame and matting choices. I wanted to get the framing done before I dinner party I was having at my home. She promised me to deliver the finished product by then (3 weeks). Kris is a one woman show. Owns the business, does the framing, billing. Does it all herself. I was very pleased with the framing. It's definitely not the cheapest frame place around. I know framing is very expensive. The framing cost me way more than the cost of both paintings. Even though the posters weren't in perfect shape Kris was able to frame them and make them look perfect. Honestly I was blown away by the quality of framing when I picked up my pieces, and at the fair price I paid I am even happier with the work. I tried using this place a couple of times over the past 3 years. I am fine art photographer. So is important for me to control cost. I was just trying to get general information pricing information has proven to be very difficult. It seems to me if I'm able to give General dimensions of a print that I can possibly price out what the cost would be for a simple frame. A rough estimate will work for me. It's not my shop it's the owner shop. She can do whatever she wants to do. My personal opinion she was not helpful. I feel like I know as little as I did prior to walking through the door. I have 25 pieces that need to get framed and matted but according to her I need to bring in all 25 pieces. I live about a half a mile away. I guess I will just have to keep driving over to Manhattan Beach to get my work done. I have a vendor in Texas that work with sight unseen able to give me ballpark prices for framing. Is another vendor I use in Manhattan Beach that's able to give me simple quotes over the phone while acquiring me to drive in as long as I give them True Dimensions. I have concluded that this person simply does not want my business. And that is fine read more

Being an artist herself, she truly appreciated the year of work that went into my cross stitched Santa. If I wasn't comfortable taking my piece into this NextDoor recommended shop, I would have walked out, but Kris immediately instilled confidence that I would have her do the work. As others have mentioned, framing is not rushed, but she made it perfectly clear it would be 6-8 weeks until completion, but she'd get 'er done before Christmas. Framing isn't cheap, I know that, and after all my diligent work, cost is (almost) no object. I never felt any pressure to choose a more expensive frame, mat or glass. She gently made me feel like it was my choice and unless I asked, she would do what I liked. The cost was about, slightly under, what I was comfortable paying. A great neighborhood framery (is that a word?). I don't usually frame my paintings so my experience with framing is limited, but I had an occasion where I needed a couple of paintings framed, so off I went down the street. Kris, the owner, is really cool and was very helpful in determining the right frame for what I wanted and I was very pleased with the results. If you're looking for bargain framing this isn't it; while her rates are reasonable (I thought), good framing ain't cheap, so ask her for an estimate before you commit. Also, this place is pretty much a one-woman show and sometimes Kris has to step out or whatever and you may find that the place is closed when it shouldn't be (something I experienced on my first visit). The hanger on an old painting of ours recently broke, and the painting crashed to the floor - fortunately, the painting was okay but the frame and glass seemed to be toast. I found Artistic Edge on Google, and dropped the painting by to Chris (Kris?) and she was able to save the frame and painting all in the SAME DAY, and gave me an incredibly reasonable rate (shockingly reasonable, considering typical LA prices). This place has the feel of a Mom and Pop kind of store - I don't know whether she's the owner or the manager, but it's just the kind of local store that should be supported in our McWorld, IMHO... She has a ton of art books on sale in the front of the store, if you're lookng for a nice gift. The art work she was exhibiting for a local artist was reasonably priced, so I'm guessing everything they do there, from framing to repair to sales, is reasonable. I recently obtained a bunch wonderful music memorabilia that I wanted to have framed. And the first thing that came to my mind was to check out yelp to find a local frame shop. I wanted find a mom and pop store versus going to a Aaron's or Michaels. If anyone knows anything about custom framing, is that It's not cheap!! And if you really love the artwork that you are getting framed, it is imperative to take it to a reputable frame shop. And after reading Duncan's review, I decided to check Artistic Edge out. What a wonderful find! As soon as I walked in, the owner greeted me with a smile. I showed her the items that I wanted to be framed, the budget for each item and the look I was going for. She then showed me the absolute perfect frames and it was all within my price range. :) It did take a few weeks to get my items back, but beautiful framing cannot be rushed. I used to go to a place down in Seal Beach to get all of my framing done, but they had gone out of business so I used yelp to help me find a new place to get art framed. Yelpers, you have let me down. First off, the place was a mess when I walked in, which should've told me something about how the operation was run. There are frame samples everywhere, it's totally unorganized, and there are just pieces that have been framed lying around. I thought that I wouldn't judge a book by it's cover and continued. I brought in two pieces for her to frame and she told me about 3 weeks. No problem. I wasn't in a huge rush. After about 4 weeks, I decided to call. Long story short, it took about 6 weeks for me to finally get my pieces back. She didn't do a bad job, but i don't think that she did a great job either. I personally think that her eye for framing and what looks good is not that great. Just my opinion, but I left the framing up to her, and I should've just gone with my gut. One of the pieces I'm going to leave alone, but I will be bringing the other to another framer to get redone. She didn't put a mat around it, cut away the poster board that it was mounted on (it's a vintage WWII propaganda poster mounted on a stiff board to help preserve it), and overall just didn't impress me. I came to Artistic Edge primarily because of the stellar reviews, but also due to its proximity to my apartment. I couldn't have made a better choice. During my consultation, I said that I wanted a basic framing job for the two mandalas I picked up in Nepal this summer. However, with some convincing and artistic vision I was steered toward a framing arrangement that I never would have conceived of on my own and I couldn't be happier (see photo I uploaded). This place truly does place a high value on "thinking outside the frame" so to speak. The result is an incredibly unique complement to the painstaking effort it took to create the mandalas. I wanted an artist to do my framing since one of the pieces I was having framed was a certificate from the trademark office trademarking the slogan I created for my company. I also wanted other corporate certificates framed and needed them to blend with our beautiful office space. I would describe myself as a corporate, creative artist. To my delight, I found Kristina is an artist in her own right and has a degree in graphic design. During the course of our visit she told me when she graduated (10+ years ago) she wanted a venue in which to display her art and chose framing to do it. My 5 pieces turned our fantastic! They are truly framed works of art. She suggested perfect matting and the frames were just right. I met with her during the holidays so, needless to say, she was quite busy. Since I did not need my certificates right away I agreed to wait and she gave me a discount for doing so. It was so worth the wait and her prices were more than reasonable. Had a very old print in a damaged frame that I wanted to restore. Dropped off at the shop and was cautioned that they couldn't tell what was underneath the old framing and backing. When I got the picture back, the frame was cleaned, restored, and touched up beyond what we could have hoped for. Protective glass was added for future protection. This place is awesome. I came in with an old poster that my boyfriend loves. He has put this thing up in every place he's lived in and the corners have tons of holes from pins and staples. So I decided to have it custom framed for him for his birthday. I checked prices at chain stores like Aaron's only to find that they offer mediocre quality for outrageous prices. Yelp lead me to the Artistic Edge. Kristy ( the owner) was very nice and friendly. She has a lot of beautiful choices of frames and mats. But I am writing this review because she was very willing to work with my budget. She was able to cut my cost down by about 30% just by looking through her scrap pile of materials. For my mom's birthday, I decided to have a painting that she absolutely loves framed for her. I didn't want to take it to just anywhere (read: Aaron Brothers or some other ridiculous place like that), so I did my homework and found this place in Long Beach. Logistically, I knew that it was going to be hard to frame it well. It had been rolled up for 30 years, some of the paint had started to chip and show damage, and the paper that it was painted on was also showing damage from being rolled up for so long... From the moment I walked in to Artistic Edge, I could tell that it was going to be a good experience. I could tell that the owner really cares about what she's doing, and the quality of the work that goes out the door. She helped me pick a PERFECT frame (which took well over an hour to pick), and even gave me a 20% discount when I admitted that it was more costly than I had anticipated. She was able to get it back to me, perfectly framed, in under two weeks and she even touched up some of the damage. Overall, the painting couldnt have come out better. She did an absolutely fantastic job. (My mom loved it, of course!) I would highly recommend taking anything you need framed to Artistic Edge even f you don't live near Long Beach. It's well worth the drive to know that someone else will care about your project as much as you do. read more

Kristina and her staff has done a tremendous job with framing a rare proof of Patrick Nagel's - Texas. In this contemporary design, they did a fantastic with selecting the best color for the mat and the framing material is the best you can find. The labor with putting it together to create the finished look is 100% quality. There are not too many proofs in existence and I chose Artistic Edge because They are the best in what they do.
