Usually okay experience but not today. I went in to shop the teacher section and put a few items in my cart. There were several signs stating 40% off. When I went to ring up my items it was only showing 20%off. I brought this up to the only worker that was there ( old lady) and she was dismissive. I kept telling her the signs say 40%off but she had an attitude and kept saying nonsense with a very defensive tone. I left acart full of items behind. We went to get some items for my daughter's school project. This store offers so many cool products for arts and crafts. Perfect for those who are crafty and creative. They always have good clearance items most are half off prices. Especially on holiday items. Best to get them on sale for the following year. I had bought two overlapped trays for long car rides when we go on family trips. Great for them to draw on, eat or snack on, and play games. Price was $5 each which isn't bad compared to online. Kept searching for them for a while and then found them at Michael's. I was super thrilled! Sign up for their rewards program and received $5 off for your next purchase. I had the pleasure of meeting Josh at the frame section. Josh is one of the nicest, knowledgeable and well evolved Gentlemen. I took one of my favorite pics into be framed. I was going to get a basic black frame, but after meeting him, I challenged him to come up with something special. Josh and along with a co-worker made some recommendations and suggestions. Bottom line, I picked up my art yesterday and was blown away by my Art. I hope Management recognizes Josh as a valued employee and being a Great Person!!! True confession Ideas are floating in my head and my creative juices are flowin a river (and I hear a song coming on ...like a river ) This 70 % OFF deal at Micheal's is so hard to pass up. Saw cardstock albums for $3 each, I purchased 4- 3 of which are fall season inspired, the other is plain neutral colors. I got cards lined up in my memory file (I better get crackalackin!!!) More Christmas inventory for 70% OFF are in my arsenal to make decor for Yuletide 2025. I even bought a Christmas wreath for $12, I am stoked! Alright folks! I gotta get crafting This location also has well stocked & organized shelves. Prices/tags marked accordingly & sale banners are clearly visible. I did not encounter staff to mention anything about customer service but they seem to be friendly & helpful to other patrons. I utilized the self check kiosk that I find user-friendly. Plenty of free parking to be had but the slots seem a bit compact sized. All in all, I can easily spend a couple of hours here if Hubby didn't rein me in or have more errands to run. Great visit. Restrooms are biometric designed (staff use their fingerprint & a code to let you in). The staff who let me in continued his conversation with a fellow worker without acknowledging me. You know how I feel about restrooms requiring these measures? Exactly that! Not Michael's fault but the community's.... but their restroom smelled a little funky, plus no paper towels. You would think with Hobby Lobby across the parking lot they would try to keep the customers they have! I have been a Michaels customer for over 30 years and I have never felt so unappreciated!! Your WIFI which I was on while I was in your store would not let me sign into your app. I know my password works bc I was just on it earlier in the day. When I went to check out however I had been unable to sign in again. Your sales reps solution was to void my sale and have me stand outside in the rain to try gain access to the internet! I COULD SEE YOUR MICHAELS WIFI ON MY PHONE! Your sales rep didn't want me holding up her line any longer!!! She would not allow me to use any of your coupons unless I was signed in!! Any time I go to Michaels, I can always find what I need. I am part of the rewards program which I highly recommend you do, so you can receive coupons for future purchases. This location is located across the street from the Lakewood mall. It is in a small plaza with plenty of parking for you. Staff is great here and they always help you when you are looking for that next project. Store is always clean and has great seasonal items for each holiday in stock. They have a variety of card stock and Cricut merchandise for you to enjoy. There are self check outs that accept card so highly recommend that because it does get busy. Overall, great store, great staff, and a great location. I went into the store today and I bought about $100 worth of supplies. I was at self checkout while the older woman at the register was helping out a customer. After that customer walked away, the worker went from behind the register and walked in front of it, standing just a few feet from me. I'm not entirely sure if her intention was to watch me scan all my items, but it made me uncomfortable since I could see her standing there facing me with her hands holding behind her back with no other clear motive other than to just watch me. I understand not wanting someone to steal from the store, but I wish she had at least done so discreetly or asked if i needed help especially since we were the only two people in that area. I hope whoever reads this will train their employees to try a different approach or to at least be mindful of how situations like this may come across. read more

My to-go Michaels store! I come here often, mostly to pick up online orders now as they've made it super convenient to just walk in and pick up your item when you enter the store. Try to take advantage of the coupons they have available online! They normally always have one up on their website. Occasionally they'll have a 40% coupon available which I use to purchase their EVA and modeling foam. I use this foam for cosplay and it's especially excellent for its price point (even without the coupon). Competitive against online retailers for foam. This location is well-organized and has plenty of room to walk around in. I've never found it overly crowded which is nice. Never really had issues finding what I need as it's also well-stocked. My only complaint, that apparently is an issue at most locations, is that they typically only have one person to run the registers. This wouldn't be an issue if you're only checking out, but sometimes I need to make a return and they only do it at the registers, so this can be a long process. But the employees have always been polite with me and the overall experience is pretty pleasant. read more

Over the years the service has been either great or I'm a complete burden. Either they have horrible theft issues or they need to do some serious inventory assessments. Nearly every time I place for a pickup, 1 or more items are canceled. Leaving me to drive there for an unfulfilled order. Another BIG Issue is that the discount I go for, when available, is online only. Otherwise I'd shop in store and avoid this disappointment. Today, more than enough staff than I've seen before (4 that I counted) it took almost 4 hours from the time they opened until I was notified my order was, well I should say, PART of my order was ready for pick up. Over the years my pick up orders were almost always ready within the first hour that they opened. I'm tired of it Michael's. The inventory problem is not just this location. Downey, too. I drove across town only to find my major item was in fact not in stock. Michael's spends more time refunding me than I'm sure they wish but obviously something needs to be done. Next time, I'll cancel my entire order and go elsewhere since it's not worth my time if my "in stock" items are in fact, not. read more

By far the WORST Michaels ever. Every time I come to this location it's something. They are always out of items. And customer service is terrible. I've been to Michael's before, grabbed balloons and had them blown up on the spot. This time after being told to grab balloons and wait in line, I finally get to the cashier for her to tell me the wait is 30mins to an hour to have the balloons blown up. Are you kidding me?! She said she was the only person. As I see 3 other workers walking around. I asked if anyone else can blow up balloons but nope. Only that 1 cashier can blow up balloons. What a joke! Very nice store, extremely helpful employees. I went in last night and was help by a lovely lady who was stocking away on the craft section (she was wearing the adorable rhinestone devil horns). I was looking for plastic masquerade masks, which they don't carry. She still took the time to talk crafts with me and had some really good insight. Sometimes I love to talk to sales associates about my projects, you see their artistic side come out. The store is having amazing sales on Christmas decor, and they have an ample variety. I go and I order online from Michael's a lot so Michael's is typically good with me but not this last encounter at the Lakewood location (a store I don't usually go to). I ordered just one T-shirt online to pick-up. Typically the order is pulled immediately in my experience (at the ones I shop). I never received an email to pick up but decided to go in anyway to just get It myself. WELL there was a lot of RIGAMAROLE! Yes, I said that. The two ladies that attempted to assist were not very helpful or assuring on if I will be able to get my item. Online, it clearly stated there were 5 available. When I go to the store 4 hours later, I went to the aisle and there were not a one! What gives? I know systems may not update quickly but this was ridiculous. So the first young girl shooed me away with a "good luck" attitude and the second older lady told me that she couldn't check in the back for my or any shirts because she had to help online customers that were before me. What? I wasn't understanding this explanation unless I misheard because clearly I was before those people because I was in the store! In any event, she didn't assist me or handle it is a professional or managerial manner. I don't think she was a manager for a manager would not disregard a customer standing in from of her to help invisible online customers first. I want be clear, neither of the ladies were rude, just dismissive and not helpful. As a result, I went across to street to Hobby Lobby and give my money to them. The service is selective. On more than one occasion I've walked in without a greeting but ppl after me were greeted. I went in to buy a leopard print paper. The selection has def gone done. Very little of anything, no stamps, paper pads, paper crafting in general. I went next door to Hobby Lobby. They had the leopard print paper in more than one pattern. An aisle full of variety. Plenty of associates, plenty of stock. I'm sorry but I will not be returning to Michael's. read more

It's easy to get roped in by these signs proclaiming : 80%, 40% or 30% off items. Most of them are premade wreaths that look TOO seasonal, if you get my drift. Do the math though and I highly doubt that you're getting any bargain. It's currently back to school, Fall and Halloween decors galore. Seeing a huge display is very exciting, but remember you're only taking home one or two items to either place on your coffee table or office desk. I have been shopping here at Michael's in Lakewood, CA since I discovered their Cake Decorating Classes with Lakyn in 2010. The Cake Decorating Classes have been discontinued for quite some time, but they do offer arts and crafts classes. Unfortunately I no longer have time for the arts classes. However I do visit from time to time for cake decorating, art supplies, and frames. Recently, I went to Michael's to get four pictures professionally custom framed for my 2019 OC Fair Photo Contest Entries. Several Staff Members from the Custom Framing Department helped me, including Melissa. They were all so helpful and courteous, and gave me great deals on frames, mats, and the plexiglass, which were to fulfill the rules and requirements of the OC Fair Photo Contest. I dropped off my four prints to Melissa at Michael's on June 13th. Melissa was able to apply to current sale prices and coupons to my order, for the best deals! Michael's Framing were so fast at getting my order completed quickly and beautifully on June 16th! I returned on June 17th to pick up my orders, and I was very pleased! However when I returned home on that night, the installed hanging wire attachment on one of the frames came loose! Oh no! So I returned on June 18th, and it was fixed perfectly! Now all four of my pictures are Gallery Ready for the 2019 OC Fair Photo Contest, all at a great deal! We have had custom framing done here previously, and we are always pleased with the consistent excellent results and customer service. I got a phone call and went to pick it up today. They do great work. It was the 70% off sale. I saved hundreds of dollars. My picture looks great. Came to this location on 04/18/21 around 4:00p.m. to return two items. There was only one cashier but there was only one person in line so there wasn't a really long wait. The cashier was really nice especially since I accidentally gave her the wrong receipt. She had a bunch of anime pins on her apron. It got pretty busy though when she was helping me. I wasn't able to look around since in a hurry but this location is pretty clean and organized. It was very bright and cool inside. The front area was very nice to look at as well. I have always been a fan of crocheting since I was 10 years old I was shown a few points by my cousin she showed me her knitted and crocheted Barbie doll clothes and hats man I was hooked. I'm self taught so my hand made items aren't fancy but they are made with love.. This review is long over due.. I have shopped here about 10 years and regularly shop at this location... I can go nuts in this store buying out complete lots of yarn at a time the lot numbers vary in color so it's important to buy all that you need at that time lot colors can be off by a shade and really mess up a look especially if you are doing a solid color. So far I'm lucky I buy 10-15 rolls at a time always making sure the lot numbers match and visually looking at the colors for imperfections...depending on how large a bedspread that I'm making. Whoever supplies this store buys the best quality yarn and it sells for a fair price a lot of times I get it on sale for making that patchwork look that I really like. The needle selection for knitting or crocheting is pretty good I have about every available size from fine point to xxx wide crochet needles. I don't use patterns but they have an awesome selection for making quilts baby blankets and more.. Crafting materials for making photo albums and scrapbooking interest me lately I'm going to buy all the supplies for that here as well. I bought a few scrapbooks but haven't decorated them yet. Sewing supplies are in big supply here I'm always buying something I love to hem and make clothes for my stuffed animals,my dolls and gifts for family and friends. I made my gf's dog a poncho. I crocheted it in two hours everything the yarn and lace included was bought at this store. See the picture below a Golden Retriever named Big girl she looked so cute just pretty in pink she loved that poncho. I found Christmas tins to fill with cookies bereavement books,wedding and guest books fancy lace and so much more always in stock whatever they don't have they will special order it for you. The store is well stocked and packed from aisle to aisle and it's crowded finding what you need is challenging at times but in looking you also see and find items you didn't know they had.. I had an amazing experience today. For at least the last week and a half it showed the store had a journal I really want. I went once looking through everything for it 2 days ago and Jessica couldn't find it. I went back today in hopes I could find it. I looked all over and essentially gave up. When I walked back towards that area I asked a tall Hispanic associate if he could try and help me locate a different item (a sticker book) I was interested in. He asked if I looked with the rest of them I said yes. He grabbed a box and asked me to show him a photo of the item and we found it right away and got excited. I asked if he could help find one more item, he joked with me and said oh no I found one now here comes 10 more. We both laughed. I gave him the item number and assured him it wasn't on the floor already so he grabbed a different box and started looking through it, the instant he started shuffling stuff around I saw a glimpse of the cover and my little hand wiggled it's way down and pulled it out. This kind of customer service is amazing it was pretty busy considering it is Sunday so I'm beyond impressed with the level of service I received. I wish I would have gotten his name. The cashier, I believe his name may be Christian, was super nice and friendly. He had a warm greeting and got me checked out quickly. Both of these gentlemen are awesome. I have a painting that I needed a frame for and was not sure of the style to get. When I got to the Michaels store at 4000 Hardwick Street, Lakewood, CA I did not know that I was walking in to one of the best customer service experiences I have had in many years. The person working in the frame department was helpful, attentive, knowledgeable, patient, extremely polite and creative and he goes by the name Anthony. It is very hard to find this quality of a person and I am so thankful he was there that day. I went to the Michael's on Hardwick in the City of Lakewood. The sales associates are friendly and helpful. I went there to pick up 3 floating frames and when I could not find them the associate helped me find it and was apologetic that it was not at the right place.
