I heard great things about this place so I'm really disappointed that the first time I went wasn't a good experience. I chose the standard option to develop and scan my film. It said standard is 4.5MB which is good for social media and is also close in size to what I usually get when going to a different place. When I got the scans back, they were so blurry when I zoomed in. It was misleading because the size of the downloads were 1MB or less. I'm not using these photos and ended up getting them rescanned elsewhere and having to pay more. I'm not sure if this was a mistake or if this has happened to anyone else. read more

This is my favorite camera shop. I come here often so that I can develop my 35mm film and buy some new film as well. They have a ton of camera products you could buy such as lens, camera bags, at home developing solutions, tripods, and so much more! All of the workers are knowledgeable in cameras and they have been able to help me recently with a point and shoot 35mm film camera that wouldn't rewind and they helped me save my film and I was able to get it processed and the pictures came back amazing! The worker also told me about new cameras that they were going to get in stock. He let me try out some of the cameras in case I was curious about buying. It's always a friendly environment when I walk in. The Cameras are reasonably priced. The film developing is also a fair price. I know that there are other places that are a bit cheaper, but because of the location I choose to come here and I've always enjoy the experience. For film development specifically: I have bought both black and white and color film. They have a wall full of film variety you can choose from such as the classics Kodak, Cinestill, ilford and a load of experimental film. The price for developing only is $8.25. Color film is a bit cheaper than black and white if you plan on printing your pictures, printed color film is $.49 per picture and black and white is $.89. read more

I really love the film selection but the shipping is extremely high. I originally bought all my Mr.Negative film from them directly(Australia) the flat rate shipping is $15... so for you guys to be in California and the flat rate shipping to also be $15 is strange to me. Also just frustrating that the two orders I placed the usps shipping labels were $6 and $9. Shipping has always been pretty fast and I really appreciate that. read more

Saw from other Yelp reviews that Tuttle Cameras can take passport photos. I came in over the weekend in the afternoon. There weren't a lot of customers but there was a lot of staff, so I waited to be helped out. I didn't have an appointment to take a passport photo (nor do you need an appointment). I was able to take my picture quickly and only had to wait about 10-15min for it to be printed out. The person who took my photo let me take a look at it beforehand, just in case I wanted to retake it. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. The store has a lot of items to purchase - photo film, camera accessories, etc. I did ask to see if they also service older cameras which they can in house or send out depending on what needs to be done. I have an old camera that I found among my late father's items so I might be back to have them take a look at it to see if it still works. As far as parking, they have a small lot in the back. There's also street parking available which can probably get crowded during lunch time since there's some smaller restaurants nearby. read more

I ordered a 25 mm/ 1.8 lens for portraits. The quality is great as it was refurbished. I like being able to buy used things. I feel like I got a lot for under a hundred bucks. The caps are in good condition even though they don't match the camera brand. The front cap had some gunk I had to take off, but otherwise good sale. I've been a patron of Tuttle's camera for years although this newish location is smaller. It has a charm that's unmatched the staff as always is brilliant and helpful and knowledgeable. Whenever I take my daughter in there, they're always willing to take their time to explain things to her, which is a testament to the patients and care the staff has for their customers. I went to Tuttle to get passport photos taken and they couldn't have been nicer or more professional. There were some different requirements for Canadian passports, but they were familiar with them and knew what to do. Cost came to about $25 with tax. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with Tuttle Cameras. I dropped off my camera for repair two months ago and never received any updates unless I called myself. When I finally did, I was told it had been shipped to the East Coast for repairs, something I was never informed of beforehand. In addition, I originally received an estimate, but the price was later increased because of a shipping fee I was not informed of. Overall, the lack of communication and unexpected extra charges made this a very disappointing experience. read more

Very disappointed in today's transaction. I've been a customer for years. This is now the 2nd time that I've made a purchase and been sold an item that was not intended for my model camera. On both occasion, they looked the item up and told me it was the correct one. I live in Lakewood and they have been convenient over the years but I wasted $42.00 today and my time. I needed some prints made from slides and a duplicate print from a 4x6 photo. I went to Tuttle's Camera at 5467 E. Carson Street, Long Beach. I chose them because I like to support our local small business owners. I pre-paid for the services. When I went to pick up my order, they tried to charge me again. The clerk disappeared in another room, and I stood there for more than five minutes, and she did not return. I went home and got my receipt and returned to the shop. After looking at my receipt they agreed that it was pre-paid. Their mistake. The 4x6 print was not yet done so I went back several days later to pick it up and they tried to charge me again for this pre-paid order. They looked at my receipt and said that they made a mistake and did not charge me enough for the print. So, I had to pay an additional $11.59 for one 4x6 print. That included a DVD-R of the print, which I did not want or need. I reluctantly paid the amount and then went down the street to Walgreens and gave them the same 4x6 original and asked for a duplicate. They put it on the scanner, printed it, and handed it to me within three minutes. They charged me 43 cents. The print was the same quality as the one from Tuttle's. I did this to compare costs. Had I known the true cost of a 4x6 reprint up front, I would not have ordered it at Tuttle's. Two trips to Tuttle's. Two mistakes. No apologies. I will not return. read more

I was recommended to come here from CVS lol. I guess if your looking for passport photos it isn't as convenient as it use to be. I googled locations and Walgreens, FedEx/UPS, and CVS locations popped up, but after visiting few locations they told me they no longer have the service available. Costco use to do them, before they discontinued all their Photo Centers. I called others locations and was told same thing, until the one CVS recommended to come here to Tuttle Cameras. I'm glad they did because I wasn't sure where to go, but am happy in discovering this place. Honestly I don't remember even last time I visited a true camera store, but it was nostalgic and nice to see a small business. I apologize I don't remember the clerks name, but he was very polite and helpful. Simply walked in and was immediately greet and told him I needed a new Passport Photo. I was seated on a stool right away near the middle of the store where he quickly grabbed a camera and set up lighting equipment. Took a couple shots, I previewed the photo for my approval, and gave the OK. Took no more than couple minutes. He mentioned it would take 15 mins to get it printed and ready so I just browsed around the shop. I'm not much into photography besides having basic knowledge of equipment, but it was cool to see all the stuff. Plenty of equipment for your photo needs, have used and new cameras for sale, along with actually film rolls and disposable cameras as well. I was surprised to see some Peak Design bags too, because I have a backpack from the brand. Good quality and most bags are designed with photographers in mind. I'm not sure how to fairly compare cost of items here vs other places solely because I rarely visit camera shops as mentioned. I barely waited more than 10 minutes before my photos were done. I was presented with 2 photos in a small folder and they looked perfectly fine with me. The employee mentioned if for any reason they are rejected, I would be able to retake the photo free of charge. The cost of Passport photos was $14.99, which was a little less than what I saw online at CVS or similar websites. I was in the shop probably just 20 mins, if that. It was a pleasant experience. Plenty of parking around the area just off corner of Carson and Bellflower. I'll def keep this place in mind for any photo needs of mine, likely purchase a disposable camera or two for upcoming vacations for fun.
