Outstanding customer service. My canon was missing a screw and I had tried ordering it on my own, different stores and I couldn't find the size. I remembered I was told about this spot and I'm so happy I went. I dropped my camera off on a Thursday afternoon and in less than 24hrs they were calling me to tell me my camera was done and fixed! I have nothing but great things to say about Tuttle Cameras. I've been trying to write a good review for the past few months and now I'm able to. I moved to Long Beach last year in 2022, and I recently started shooting film again and I was looking for a place like Tuttle that sells and develops film, and where I can get other photography equipment. When I moved here, I found a spot called Relics and they were not very bright there, but then I found Tuttle. Tuttle has developed my film, printed my negatives, fixed and cleaned my cameras with no problem. Every time I go into Tuttle I am greeted and treated with great customer service. Tuttle has a verity of film and great merchandise. I've also purchased backdrops and lighting equipment for a reasonable price. They also have a great customer rewards system were you are able to get a free stuff and free develops after a certain amount of times you spend money there. I really love this place and I highly recommend it. read more

Never buy products from this store's website. I recently placed an order for a camera that was listed as "1 in stock" on their site. However, when I called a couple of days later to confirm, they informed me that the camera was actually out of stock. To make matters worse, they said I would need to pay a 6% credit card charge to get my refund. My receipt clearly didn't indicate that this was a pre-order, but the staff insisted it was. Their pre-order page doesn't even allow you to join a waitlist or add items to your cart. Despite the website showing "1 in stock," they claimed it was out of stock. This was a frustrating and disappointing experience--I'll never buy from this store again. read more

I've purchased and developed film here & all the staff was immensely helpful. I wanted to give a special shout out to Julian. I had just developed my first roll of 120 & it was a dud. He told me to bring in my new mamiya so he could check it out to make sure it was functioning properly. He took the time to look it over and give me a quick walkthrough of the camera (turns out I improperly loaded the film lol). As a newbie to medium format photography, it really meant a lot. Highly trained & knowledgeable staff, I'm a newbie, walked in with my new camera, I did not buy from them but they still went through my bag & told me about each lens & the camera, they showed me the capabilities of the lenses listened to me about the kinds of pictures I'd love to take, then showed me the lenses they recommend so I can achieve my shots, I'd love to spend a few thousand bucks at this store, they have some awesome equipment. If you are new to cameras or a pro, Tuttle's is the place for you! I dropped my Sony a6000 camera lens and went in to see if they could fix it. They said they would provide a free quote to see how much it would cost to get it fixed but my lens would have to be shipped to their repair lab. After two extensive weeks of not hearing anything from them, I had to call them every couple of days inquiring about their progress. Eventually, they called me back saying that the price would be around $147 to fix the camera lens motor inside. I checked the prices online for the exact same brand new camera lens, and it would cost around $130. I called back trying to negotiate if they could match that price, but they would not agree to it. I am disappointed that they could not compete or were even willing to negotiate the price for me to stay with their business. I have yet to receive my camera lens back from them since they have to ship it back to that shop. It may be another week or two before I receive my lens back. The overall process to get a price quote is nearing 3 weeks. Pros: *FRIENDLY. In-person and on the phone, they were nice and friendly. Cons: *SLOW SERVICE. I did not think it should take almost a month just to get a price quote for a repair. *NON-NEGOTIATABLE. Their prices and services are too expensive. I don't know how they can stay competitive in a business where it is cheaper to buy brand new from another store than for them to have to repair just the piece. You might as well buy brand new and save money. read more

A truly wonderful experience. As someone who is a novice in how cameras and their accompanying lenses actually function, it can be intimidating to ask for help. I did not feel anything but sincere helpfulness from the staff at Tuttle Cameras. Not only did they help me resolve an issue from an online order (not even from them!) they also potentially saved me time and money by recommending a better lens for my purposes and overall goals. I will never buy camera equipment at a big box store again! I came into Tuttle Cameras and was assisted by an employee that was genuinely happy to give me her advice and expertise. After speaking with her and getting a better idea of what I wanted I returned with some old camera equipment, two people helped me, one assisted in buying my old equipment and another helped me with my new lens purchase. Get your passport photos here. Not only is the lighting quality better but they let you check your picture in-camera to see if you like it. If not, they retake it until you're happy. Can't say the same for clerks in your local pharmacy who could care less and just snap your photo. They are not photographers like these guys. read more

I've been to this establish a handful of times, both at the new location on Carson and the previous location in Bixby knolls. All of my visits have been extremely informative and successful. Each visit I've been met with great customer service and got exactly what I needed, if when I didn't know exactly what I needed. I've been going to Tuttle Cameras for a couple of years now, and I shop with them exclusively. The team is incredibly knowledgeable and I'm comfortable asking them for advice; not a single employee made me feel stupid or embarrassed. 1.) Shopping with them was a breeze. They always call me to let me know if anything I asked for is back in stock. They have a point/cash back program, so I save some money whenever I shop gear. 2.) They partner with a different team to develop and print photos. It does take a couple of days, so you want to plan ahead if you need them by any specific date. Additionally, you can get your film digitally at a low cost if you bring your own USB. 3.) I bought a Canon AE-1 somewhere else. They brought the sweet little baby back to life at a reasonable and competitive price. 4.) They host local workshops and community photography events that are friendly for all levels. How cute is that?! Grateful for this small shop. I will continue to come here for my digital and film photography needs. :) read more

Good vintage lenses. Good selection of cameras. Staff are energetic and helpful. If you are desperate for instant cash, you can come in to trade-in with them or KEH. Preferably sell your gear on eBay or FB marketplace, especially if your gear is niche and/or rare gear that didn't attract many even when they released. For example if you want to buy an official wide conversion for a LX3, you would need to pay around $200 to get one (and sometimes the only option on the market is to buy an entire LX3 that happens to have one included with it). KEH would offer you $30~ for it though, and Turtle would decline to purchase it, now declining to purchase is nothing against the store, it's the most respectable offer to give, infact I'd say they should do this more often if the trade won't be above 60% the value of the item. Aside from that, if you are in the market for vintage gear, or a new camera, they are exceptional when it comes to this. read more

Found this place on yelp. Was looking for a camera store in the local area. My girlfriend was looking for a cheap roll of film to test out the used camera i bought online. Eric was able to help us out with the film roll and the right battery for the camera. Eric was able to help me with information about a camera I had known nothing about. We came back with the roll and had them help us develop it. Several days later, she got a call saying they were ready to be picked up. Jason was able to help us load the photos onto a usb drive at no charge. Jason mentioned that we are able to bring in the camera for a free consultation for service. Parking is plentiful! read more

They have a camera buy back thing going on, so I took my Leica M4-2 with original box and paperwork and a Voigtlander 35mm lens in. I know that when selling to a camera shop I will get about half of what it's worth on eBay because they need to make a profit. I've worked in camera shops before, I know this dance. The employee took the camera in the back for the owner to look at and came back offering me $500 dollars because it was missing one plug for the sync port and the other plug on the second sunc port "moved around and wasn't suppose to" (its a plug, it's made to come off and on.) I had the camera and lens looked at by KEH a couple months ago and was offered $1500 from them, just to give you an idea of the camera's worth. Either the owner doesn't understand Leica camera's (which I doubt) or was totally low balling me. Super insulting. Will never spend a money here. Do your research when selling and buying gear and know it's value going in so you don't get scammed. read more

Great customer service!. Sadly, my reels sat too long to be developed (cooked) and came out blank. But I was refunded the money (except a chemical fee of $5) I had paid upfront without any issues. Will definitely go back if I have any other projects! read more

I was planning on going to Sammy's, however I called the store before to see what kind lighting products they had in store before I drive over. They couldn't give me idea of what they had in store so, I decided to try a local camera store. I'm extremely happy with my first experience at tuttles cameras. The associate Anthony at Tuttle camera was AMAZING. Anthony helped me with getting my first monolight, seamless paper, and backdrop. Helped me to my car with that 9ft seamless paper. It really is shops like this that keep me coming back to small businesses over the big corporate chains. The staff here really takes their time with you and makes you feel so welcome from the moment you walk in, to the moment you leave. I've told several people about this store since my visit last week, which shows that they made a lasting impression. Harvey and Dick Tuttle opened the first Tuttle Cameras store after serving in WWII in April of 1946 on 2nd street in Belmont Shore and a second store in 1947 on Atlantic Ave. in Bixby Knolls. Eric Vitwar started working for the Tuttle family in 1990 and managed the Belmont Shore location and the Bixby Knolls location. So have been monitoring current deals, and have come into this store multiple times to 'window' shop and get clarifications. Thus when I saw a new deal pop up over the weekend, came back to this store to see if worth purchasing. It was. The switch is not complete yet, but the customer interaction at this store so far has been outstanding. Like many folks, my wife and I have been mobile customers across all the major carriers (including Sprint, which no longer exists), currently getting service through our Internet provider, Spectrum. Everyone provides unlimited national data now, so price continues to be the main driver for us. Both our I-phones (smallest physical footprint available) are (slowly) dying, victim of new OS's that require faster processors/memory and faster-draining/slower-recharging old batteries. But I like the form size of it, and it would still be useful as an occasional wi-fi device (or sell it to a company like Gazelle for over $100), so didn't want to use a deal that required a trade-in. So with the release of the I-phone 17e by Apple earlier this month ('budget' model, retailing for $599 for the 256GB version), T-Mobile recently published a new deal: get a 17e 'free' with 24 month contract, with no trade-in. What wasn't clear online was if the 55+ plans would apply. So decided to stop back in while doing some errands by myself in DTLB. This store is marketed as a T-Mobile experience store. Whenever we stop in, it's fairly busy but staffed well enough to have someone immediately available to help with no wait. Like before, I interacted with Taylor (Sr. Mobile Expert). He confirmed my understanding, and then looked up to see if the 55+ Essential ($60 plus tax for 2 lines with auto-pay monthly) would qualify. I was very pleasantly surprised that it did. The plan works as an interest free loan, with T-Mobile giving us the $599 to purchase the phone. From the government's perspective, the phone was bought at full retail price, and sales tax must be paid by the customer at the time of sale, which is what I did for both phones. T-Mobile then gives us a $24.96 credit for each phone at each billing cycle to pay off the phone. This means that if we cancel the service before 24 months, we would owe the remaining balance on the phone(s). Either way, the phone would be unlocked and would belong to us. So with that information, I decided to move forward with Taylor. After asking a co-worker, he recommended that the entire transaction be performed over the T-Mobile app on my (old) phone (including payment)...and he stayed with me while we did so. I remarked if there was a way to credit him; he responded that at this store, the employees did not work on commission. The phone itself is on backorder and will be shipped directly to our home, at which point we could start the actual switch over process. Since the newest phones only use E-SIMs now, we shouldn't have to come back in to get them activated. But it's nice to know that if we want to get personalized attention to complete the switch, Taylor and the rest of the non-commissioned T-Mobile team at this DTLB experience are there to walk one through it.

I was helped by Andres and this man deserves a big raise or a promotion to store manager. He was all you can ask from someone working in retail. He was attentive, answered all my questions and explained what deals I was eligible for. He even set up my phone case and made sure it was flawless before I left the store. I've been to other T-Mobile stores and had horrible experiences but I'm glad they got a great guy working at this one store. Store Owners or Management. You really need to promote this man.

Mine were both giving a loud buzz from one channel and I was sick of the grounding wire, so I figured it was time to get them internally grounded. One of the lights was burned out as well. Dropped them off on a Saturday and picked em up on Tuesday. They're both back to great working order. Great communication (texts to let me know they were ready and questions if they had any). It's nice to see a place still going and doing it. Although I bought them way back when you could get a set of 2 for under $500 (good luck getting ONE for that now) I can't be mad at the price for the service.
