Stopped in to Foxtrot Market last night (7/22/22) at about 10:15pm. We were just looking for somewhere to sit and have a quick drink in between shows at Second City. All the bars in old town are crazy busy with lines etc. to get in at this time on a Friday so we thought this was a better place to get in and get out quickly. As Foxtrot advertises clearly that they close at 11pm, I figured 45 mins before was plenty of time. There was 1 table available outside so I told my boyfriend to sit down and I'll grab the drinks. The girl working was less than thrilled when I walked in. I ordered 2 Seltzer's, so all she had to do was pull them out of the fridge and hand them to me, pretty simple. I was trying to be courteous as I know they have a job to do to get the shop closed, but I wasn't walking in 2 minutes before close, it was almost an hour before. I paid, and there was no way to leave a tip with my card (something management should consider changing, or at least making an option for the hardworking staff since most people don't carry cash anymore) - luckily I did have a little cash on me. I apologized it wasn't more to which she didn't respond to me and then I thanked her, again no response so I went outside so sit down. We opened the drinks and they were so delicious, my boyfriend was like why don't you run in and grab 2 more now so you don't bother them later. So I quickly ran back inside, the interaction was pretty much the same with the girl at the counter. But, my main issue was when we were leaving. My boyfriend needed to use the restroom (it was about 10:45pm at this point) so still 15 mins before closing. When he went in to use the bathroom the girl refused to give him the code and was very rude to him. I had gone in both times to make the purchase so maybe she didn't realize he was with me, but to deny a paying customer access to the bathroom in such a unpleasant manner is unacceptable. He nicely explained that he was with me, and they still refused. When he came back and told me, I was pretty upset by the treatment he received. There was an awesome guy working outside clearing the seat cushions, we helped him move the ones we were sitting on and I asked him for the bathroom code. He kindly let us know. When my boyfriend went back in to use the bathroom, a different female worker snapped at him "did you not hear my co-worker? the bathrooms are closed!" - I was astounded. It took everything in me not to go back in and ask these girls why they were being so rude, after we purchased 4 drinks, were in and out quickly and were kind to every staff member. I've worked in restaurants and customer service since I was 14 years old. I understand when its the end of the night and you're tired and want to go home. However, when you post hours online about when you are open until, and you have paying customers, to treat them in such a manner is just bad business. There are tons of options in Old Town and unfortunately, we won't be back to this place because of those two girls. Bummer too, because those seltzer's were delicious! read more
