    Butterscotch decaf iced coffee.
    Britt Z.

I only drink decaf iced coffee, and sometimes, I add a pump or two of a flavored syrup for a little oomph. When I saw they offer butterscotch as one of their flavors, I wanted to try it. I was feeling extra daring, so I added a little mocha, too. The coffee was bitter, and they were kind enough to remake it for me, which I appreciated. The second round was much better. The breakfast items they serve are frozen. I tried to order a breakfast sandwich without the bacon but was told they couldn't do that. No big deal, at least they were nice enough to explain to me why they couldn't remove an item. The two young ladies working behind the counter were very, very nice. The coffee shop has a drive thru as they are located in the old Wells Fargo bank. There are a few different seating areas if you have work to do or if you are meeting up with some friends, or stopping in for coffee on the way to work. They open at 6 a.m., which is perfect for people who are out and about early in the morning. Price points are on the high end, but you have to realize this is Boca, and they are comparable to the other local coffee places around town. Sure, this is much nicer than the two popular coffee chains, but for me, all I need/want is a small decaf iced coffee, so I will stick with the chain I usually check into most weekday mornings. Foxtail is great if you want something a little nicer than the chains, and don't mind spending a bit more money.

Second time at a Foxtail. Love the coffee, but food is Starbucks-like, pre packaged and heated up. Had a drip, light and flavourful. Turkey sausage and egg sandwich was average at best. Service has been great each time I've visited.

Honey lavender latte, honey latte with sf vanilla cold foam

I got a honey latte with sf vanilla cold foam and my friend got a honey lavender latte and we both LOVED our drinks. We both drink coffee everyday and were skeptical of foxtail because it's a chain but oh BOY was it delicious. Sophie was working by herself and was pretty busy but was super nice and made great drinks!

Shamefully, I forgot to take a picture of my coffee. But this new establishment is really nice and comfortable on the inside. The staff was very sweet and welcoming, and ready to assist with recommendations. The coffee is a bit on the pricey side, mine was a hazelnut iced latte with almond milk and neared $8. They sell cute merchandise, too, and some fox-themed baked items. Overall, just happy to have a new coffee location down the street.

This time I didn't love the coffee as much as I did the last time! I do love that it is so close to my house! That's the best part. They are a tad on the expensive side - so be prepared for that. They are in the Boca Valley Publix shopping center (on the outskirts). This time there was a huge line for people picking up race packets - good thing I asked someone what was going on or I would've waited in that line for nothing (I think next time they should have a sign stating such). So I'll be back at some point!

My delicious iced mocha / decaf / almond milk.

Well. WOW!! glad I saw this on Facebook. 3 miles from us. Wanted to check them out. Beautiful store & fundraising for Christmas as well. I'll bring in a canned good. I really do NOT like coffee at all. The only thing I drink is an iced mocha with almond milk, decaf. The barista made it for me and let me tell you... I have a new favorite place. Absolutely love it and they have great breakfast sandwiches. I will have to check out.

I ordered an iced cappuccino with whole milk and honey (they only offer 2 milks - whole and a homemade cashew milk). We got our drinks and proceeded to the beach. Sip 1, I started to feel funny and thought there was no way they didn't put whole milk in my drink. 2nd sip, and my whole body began to sweat, throat started to tingle, and I began losing strength and energy. Surely enough, the barista had made my drink with the homemade cashew milk. I'll spare you the details of the proceeding traumatizing events of my anaphylactic shock, but I am thanking the lord I was with people I love, had my EpiPen, and that the ambulance EMTs, and doctors at Bethesda Memorial ER were wonderful and attentive. I would like to acknowledge who I believe was the owner. He overheard my sister run into the cafe to ask the barista what kind of milk was in the drink. After she left the barely-drank drink on the counter and ran out, he chased us down the sidewalk when we were rushing back to our hotel and offered us Benadryl he had on hand. Obviously, he did not realize how severe the situation was and the Benadryl exited my body just a few minutes later, but it was kind of him to do. I am writing this review as both a warning to patrons to verify the ingredients in their drinks before drinking them if they have life-threatening food allergies like me (I obviously wish I had heeded my own advice). I am also writing this as hopefully a wake-up call for the employees of Deke's: food safety is your #1 priority as a food and beverage establishment. You offer only TWO milks. I asked for one of the milks, and you gave me the other, which was a milk made with 1 of the country's 9 major food allergens (tree nuts). This is not a situation of me not liking my drink - this is a matter of life or death. I was lucky enough to be with people I love and have a life-saving medical device at my hotel that I was able to use when my body was being deprived of oxygen and shutting down on itself. Some people are not so lucky. While I am sure you take pride in the drinks you are making, I am urging you to take more care for the people who are drinking them.

The coffee was good overall, the only wish I would have to make this better is to actually have a menu similar to what is showcased online on their site for visibility. The syrup flavors are shown on their board but the names of the specialty coffee isn't such as the lucky charms and the French toast. So be sure to check online to see their speciality coffee!

After waiting 35 minutes for my latte, I finally had to go ask about it myself. There was no apology, no acknowledgment, just "we'll make it." After another 5 minutes of waiting, I noticed the cashier remind the barista again. She eventually brought the latte to the table, dropped it off, and walked away -- no "thank you for waiting," no apology, nothing. A roaster bearing the name of…read morean Indigenous people -- the Calusa, the ancient shell-mound builders, the unconquered lords of South Florida's mangroves and waterways. People who never surrendered. People whose bones are folded into this very soil. As someone who walks through this world carrying Taíno blood and the memory of peoples whose names colonizers tried to erase, that word hit different. It wasn't a gimmick. It wasn't a logo. It was a declaration -- that this land has a story older than any espresso machine, and somebody here understood that. That understanding alone earned my curiosity and my respect before I'd even stepped through the door. "The name carried the weight of a people who never bent. That's the kind of legacy worth building a roastery around." Then I learned the story behind the man behind the roaster -- and it only deepened my respect. Luis Arteaga came home from serving in the United States Marine Corps and did what so many veterans do: he looked for work. No fanfare. No red carpet. Just a man with discipline in his bones and calluses on his hands, trying to find his next mission in a civilian world that doesn't always know what to do with people like that. He found his way to the original owners of Calusa Coffee Roasters. They saw in him what the Corps had always seen -- dependability, grit, and a willingness to learn. They gave him a job. A floor to stand on. And Luis did what Marines do -- he didn't just fill a position, he grew into something greater. Over time, through sweat and dedication and an unmistakable passion for the craft, he rose to become the owner of the very roastery that once took a chance on him. That's not a business story. That's an American story. A veteran's story. And it's exactly the kind of origin that makes a cup of coffee taste like something more than coffee. CALUSA COFFEE ROASTERS IS A SOUTH FLORIDA INSTITUTION Fast forward to today, and Calusa Coffee Roasters isn't just surviving -- it is a staple. Walk into the right cigar bar on a Friday evening and someone at the table will mention the name. Sit down at the right diner counter on a Tuesday morning and a regular will nod toward that familiar bag. In South Florida's rich, layered, cafecito-and-culture coffee landscape, that kind of word-of-mouth is earned over years of consistency, of showing up, of never letting the cup get small. Luis continues to build something that belongs to this community -- rooted in the terroir of a region as complex and layered as its people. The coffee is exceptional. Bold where it should be bold, nuanced where it earns it. The kind of roast that makes you sit down instead of rushing out. That's no accident. That's someone who respects the craft because he was forged in institutions that demand nothing less than your best. "When a Marine finds his mission in a roastery, every bag he puts his name on carries the same standard -- do it right or don't do it at all." Meeting Luis was one of those moments I didn't expect to move me the way it did. We are both moving through the coffee world trying to build something that means something -- something rooted in identity, in service, in the belief that what's in the cup should tell a story worth hearing. And here was a fellow Marine who had walked a road I recognize: uncertain ground, earned footing, and a refusal to quit. And finally, if you are in South Florida and you have not made the pilgrimage to Calusa Coffee Roasters on Commercial Blvd, you are overdue. Go for the coffee -- stay for the story. And if you're lucky enough to meet the man himself, shake his hand. He earned it in more ways than one. To Luis Arteaga and everyone at Calusa: thank you for carrying a name that honors this land. Thank you for honoring the service that shaped you. And thank you for a cup of coffee that carries the weight of all of it without spilling a drop. Semper Fi, brother. Keep roasting.
