Somehow, after spending years walking around Mizner Park, I only discovered this coffee shop today--thanks to my husband! I can't believe I've been missing it for so long. The café is incredibly cozy with a unique, artistic atmosphere. As a big fan of Salvador Dalí, I immediately fell in love with the design. Right at the entrance, there's a giant coffee machine that continuously rotates coffee beans, and inside you'll find a huge portrait of Dalí brought to life with a projector effect. It's such a fun and creative detail that makes the whole place feel like an art installation. I also loved the little design touches, especially the unique chair legs. The café was spotless, and everyone working there was friendly and welcoming. I ordered a cappuccino with almond milk to go. It was prepared quickly, and the coffee was smooth, rich, and delicious. If you're visiting Mizner Park, I definitely recommend stopping by. I am definitely a coffee diva. I only buy good quality beans for home use and I take the coffee making process pretty seriously. When I go out and pay $6 bucks for a cup of coffee, I expect it to be solid. Starbucks is hit or miss. Carmela is pretty good. Dunkies and Wawa coffee is horrific. As for Subculture, I have to say that their coffee is routinely excellent. On my last visit I got a cappuccino. It was absolutely delicious, I loved it. We sat at a table outside and just enjoyed the beautiful weather and watched people walk around Mizner. Outstanding vibe. One negative, I don't understand is why they won't make any size other than a small. One of the workers explained to me once, but honestly it's still doesn't make sense to me. And because it's just like 12 oz, I finished it pretty quickly. Would have been nice to have some more. Overall, this is definitely one of my favorite coffee spots in Boca. Four stars. Stopped by while Boca was celebrating its 100-year anniversary, great ambience and quick service! I ordered an iced mocha, and even though I'm not usually a fan of iced coffee, this one was actually really good not too sweet, and refreshing. The music was coming from the amphitheater nearby, which added a fun vibe to the atmosphere. The only downside was the beef empanada, they added raisins, which I personally didn't like (some people might, but not for me). Overall, it's a cozy spot with friendly service, tasty coffee, and plenty of pastry options. I'd definitely come back for the drinks and chill ambiance! Stopped here for the first time and it did not disappoint! A friend recommended this spot and so we drove up from Ft. Lauderdale to check out. My boyfriend and I went out of our usual comfort zone of coffee choice. We asked the barista that day their favorite and they said they were currently in love with the strawberry white mocha, and WOW. It was so delicious. I got a dirty chai and it was incredible too, not the usual sugary chai some places have. Would highly recommend stopping by here. So here's the bottom line. Five stars on vibe and cleanliness and a 2.75 on food and beverage. Admittedly I only tried once. Husband has tried multiple times. Had a cappuccino which was well made, with great in-house roasted beans, but was not hot, just barely lukewarm. Drank it too fast as I didn't want to drink cold. For food, had breakfast burrito which is pre-cooked and packaged elsewhere and warmed up when you order it. No changes possible. It was a tortilla wrap of scrambled eggs cheese and bacon and it was tasteless, like cardboard. Plentiful on eggs skimpy on bacon and cheese so tasteless I couldn't tell what it was. Served very hot. So it was a very hot tasteless wrap. Slapped on a plate. Would I order again? Hard no! Next time I will request the drink HOT. Other part of review is vibe. You are paying half for food/beverage and half for vibe. Vibe is cool without being cool. Funky pillows and exposed pipes AC equipment. Clean very clean tables and condiment area. Lots of pastries to select from. Chill background music. Almost everyone was wearing headphones and on their laptops or multiple laptops. And had multiple tats. It was around 10:30 am. Several outdoor tables occupied and all indoor tables occupied. Everyone hipster looking except senior citizen me. Would I return? Yes. But would not order that breakfast burrito. Order beverage hot. Love that they have some outdoor seating - it of course you can take it to the grassy strip and find a place to sit, or just stroll and enjoy. Such a cute and convenient location! Easy to park by meter right out front. Great outdoor and indoor seating. The booths and tables were cute with gold accents and the mural was fun! The barista was so nice and offered so many fun drink combos. I was heavily indecisive on some flavor options and she suggested two together that I would have not thought of doing. It was delicious! Subculture Coffee was established on March 3, 2014 by Rodney Mayo and his partner Sean Scott. They now have four locations including this one in Mizner Park in Boca Raton which opened in March of 2022. They are the only microroasting facility in the area except for Oceana Coffee in Tequesta and Panther Coffee in Miami. Like the craft wine and beer places that came before, they want to be known for their craft coffee. Subculture Coffee roasts their coffee every day in small batches in order to maintain a higher quality, smoother finish, and full flavor. You can order seasonal flavors and different coffee from around the world. Beans are sourced from Central and South America, Africa and the South Pacific. The coffee is roasted on a Diedrich IR-12 which offers flexibility in roast size. They also offer a grab-and-go breakfast, lunch, snack foods, smoothies, and juice. Subculture opened near two other Mayo concepts, Kapow! Noodle Bar and the now closed Dubliner Irish Pub. Subculture is a narrow space but I love the Salvador Dali inspired mural on the wall which is perfect because the Boca Museum of Art is just a few doors down. I stopped in for an iced latte during the Art Festival in Mizner Park. They were slammed but their coffee is always worth waiting for. Although Subculture caters to the coffee experts they are completely accessible to anyone who doesn't care about the correct roast temperature for a specific bean and who just wants to enjoy a cup a great cup of coffee. Warning, once you try the craft java at Subculture, you will never want coffee from those morebucks places again. read more

Subculture Coffee is a lil coffee spot within Mizner Park. I came to get some work done and found this biz on Yelp! The parking is metered within Mizner Park that you can either pay at the meter or using the ParkMobile app with a max of 4 hours. The inside is small and intimate but has plentiful seating to catch up with friends, take a meeting, or get some work done.They also have some board games set aside, in case you want to play. I loved the interior decor with a huge mural of Salvador Dali (one of my fav artists). I would note that it was a bit dim inside but that might have been the vibe they were going for? I sat at the long "bench" area with small tables & loved how they had outlets underneath the seat so you can charge your laptops or phones, if needed. As for what I ordered, I got an iced matcha latte (of course) with oat milk and vanilla and a vanilla sprinkle loaf. The iced matcha was okay but loved the presentation of the cup it was in. This store is small but mighty, with rather tiny tables inside but definitely setup for work-from-coffee-shop mode. Giant colorful mural on the wall and working roaster swirling coffee beans in the front window keeps things fun. Ordered a giant stuffed looking cookie that looked more amazing than it tasted, but still good! Iced chai for my friend. We sat outside. Not really sure if this gold furniture on the patio belongs to subsculture but it matches their sign out front. Loved working on the patio with a strong breeze, in lovely-looking Mizner Park. I was in the area visiting my friend and we wanted to try delicious coffee. I found this place on recommended and we went for it. It is really cute inside and has this Williamsburg vibe. The coffees were good. They had gluten-free pastries so I was super happy. Why 3 stars? Well, because team members looked like they were on something: very slow, not concentrated and not focused. I called to get info on ordering espresso online from this store. Melissa answered the phone. She was extremely dismissive immediatley upon answering the phone. I mentioned to her I found the store through an online search and was calling to see if they have freshly roasted "expresso" beans that I could order. She first had to correct me with attitude that it was "espresso" and not "expresso" that I was looking for and that if I found them online why was I not looking on the website for the info I was calling about. She then oddly asked me to text her for info, and that she could not provide anything further. I said you can't provide anything further? She responded "That's what I said" I sarcastically thanked her for correcting my grammar and she said your welcome. Who hires these people? If this is her business then shame on you. If there is something I dislike more than anything when spending money is when a retailer tells me I have to fit into their box. No, I don't. And that's the story of two Subculture coffee locations: Boca and Delray. So, here we go. I walked to Subculture Boca for a Chai tea. I asked for an 8 ounce Chai - the lady taking my order said no, it only comes in a 12 ounce. I said, I am able to get an 8 ounce Chai at the Delray location. She was adamant. So, I left. I will not visit this location again, and I have 2 other locations at Mizner to choose to spend my money, including Starbucks. Keep in mind, I was willing to pay $8 for an 8 ounce Chai vs. $4 at Starbucks. This is how businesses go out of businesses-I'm now a big distractor. And from a business perspective, Subculture could have made more profit serving me 8 ounces vs 12 ounces. Mich at the Delray location finds a way to yes, and I end up spending more. read more

Went here for a coffee after dinner in Mizner park, and was hoping for a cute coffee shop and a good cup of coffee. This is anything but! It was dirty and the person working there Friday night was extremely unpleasant and clearly wanted to be elsewhere, which was obvious by the state of the place. They only have regular coffee, and if you want decaf, you'll need to go somewhere else because they don't serve it! I guess it's hard to make a good cuppa coffee within a clean, well- kept shop. Overall great place! They have a fun atmosphere and offer game nights. Their coffee is amazing, I like to get a lavender vanilla latte with oat milk. The only thing keeping me from giving them 5 stars is their pricing. The above latte comes out to above $7, which to me is steep but it's about a dollar cheaper than the same item that I used to get from the Seed. So it's still a cheaper option than some other local coffee shops. Despite the price, I enjoy coming here and enjoy their cakes and breakfast items! read more

Small cafe tucked away in the NW corner of Mizner Park. I ordered an iced latte with 2% milk. It was excellent! The baristas care about the espresso they are pulling, and knew the roast on bar when questioned. A blend of Ethiopia and Brazil makes for a creamy, chocolate forward, fruity backend. Sweet personalities on bar too Very into the bamboo-like, wooden community bench that runs the length of the seating area. Will return to do some work here! read more

I visited on February 6, 2023. Below are my insights: Price: Overpriced, but frankly it is a trendy coffee spot in Mizner Park, so that is to be expected. Atmosphere: Trendy. The atmosphere was attractive. Food Taste: I had a muffin and basic coffee. They both tasted fine. The coffee was a bit strong, but that is okay. Service: It was okay. Just okay. There were only (4) patrons in the entire place late Monday afternoon. There were (2) workers behind the counter. Really, I had to bring the two cups of coffee, muffin, and cookie on two different plates to the table myself? I guess they don't provide service, I do not believe they do this at Starbucks either, but you want to make a great impression on prospective long-term guest correct? The bottom line is it cost over $16 for two medium (they were really small however) cups of coffee, a smaller muffin, and a cookie. It is not worth it, but that is just my opinion. In fairness, I do not deem Starbucks to be worth it as well. Maybe if you go there with a computer and work for the entire day it is fine, but for a basic visit I can think of better places to go, or better yet, just make your own coffee for a couple of pennies at home.
