We visited FRB last night, and I have to say it was a bit disappointing. We ordered a chicken quesadilla that came out smelling like tuna. We sent this back to the kitchen. We also ordered the breaded cod, the cod was slimy, and tasted off. After being sent back the restaurant still charged the $22 for the meal that was inedible. The person who consumed half a piece of fish spent the rest of the evening vomiting/sick. The chicken and waffles are breaded in captain crunch, and smelled delicious. However if you don't want overly sweet this is not the dish for you. We sat outside in an igloo, and when staff were coming and going they would leave the door unzipped, and left it unzipped while taking the orders. Both space heaters in the space were broken in some capacity. Parking was very easy to access. The spike hot apple cider was delicious but not worth the rest of the hassle that came with our experience. read more

I know things are kind of tough everywhere, but the prices here have gone way up and the quality of the food has not kept up. It was never spectacular in quality, but it's now even more difficult to justify paying this much for mediocre food. It's somewhat worth going there for the atmosphere and a quick beer in the summer but not because of the food. I'm not sure how this type of restaurant can stay open much longer if they can't find a way to balance cost with quality and people will vote with their feet as a result. Service is always pretty lackluster outside. Dinner food is good but they recently added a breakfast menu. Pancakes were frozen then heated up and served. Came out hard as a rock. The ones they replaced them with were tasteless. Breakfast potatoes for sides are also frozen and my watermelon slices were half rind. Definitely not worth the price, for better breakfast at half the price go to Good Yolk. At least the beer is good. read more

Food was decent. Had the crab dip, white bean chili, and salmon bowl. Service however was terrible and ruined the experience. Brook was our server. We got our appetizers and she never once came back to check how they were, or to make sure we didnt need anything. After being done with our apps for 10 minutes she finally came over to take our food order. After someone else dropped off our food, she once again never came to check on us to see if we needed any refills, or how the food was. I never got 1 refill of my soda, and mt husband ended up walking to the bar to order a beer. Then she was nowhere to be found so we could pay, so I had to walk up to the bar to pay our bill as well. They have a nice view of the river - we were able to sit by the window to look out at the water, very nice. The food was very good - the fries are well-seasoned and I liked their grilled cheese. Their tater tots are pretty good too. The only bad part of the experience was I asked for bacon on the side (instead of in the grilled cheese because I'm a vegetarian) and instead they just put the bacon on top of my meal. This review is for the place as it is now, having combined Fratello's and Fox River under one name. I had been way back when they opened, but aside from the building and location my memories are hazy. This time around, went with friends during the airshow. It wasn't very busy, and it was handy to the museums we were checking out so we could get a break from the sun. It's still a cool building, and the location right on the water is great. Plenty of outdoor seating, but it was hot so we stayed inside. I didn't end up getting any beer this time, though I tried the root beer and it was pretty good. Sweetie and our friend had salads; I believe Sweetie had a Caesar and Barb had a garden salad. I had the ale-battered fish, to work some beer in. The portion seemed a bit small, but otherwise I was very satisfied: perfectly done fish, flaky and moist, with a great batter. The fries with it were very good, and the cole slaw was amazing: thick dressing, good veggies. I dipped fries in the very tasty tartar sauce in the Oshkosh manner. Service was good- there when needed but unobtrusive. Prices are a bit high, but it was worth it. I would definitely go back. read more

Not great. Server was nice. My husband had a beer but didn't love it. We both had burgers. The food came out fast but my beer cheese steak Burger was surprisingly only lukewarm, the bun was huge and not fresh. The beer cheese sauce was bland and the French fries were straight up cold. When I asked the waitress for hot fries she came back with a new plate in less than 2 minutes. So they are clearly made ahead of time and sitting there. We definitely will try a different Oshkosh restaurant next time we go! read more

Great brewery with nice views of the river. We tried the Blue Bobber brew that they're known for and it was really good! Also had a chocolate covered cherry martini and that was great. Dinner was delish. Chicken piccata could of used more sauce but that's just how I prefer it. Fish and chips was good portions. We had the spinach artichoke dip that came with warm Pita bread. I've been coming here by boat for a number of years. Food is good and the wait staff usually excellent. The captain crunch tenders with the honey mustard dip are a fantastic appetizer. Thai pizza is also great and the crab cakes (alone or in the Caesar salad) are always great. One not so good change I've seen in the last year is a very noticeable decline in their mixed drinks. Something is just not right. Ordered a margarita on the rocks last time and the flavor was sickly sweet and tasted like a powdered lemonade mix - Really awful and undrinkable. The other drinks were just not as good as they have been in the past. The change is so material that I've knocked down my rating by two. read more

Stopped in on Sunday evening and sat outside. It was a lovely evening and the views are great. The service was slow and the food was nothing to write home about. We ordered the Thai Chicken pizza which could have been really good but sort of looked/tasted like it had been left out too long before serving. We also had the Wasabi Salmon Tacos which were painful. We expected a little heat from the wasabi aioli but it tasted like straight wasabi out of a tube was dumped on these tacos. We had to wipe most of it off and drink a lot of water while eating them. The saving grace is enjoying a Blu Bobber beer by the water. For the love of god do not come here for breakfast. Pancakes are $5 for frozen Michelle Obama school breakfast frozen pancakes. They came out hard as a rock the first time, came out the second time still hard, we decided to try them for fun and the eucharist at church has more flavor. Husband's food came out first, it was lukewarm and wrong, he ate his whole meal before mine came out piping hot so they clearly forgot to make it. I waited 10 minutes while I watched him eat but I didn't even mind because the food was terrible. Waffles are also frozen and taste freezer burnt, swallowing them was like the texture of cement. Coffee was cold. If you have any respect for your mother do not come here for breakfast. Please. Go to Two Brothers, Good Yolk, even Kwik Trip has better breakfast than here. I ordered the pork belly mac and cheese because the menu said it included cavatappi pasta (one of my favorites) and crispy pork belly. As you can see, I was served egg noodles and soft pork belly. Had I known this, I would've ordered something else. I mentioned this to the waiter who said "hmm, it usually has cavatappi" and later told me the chef was "just trying something new." New is fine, I just believe the kitchen should've told the waiter, and the waiter should've told me. I ate it all because I've been moving all day and was starving, but $15.50 for egg noodles, a few pieces of soft pork belly, and grated cheese on top... Bleh. Cheese curds we're ok. They served the food almost immediately after the starter so you couldn't eat the curds for long. Once they get cold it's over. The fish and chips were very fresh and tasty. A more upscale established brewery I'm WI. Been around a little longer I think they are known most for their blu bobber beer and new the red raspberry one. They have live music here Wednesday thru Sunday's in the summertime. So if you are in the mood for music and drink by the water this is it. Large seating area outside makes for a fun atmosphere if the music is good. I have seen hit or miss music. So much variation with what a small band can do. The food is so so. Nothing I hate but nothing I am crazy about. Can be a casual boating place or an upscale dinner for two. They do both! read more

Wanted to review the Fratellos side of the Fox River Brewing in Oshkosh, but there was no listing. Met some friends after work at the bar area. Bartender had a less than zero personality. He showed me a wine list, I asked for the house Pinot, expecting it to be around $8/glass (that's the pricing on menu) for the 6 oz. (not the 9 oz) glass. I was shocked to see my bill @ $16 for one glass! Not to mention he walked by all of us several times with empty glasses and never acknowledged or asked if we'd like a refill...even for our water. After the bar disappointment, we were seated in the restaurant. Food was sub-par at best. Salmon tacos had no flavor, served on cold tortillas and had a little cabbage thrown on. My friends burger was so salty, she ate barely half. Another friend ordered the infamous chicken tenders and even those were a thumbs down. For the price...it was an overall epic disappointment. Fratellos used to be a favorite go-to several years ago, but the menu has changed, a few times, and not for the better. With all of the other choices in Oshkosh, I can safely say I'll never come here again. On a positive note, the waitress was very nice! read more

We called (on short notice) to host a small group, post funeral, for a late lunch with drinks and appetizers. When we arrived the manager brought us back to a nice area where appetizers were already on the table with the special made three item menu, which had a nice dedication to our departed loved one. Our server, who was young and fairly new got all orders of drinks and food spot on and was very cordial during our whole event, thank you Max. I would recommend this place to anyone and we have already gone back for drinks ( check out the domes). Last but not least I always rate the bathrooms " these were very clean" I think a clean bathroom tells a lot about a place, maybe that's just me? read more
