We rented a car for a week and needed to extend due to family emergency. We originally paid $17 a day. The customer service department was going to charge us $50 a day to extend plus tax and service fee. we explained that we went to there web page and could rent the same car for another week at $19 a day. They told us we had to drive the 3.5 hours back to them to re-rent the same car. Talk about shitty customer service. The car I rented was infested with roaches and not one person, call center,pick up location, pr drop off location cares one bit. I asked for a refund and apparently that is over stepping. But, on our way out (1:25pm on 9/13) I guess an elderly couple had trouble with their car and needed help or another car, and the lady (no name tag) at the gate was bashing them left and right to every other customer and us. She went on and on about people not able to leave because of this couple - but she was keeping us from leaving by telling us how unreasonable they're being. Had to cancel my trip due to hurricane Milton. The company wouldn't refund the reservation, given that traveling to the area was dangerous and against recommendation and directive of local authorities. I didn't try to cancel because I just changed my mind -- the trip had to be canceled because travel to area that was directly affected by the hurricane a week prior was simply impractical and again advice of local authorities that were still dealing with the aftermath. Fox, however, didn't care and decided to just keep the money, through no fault of the customer. Stay away from the company. You may get lucky if everything goes well, but any unexpected hiccup, and they'll give no damn about you. read more

Fraud, Fraud, Fraud. Stay well clear of Fox Rental Cars at Phoenix Airport. I rented from Fox at Phoenix Airport from Oct 14-18. At check-in, I was asked by their representative called Trisha whether I wanted to upgrade the mid-size SUV I'd rented through Expedia to a Jeep Wrangler, which I declined. Later, when signing the printed contract, Trish crossed the upgrade charge out and confirmed that I would not be charged anything extra on top of what I paid Expedia When I went to pick up the car downstairs, it was confusing as the Fox rep in the garage offered me a Jeep Wrangler, to which I said no. He then offered me a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which I said I had not reserved, but he said it was at no extra cost. As such, I took the car. However, when I returned the car, I was charged a $320 upgrade charge (including taxes), which I disputed. The location Manager offered to 'split the difference', but I said I wanted a full refund as I had declined the upgrade. As I had a flight to catch, he told me to call Customer Service/Billing to request a full refund, but when I did so multiple times, they said they had to get approval from the same local Manager, who declined. Customer Service also said the Manager would call me to discuss the claim, but he never did despite multiple follow-ups. When finally I called Customer Service to say I'd settle for the 50% refund I was originally offered, as I was tired of following up, I have not heard anything further from them or received a refund. Reviews on multiple websites that unfortunately I read after my experience frequently refer to dubious and misleading selling practices from Fox Rental Cars and often the same representative Trisha that I dealt with. I have never had this experience before despite renting many cars from more well known global companies over the years and I would NEVER rent from Fox again. We booked our reservation weeks in advance. We chose the pay later option, which costs more. When we got to the rental counter we were told they only had enough cars for people with prepaid reservations. No where in their rental policy does it say that they give preference to people who prepay for their reservation. We were told if we wait in line we may get a car but if people come in line after us with a prepaid reservation they will get in front of us in line! On top of it, there is only one person at the rental desk helping people. After an hour and a half in line a manager called the front desk and told him that they will not rent to anyone who did not prepay!! We were sent away without a car!! This is absurd! I went up to the worker and asked if it's possible to pick up the car an hour earlier than we planned. We reserved a compact SUV. I informed her we reserved a compact SUV at 12:30 pm and she asked for my name. She then proceeded to tell me that all of their compact SUVs are unavailable and that I can get a full size SUV for an extra $30... I have never been so lost and confused in my life because how can the compact SUV car that I reserved in advanced be unavailable now????? I said I'll be back and wait for my cousin to land so we can discuss this. She lands and we go up to a different worker and told her our reservation for pick-up of a compact SUV and she proceeded with our reservation!!!! We signed the paperwork, and she told us the directions on where to go to pick the car up. So one worker said they're out of a compact SUV while another said nothing and moved on with our reservation???? Does not make any sense at all. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Went to pick up a rental car and first had to wait an hour and a half before I was given the car. I showed up early knowing there would probably be a line. My reservation started at 5pm and didn't get the car until 5:38. When returning the vehicle there was no one to check it in at 5pm. So I left the key in the box and then at 11:30pm they scanned it in which ended up charging me an extra $75 for a day. This place has lazy employees and no respect for customers. I will certainly not book through fox again. I will spend more money for a reliable car and better customer service. We booked a reservation online for Phoenix. When we arrived after our flight landed late at night, I was told the scanner was having problems and couldn't read my drivers license. They would not allow us to try scanning my wife's and allow her to take over the reservation. So because their scanner didn't work, they wouldn't give us a car and told us we could not book new reservation on the spot either. He went BESERK when I told him the car he selected had visible damages all over and started aggressively writing up all over the car receipt like a crazy person. He kept disputing the damages and refused to go look at them with me. He was trying to BULLY ME into accepting this car, but I refused. I just rented a car from March 9-14. The car itself wasn't bad. The seats were uncomfortable but it was clean and got good mileage. The customer service however was awful. Out of the six employees I interacted with only one was pleasant. They were generally unfriendly and unhelpful. At drop off I asked an employee where I should go. He told me I should have left the keys in the vehicle and rudely said, "I thought you knew that." They also added in some surprise fees at check in. I will not be renting from Fox again. read more

DO NOT rental a car from Fox Rent A Car at the PHX AirPort. I returned my car 11 days early(February 11th at 4:00 pm) and was told at the counter I would get a refund. The agent assured me I would get a refund as I was worried there was no paper trail they could give me. He said if I didn't see a refund to call their customer service number. I called Fox twice and my travel credit card company(booked the car on my travel cc) and they are saying since it says no refunds on early return on the remtal agreement they can't give me a refund. I was never told this when I rented the car on February 9th. I also could not understand the employee in the return parking garage drop off as he didn't speak clear English. He made me go up to the agent counter because he didn't understand that I was dropping off early. Fox made double the money on me dropping off my car early as I am sure they immediately rented it to someone else on that day. This should be criminal. I will never rent through Fox again. read more

Do not rent from Fox Rent a Car Denver! You get to the location have a reservation for a car, and conveniently they don't have any vehicles available. Was offered an upgrade, said no, it wouldn't fit 4 people. Then offered a larger SUV as it would be over an hour before ours would be available. How does a company not know when a vehicle is to be returned and allows more rentals to keep coming in? We had already paid $123.67 for our initial reservation, but ended up paying an additional $245.28 for this upgrade we didn't want!! So I rented a grey Volkswagen through Fox rental car in Phoenix (Sky Harbor Airport) 7-8 through 7-11-25. I extended for one more day, which cost us an additional $80. Okay, cool. Vehicle checked in at 11:19pm. On 7-11. But then, they went on and lied about my return day and time and charge me $100's in additional fees. The agent-Octovio at the time of rental said, "I'm sorry, we did not have enough staff to check your vehicle in on time, so the next shift checked it in at 4 something in the A.M. 7-13-25. I left a hand written note for the mgr-Trish to call and or email me. Not nothing! No call or email. They just lied on me and made me pay for it! They have denied my refund without even investigating or reaching out to me, as customer services emails and escalate the issue. Still nothing! Fox drops the ball on their customers and they lie!! I will never deal with them ever again. They rob travelers and screw us around! Worst place ever! Plus you can't even speak to anyone at the Fox rental in the airport unless your in person. DON'T DO IT!!! No matter how good the deal looks, they will stick it to you! I last rented a car from Fox ten years ago. It was the dirtiest and most foul smelling car I have ever rented. The staff at the rental center didn't care. I drove it with the windows down for four days on my vacation and said I would never rent from your company again. Fast forward to this past November. I was enticed with a "black friday" deal through expedia for a full size SUV rental on my vacation. I decided to give Fox another try. When I arrived at the rental center in Phoenix the gentleman at the counter was friendly and started my experience very positively. When I got to the area where the car was waiting I was pleased. There was a Jeep Grand Cherokee that was in great condition and very clean. Again, very pleased. When I got to the booth to check out with the vehicle they stopped me. The license plate was going to expire during my rental term. I could not take the vehicle. There were no other full size SUVs available. I was downgraded to a Nissan Rogue. The staff at the rental center said I would be refunded the difference when I returned the vehicle. When I returned the Rogue, there was no adjustment to my bill. I contacted your customer service team to inquire about the billing. I have been told that the Nissan Rogue was a "complimentary upgrade" from the Jeep Grand Cherokee. In what world is that an upgrade?!? There are other options out there. Don't rent from Fox. read more

Bait and switch. Terrible service, filthy car. Fox advertises the lowest price, as does Priceline, which directed me to them. I had rented a mid-sized car for $28.00, per day at the San Antonio Airport. What thieves they are. Upon arrival with my family, the woman at the counter gleefully told me that they had no midsized cars, that I had to rent a full-sized SUV, and that I MUST pay the difference. The difference was over $300.00! The SUV did not have Maps or a similar app on board, and we were unable to connect our cell phones to utilize the large screen. First time renting from Fox. So far customer services sucks! especially the people that give you the cars! They are all miserably rude. Secondly, I had booked for a 4runner or similar and when I got there to pick it up she said, you can pick a suv from row 10-12. Mind you I had not seen the front of their parking lot since this rows where at the very back so when I asked her if they had any 4Runners she said no. I believed her. When I was finally leaving on my way out I seen all this 4Runners just park there I was so confused but I was in a hurry I couldn't go back to ask her why she lie to me and why she couldn't give me the car I booked for. Also because I had already gone back to change the 1st suv I had picked because it was making a very bad/loud noise as soon I stepped on that brake so I had to park it back and get different one. After reading all this reviews I'm so glad I changed the vehicle or they were probably going to blame me for that and charge me. I'm going to say this right now, I did not pay for insurance of any kind because I am using my own , I did not payed for gas or anything I didn't need other than for a second driver and an extra day! I rented a car for my wife and when she picked up the rental she was upsold to the amount of 175 dollars without [a] being told she was being upsold and [b] without informing her that the vehicle we rented was not available. Calling billing was fruitless and their fallback claim was that she signed the agreement.. after being offered a paultry 115 dollar refund she would not refund the upset. I'll be disputing the entirety of the charge with Visa.. Never EVER in my 40 years of travel have either my or my family been treated so deceptively by a rental car agency. I had reserved my ca on online for a week rental. My flight arrived at 3:30pm, I immediately got my luggage and headed for the shuttle to car rental hub. Found the Fox counter and waited in line for about 15 minutes. When I got to the counter the young man said my reservation was canceled because I was late. I said that had to be wrong because I wasn't picking up till 4:30pm. He said that it said 12:00 and we were four hours late. I tried to explain to him that there's no way I would put 12:00pm pick up when my flight didn't land till 3:30. Not my first rodeo! Any way he said he could rebook me but it would cost more. I had to get to a dinner meeting so I said fine. Gave me a small SUV. Outside was filthy, no drives floor mat or cover for the back hatch to protect view. I felt totally screwed over. The vehicle was nice and clean. The check out line not long. The agent at check out was experienced but mislead me to thinking he was doing me a service steering me to their cheaper gas rate than what was just off airport. What he failed to tell me, was that when I agreed to use have then fill the gas tank upon return that I was actually paying for a full tank of gas regardless of how full it was when returned. Shame on me for trusting him to be fully disclosing and not reading the rental agreement. Secondary I was charged for an extra day even though the vehicle was returned before it was due by an our a half hour. Upon return I asked for check out paperwork and was told there was none and it would be emailed. Getting home I get the email and discover the receipt showed it getting back three hours later. It took me a phone call and proof I returned the vehicle when I said I had. Luckily I had taken several photos of the vehicle at return and was able to show, to the second, when the photo was taken.
