    Strawberry and cream Kolache
    Samantha G.

Worth the hype!! TIP: come here early!! They sell out fast! We were here around 11 am on a Saturday morning, and all the savory options were gone, and they only had a few of the sweet options left (strawberry, Nutella, strawberry cream, apricot, and cinnamon). Service: Quick, and very friendly Ambiance: cute little bakery with some seating available. By the time we got there, we were the only ones! Maybe people just purchase to go and do not stay? Not sure Food: ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I wish this bakery was not so far!! I will make sure to come out where every time I am in the area. I tried their Strawberry Cream, Apricot, and Cinnamon kolaches. They were all so amazing! I am blown away. I don't even like sweets, but this place is hands down, my favorite bakery in DFW so far. I'm a believer!

    Czech fruit kolaches & klobasniks

I highly recommend Four Czechs Bakery in Fate, Texas (30 miles east of Dallas). This is a generational family business that bakes their ethnic specialty: Kolaches, and Klobasniks. That's it. A variety of kolaches in mostly sweet or fruity flavors. These are light, fluffy baked rolls, with a flavored center area. Not fried, everything is baked here in this very clean & neat facility. Klobasniks are "pig in a blanket" sausages baked inside a roll. Spicy or regular, both are delicious. Majority of orders are takeout, but you can dine-in, and a fresh pot of coffee is brewed here. FROZEN KOLACHES: 6 packs of frozen kolaches in vacuum sealed pouches, in the lobby cooler (self-serve) Take home and microwave (instructions printed on package) No drive-thru, located across from the Shell Gas in downtown Fate, Texas. Read their story posted on the lobby wall.

    Fruit Kolache!

Make sure you get there early! I drove out after dropping off kiddos at school and made it here a smidge after 9am and there were only 5 fruit kolaches left! Of course I bought one of each flavor. I gobbled it up in my car because it was still warm from the oven. Oh my it was sooo delicious with the little crunchies on top!! I will have to come back... earlier (they open at 6am) to snag a meat filled kloblasnik (my original intent!)

Yummy! Haven't been here, come now! This was our first visit as well and we were super pleased. We tried the Sausage and cheddar kolache as well as the peach, apricot, and strawberry cream kolaches. Owners are very sweet and chatted us up. Several repeat customers were there...I could tell from conversations...so costumers are treated well and remembered. Thanks!! I'll be back.

When you first come in,it is like a small doughnut shop. Nothing that sets it apart from everywhere else. What DOES set it apart is the friendly customer service, going above and beyond. Idk which if the family members the woman was that was serving us,but she has a great smile and friendly attitude. We came in at around 11am,that's 1 hour before they close. My suggestion is to get there earlier in the day because by the time we got there, all of their Kolabasniky (the ones with meat) were all sold out EXCEPT for the Sausage and Cheese. Since we got a "Czech's Mix" box that requires 6 kolabasniky and 6 kolache, she gave us a discount for the missing 2 kolabasniky and gave us 2 more kolaches for the inconvenience. Our favorite in the box??? 100% BUTTERED PECAN!!! 2nd favorite is Blueberry Cream 3rd favorite is Cherry

Tried this place for the first time and it was soooo good! Everything was super tasty! The first day we went they were sold out of all the pastry's so we tried the sausage with cream cheese. It was so good we went the next day a little earlier and were able to try the pastry's. We tried blueberry cream, apple and butter pecan and all 3 flavors were so delicious. We will definitely be back to try more!

This Czech bakery is better than most of the Czech bakeries in Ennis or West! Four Czech's has a great variety of Kolaches at good prices. My wife is Czech, and we have tried kolaches from everywhere we go, but the best are hidden in the heart of this tiny town! The meat-filled version (no one says Klobasnik anymore) is huge, with several types of meat to choose from. Very filling, and I can't wait to eat my Briscuit one later! The pastry filled versions are tangy and sweet, with plenty of fruity flavors! Yes of course; they have chocolate versions, too! Clean shop with a nice family to run it; PERFECT!!

Hello, I am going to be visiting from California and I wanted to bring some kolaches home with me. How well do they keep into the next day?

Hi William, great question! They keep really well into the next day, especially if they are covered or even refrigerated. We just recommend warming them up a little bit in the microwave for maximum deliciousness!

Thank the algorithm for suggesting this place. I was born in America, so was my dad, and his dad, but before that my "-Ski" elders immigrated from central Poland to Pennsylvania. I remember Nanny's cooking, and this is it! We rolled in 10 strong and ordered almost everything in the menu and passed plates around. Tried all the soups - Behold the Best Beet Borscht in NTX, the Pickle soup is great too, haluski bacon noodles delicious side, and the big Kijowski sausage sandwich was over a foot long. Ashley, Damien, & Tim didn't expect a heard of hungry pollocks, and they all bent over backwards to get everything together for us. Will be making this hour- plus drive again, still some things on the menu we missed. Oh, and I almost forgot the giant PEROGIS!! from traditional potato varieties with cheese, jalapeños, and other Texas twists, all the way to Italian meat and cabbage stuffed delights, every variant was delicious. we plowed through probably two dozen, ok so I did tap out and had to bring several home for second dinner. If you want a good food adventure, or have any Polish heritage and don't know the food of your ancestors, it is so worth the trip to Granny Dee's.

Having some Polish blood running through the veins, I was pretty excited to see and try many things on the menu that I grew up with. So I proceeded to order like 3-4 different plates (I was with my girlfriend again, but I knew what my mission was.... Pirogies- really good. We had the cabbage and mushroom; tater and cheese and Piccadillo (a little Tex mex version with ground beef, potato and jalepeno). Honestly, the picadillo was my favorite, all were good though. The sauerkraut and ribs were tasty, they take all of the fun out of it by taking the meat off the bones, but better for service. We had the sausage plate which was really good and finally the potato pancakes with apple sauce. Everything was great. Did not know it at the time, but Granny Dee was our sever!! Sweet woman, great service and we have followed similar paths in our movings over the years. The place over all is in an old building, very nice, clean and comfortable. I recommend the place for a little taste of home. May not be like my mom's, but better than me having to make it. I will be stopping again in my travels.

I'm actually very glad we came here instead of the other places we had planned on going for lunch. When we went, it was not crowded and we got seated quickly. This place is fairly big, with plenty of tables and space. They also have a dedicated "beer garden" on one side of the restaurant. For food, i had to get jager schnitzel with spaetzle. My wife ended up getting duck. Before my food came out, they also brought out a salad. I don't know if it was part of the jager schnitzel entree or the duck... But the salad was amazing. Everything was pickled and very intense flavor. Both entrees were great and i also like the fact that they have a kid's menu that serves german food. (I was afraid the kids menu would have simple items like burger and or chicken tenders, but that's not the case here.) the lunch portions were perfectly sized.... granted its not "texas sized" but it did its job and i left satisfied. What i really like about the place is the interior decor. It looks like the owners brought back so many trinkets, souvenirs and photos from their trips to Germany and it makes it feel more authentic. This was actually one of the saving grace from waiting to get our food, i tried to look around to see all the different things on displayed. Service was great. I'll definitely be back!

I can't say for certain what caused it, but guessing maybe something from the display case, but the flavor was so HORRIBLE that I only managed two bites of each before throwing them away because I didn't feel comfortable eating any more in fear of getting sick. The coffee frosting also had an old, stale coffee flavor. The chocolate cake was better. It was good, but not great. The cake itself wasn't dry, but it wasn't super moist either. One detail I did appreciate was that each slice was wrapped with paper along the sides to help keep it fresh, and not drying out in th I would have gladly taken the cakes back, but I had purchased them to go and was already too far away by the time I tasted them. As someone who absolutely loves cake, I truly wanted this place to become a favorite. It was disappointing because I had such high hopes based on the reviews. While the atmosphere and customer service were wonderful, the cakes simply didn't meet my expectations.

Taste of Europe - Arlington…read more This place is not the same as it was 20+ years ago. It's gone downhill. Overpriced. Small portions. Mediocre quality. Very misleading. OUTSIDE: You can tell that they don't take care of the building. The once beautiful mural on the side of the building is now faded and has not had any brushes of strokes to revive the once vibrant colors. The parking lot has seen better days. INTERIOR: Once you enter inside, on each side of the entrance is a beautiful Russian themed murals of old folk tale's characters. You'll also see Russian themed nesting dolls and a famous chef picture visited here in 2016, Guy Fieri. The dining room looks outdated, dingy and too much wasted open space. They could use more tables and chairs. When it first opened it looked so much better. I used to come here a lot as a child and it was so nice that you could enjoy authentic Russian cuisines. Afterwards, go look around at the Russian souvenirs you might want to buy. They also offered a large selection of Russian sweets and other Russian products you could take home. Unfortunately, as of January 2026, the grocery store closed. The large collection of authentic Russian souvenirs have long been discontinued to be sold here. Now, it's just a dingy and outdated space. I fully understand that the new owner is trying his best. But, as someone that used to come here a lot, I can tell you with full certainty, there is nothing Russian about this place anymore. In the main dining room, it would do them good to add some paintings. As of 2026, the walls are bare and the place looks like they are barely surviving. CUISINE: I came here with my family to check out this place and see if anything changed or stayed the same. Overpriced food with small portions. We ordered Olivie Salad and it was $5.99 for half a cup. The salad was great and reminded me of childhood. The presentation of the salad wasn't the best from what I remember. The original owner took pride in making every dish look creative. It came in a beautiful Russian crystal bowl. Now, they serve you plain white bowl and the presentation is mediocre. PELMENI: We also ordered Pelmeni, $17.99. As someone who is from Russia, Pelmeni has always been the epicenter of Russian traditional dish. It has a very distinct texture and flavors. You could either make it the right way, like your grandmother used to make. By hand, with love. Or, you could do it the modern way and just buy frozen. Dump it into boiling water until the dough surfaces to the top. Previous owner, used the old methods. Every Pelmeni was made by hand, in house. It wasn't frozen and the taste reminded you of your grandmother's cooking. Now, they buy frozen Pelmeni and go the easy route of boiling them for five to ten minutes. The taste was ok, but you could tell that they were not made in house. We asked our waitress and she confirmed that they're store bought, frozen. The presentation was mediocre at best. The bowl had too much water in it. The water and Pelmeni had blend flavor. Hardly any seasoning was on it. I dumped all the water from my Pelmeni bowl into another bowl. The only good thing about this dish was having a good portion of sour cream to go with it. SERVICE: The service was mediocre, too. Our waitress didn't seem like she wanted to be there and rushed us to order. Which is ironic, considering that only few guests were inside. She didn't come by and asked if we wanted any drink refills. After we finished eating, another man came over and asked if we wanted dessert and we declined. He brings us our check and says, "You pay upfront."Customer service can improve here and be more guest focused. OVERALL: After visiting this place and seeing the state that it's in, I think they are on survivor mode and may very well close their doors soon. They have to revamp this place. "Eye appeal is buy appeal." Repaint the outside. Dining room, add more lights and change the flooring. The floor tiles look like from an outdated restroom. At this time, after my visit, in good faith, I cannot recommend this place.
