I mentioned I had just moved from Chicago, and they made my first visit feel extra special. Even when they're busy during the morning rush, the service is always friendly and worth the wait. The kolache selection is unlike anywhere else--my favorites are the bulgogi beef and the jerky link. And the crème brûlée donut? Absolutely amazing. Hot Donuts is exactly what the name promises--hot, fresh, delicious donuts served by some of the kindest people around! Every employee we've encountered has been incredibly friendly, patient, and thorough. We've only scratched the surface of their menu so far, but we're determined to try everything they offer. The cinnamon twist donut is hands-down my new favorite donut. If you visit, do yourself a favor and order one! We also tried a maple-glazed donut, which was a fantastic choice and something new for us. Every bite was fresh and flavorful. The food isn't limited to donuts either. Jason tried the tacos on one visit and the bulgogi on another, and both were absolutely amazing. It's rare to find a place that does both sweet and savory this well. We still have our eyes on the cinnamon rolls and cronuts, and honestly, my mouth starts watering just thinking about them. What an interesting donut shop! Nothing boring about their menu, definitely not your ordinary selection. Fruit topped, variety of cream filled, lots of kolache choices and the standard fare, as well. Tried this place because of the good yelp reviews. The good: it is a donut shop, and the donuts are good and inexpensive. The bad: the young man behind the counter didn't ask if we were eating here or taking it to go (we were eating there), so we wound up having to use an open napkin as a plate/placemat. There are two tables in the place, and both were covered with remnants of the last person's meal (which he saw me wiping off before we sat down, and didn't come over with a cloth or anything). If that wasn't enough, one table had the garbage can lid sitting right in the middle of it (gross!). The young man was absorbed by his phone too much to actually put a bag in the garbage can, clean off the tables, or pretty much do anything other than take your money. The bagless garbage can had a folded newspaper in the bottom (to absorb any leaks?) that was from March. Yes, March...this is October. Disgusting. I hate to leave bad reviews, but I don't trust a food establishment where employees think garbage can parts on the eating surface is an ok thing. read more
