Pretty solid food at Jorg's. Had been meaning to try them out for a while and glad I did. Has a tavern/pub vibe with lots of European and Austrian decor up. Waitresses are all dressed up in traditional clothing as well. Food was pretty solid. Pork schnitzel was good but could use more seasoning. Breading was falling off. The potato salad was actually my favorite thing and it had a great vinegary taste to balance the fried schnitzel. Spatzle had a good texture though also a little bland so you have to pair it with something else. The pretzel was solid as well though nothing too amazing. It was our first time trying Austrian food. We ordered the pork schnitzel, Budapest bratwurst, and a pretzel bratwurst sandwich. Overall, the food was average. The pasta that came with the schnitzel and the mushroom sauce lacked flavor. The French fries with the sandwich didn't seem very fresh either. For drinks, we had an espresso martini and a Himbeergeist schnapps. The schnapps was strong and good, but the espresso martini was just okay and a bit light. Best food in Plano...cooked to order. Waitress was amazing as always and we try to get her table everytime we go. We never went without a beverage. Food came out as soon as cooked and was steaming hot. It is a little crowded with about 30 tables, which lends to more personalized service. They've added an outdoor place to eat, but in our 105+ temps, I'm sure it wasn't busy. Recommend getting reservations especially for weekend nights. read more

This place was alright. Not bad by any measure, I didn't taste anything special either. The server was great. Very friendly and kept tabs on us the entire time. The ambiance seemed on point for this type of place. I'm not sure how old this place is, but it seems well lived in and kinda dated, but this is reflective of what I think is the old world charm. The food was okay. Grilled sausage was exactly that. The cabbage had caraway seeds so be mindful of that. The potato salad was pretty much left on the plate. It didn't seem worth the calories. I would rather of had plain over what that was. It wasn't bad, just not to my wife or my own liking. I would be back to try something else maybe. So. So. Good. We had the breaded pork Schnitzel and added Oma's cream sauce. We traded the potato salad for Spatzle. We also ate a sampler of Wurst with Sauerkraut. I had the black forest schnitzel sandwich on pretzel bun. Nice and cheesy, slice of Swiss on both buns so 2 cheese was great. Cranberry sauce paired nicely but I wish there was some spice or acid (squeeze of lemon maybe). They also do not have any hot sauces here, I asked. Pretzel bun was nice and soft, not dense. The potato salad was nice but a bit watery. Service was great. They mentioned all the food is prepared fresh so I knew it would take a while to arrive. Avoid this place. Great atmosphere, but the service is awful. If you go, eat beforehand you'll be waiting at least an hour for food. We had a 7:00 PM reservation and didn't get our food until after 8:00. They mixed up our table, asked us to move, switched our server, and by the time the food arrived it wasn't even worth the wait. Wowowow. Three words: this is Vienna! I don't often on a whim go to a restaurant without looking at the menu or yelp ;) first but I had a really good feeling I haven't seen a restaurant specifically for Austrian cuisine much less an authentic one!!!! When you first walk in you see so many beautiful banners and pictures on the walls- all mementos from the owners travels and lives. This a family owned establishment- the husband is from Austria and grew up there and the wife is from the states but have spent lots of time in Vienna as well. My husband and I had the pleasure of finding all this and more history about the place from the wife. She was sweet to check up on us to make sure we were having a good experience and answered all the questions we had. To make the experience even more amazing, their son, who was working here part time to help out on busy days, was super cool and friendly! Even though the place was PACKED he never made us feel neglected and was so friendly and welcoming. We ordered a chicken schnitzel meal and a sausage sampler platter. Tasty scale: 12/10!!!!! Made me have a flashback from when I visited Vienna on a school trip. So fresh and delightful! The real surprise were the fries like so perfectly salted and crispy. Also even though I'm not a huge beer drinker I did love their Hefeweizen beer - the common American beer just is not even comparable to that at all! So so good. My husband tried another beer which was nice as well. And as a "dessert" I had apple schnapps. That was so dangerously good I could've had so many of those I swear! I would love to make a reservation next time and sit at the bar to talk to the other owner. I have a best friend who studied German in school and is still able to hold a conversation in that language and I know her and her husband would love to check this place out with me. I cannot wait! The one thing which isn't bad in any means is that the restaurant is super popular and we got in just in time. Jörg Fercher, (the owner and creator of the menu), his son Derek (the manager), and his wife Cathy (the business manager), are great people, and good friends for many years. I worked here for ten years. I come back to eat whenever I can. The building and atmosphere are perfect. The food is amazing; delicious & healthy). Jörg gets a lot of his meat from family butchers who travel many miles to deliver it. Everything is very clean and high quality. It was rated the cleanest restaurant in Plano, from 1000s, for well over a decade. ( don't know if the city still does that.) They have schnitzels, both cooked in amazing cream sauces like the Oma's, with Hungarian paprika. There are also lean wursts. The goulash (tender beef in a gravy with Hungarian paprika) is excellent! There are soft pretzels with Düsseldorf mustard, amazing salads and sandwiches, and desserts like the Tiramisu, which I consider to be the best anywhere. And if you drink, there are lots of excellent European beers on draft and more in bottles. My favorites are the Hefeweizens (sweet), the Warsteiner Dunkel (dark lager), and the Köstritzer Schwarzbier (a creamy dark, semi-stout). The management and staff are attentive, competent, and friendly. You owe it to yourself to try this place out. I can almost guarantee that you will return, probably multiple times! read more

To start, we ordered the Liptauer Teller - pretzels with cheese spread. YUM! Best pretzel we have ever had. My husband ordered a side salad and then Chicken Weinerschnitzel & Spatzle + side of Sauerkraut and Kaiser Franz Josef cream sauce. I ordered the Kaiser Franz Josef Schnitzel as it comes. Been wanting to try this place for a while, and it did not disappoint! Tried the wurst sampler.. so good! So many different flavored sausage samples, and it gives me an idea of what I might order next time. I've had many breaded schnitzels elsewhere before, but was intrigued by a sautéed version on the menu. Got the Jagerschnitzel.. so so good! If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Stopped in on a rainy day to find a lovely, cozy German spot. We were sold on the warm atmosphere, but the food and service were perfect as well. Best German cuisine I've had in Texas. We live an hour away but will be sure to visit again. Reservations recommended, and the kitchen closes between lunch and early dinner service. We were seated immediately. We had two different cream-sauced pork schnitzels, no appetizers. The pork went down easily with the spaetzle. We were surprised that a vegetable cost extra. We thought that would have been on the main dish's plate. It was extra. I thought that was a no-no. The venue was subdued and a little quiet, but it just did not have the pizazz that it normally does. It was a $70 bill (tip in this total) with two dinners, medium beer and the red cabbage. Over-priced. We won't return. These are good people running the restaurant, but it feels commercialized, and they need to milk every penny from the customer. Henk's is a great alternative. read more

We went as a party of 2 right before dinner hours and didn't have to wait, however it definitely gets busy fast so try to get a reservation to avoid long wait times. I LOVED this spot. When we walked in, we instantly felt transported to Vienna. It was decorated in beer signs and other fun memorabilia. Our waiter warned us she was the only one working, but even with so many tables she was super quick and friendly. The food was delicious. We started with the liptauer teller - oh my gosh - so good! For my meal, I got the fried cheese and spatzle. My friend ordered the budapest bratwurst and said it was wonderful. My favorite part of the meal had to be the Sacher Torte! I really liked it because it wasn't quite as rich as other chocolate cakes. It had a wonderful fruity flavor, too. I look forward to returning! read more

This is a very modest location. More of an old- world Inn than a traditional restaurant. This certainly enhances the ambiance.Reservations are STRONGLY recommended - and allow adequate time to find a parking space which may be challenging. Our group of four were promptly seated at our reservation time, as the place was packed. The service was very personable and good. The menu is certainly focused on popular dishes from Vienna. The sausages and red cabbage were quite tasty. I'm ok with being charged a fee to split a meal but the kitchen typically handles the splitting before it comes to the table.
