Great beer selection and authentic German cuisine. One of the best! The pretzel is great!read more

This place is more like a 4.5 out of 5 stars. The only…read morething preventing it from getting 5 stars was the wait time to get our food. Everything else was fantastic. I'm actually very glad we came here instead of the other places we had planned on going for lunch. When we went, it was not crowded and we got seated quickly. This place is fairly big, with plenty of tables and space. They also have a dedicated "beer garden" on one side of the restaurant. For food, i had to get jager schnitzel with spaetzle. My wife ended up getting duck. Before my food came out, they also brought out a salad. I don't know if it was part of the jager schnitzel entree or the duck... But the salad was amazing. Everything was pickled and very intense flavor. Both entrees were great and i also like the fact that they have a kid's menu that serves german food. (I was afraid the kids menu would have simple items like burger and or chicken tenders, but that's not the case here.) the lunch portions were perfectly sized.... granted its not "texas sized" but it did its job and i left satisfied. What i really like about the place is the interior decor. It looks like the owners brought back so many trinkets, souvenirs and photos from their trips to Germany and it makes it feel more authentic. This was actually one of the saving grace from waiting to get our food, i tried to look around to see all the different things on displayed. Service was great. I'll definitely be back!

Went here with a friend for lunch today. We each got a German beer and then split the Reuben and a…read moretwo sausage plate (Polish and Hungarian Bratwurst.) The plate came with sauerkraut and potato salad and the Hungarian brat had a nice little bit of spice to it. The table had a delicious mustard and horseradish as well. Despite being too full we also ordered a slice of Black Forrest cake to-go, but had to take a bite before we left. It was moist and not too sweet! (We had to! It's in the name!) The restaurant also has a store! Service was quick and friendly! Would definitely come again if in the area.

This is a no nonsense diner that serves European and American-style breakfast, lunch and dinner. After a co-worker told me about the bakery, I was excited to try both the bakery and the restaurant. I ordered the German breakfast which came with biscuits (awesome, by the way), hashbrowns, sausage and two eggs. Everything was incredibly simple, yet delicious. I loved the German mustard and horseradish that was brought out with the meal as well. We definitely want to come back for lunch next time.

Met up with an old friend here for drinks on a Monday night and really enjoyed it. Super diverse…read morecrowd, very casual, and still lively even on a weekday. We got a cheeseboard, but if I had to recommend one thing, definitely the fried mushrooms if you like mushrooms. They're huge and the spicy cilantro sour cream sauce is killer! We sat in the indoor/outdoor area, which was my fave. It can take a minute to flag someone down when it's busy, but that felt understandable for how busy they were. Easy place to settle into and lose track of time a bit--just drinks, conversation, and good food without overthinking it.

I came for "just one pint" and left three days later wearing someone else's sweater, speaking in a…read morequestionable accent, and convinced I'm 1/16th Irish on my mother's side (DNA test still pending). The Guinness is poured so perfectly it should be in the Louvre. The bartender, Austin (I'm pretty sure that's his real name and not just what he tells customers), has the patience of a saint and the sarcasm of a man who's been asked "Do you have anything like Guinness but less dark?" one too many times. Highlights: The fish & chips were so good I briefly considered converting to Catholicism just so I could thank God properly. The bathroom graffiti is poetic. "Roses are red, violets are blue, I came for a piss and met half the crew." - actual quote. Then you've got Hannah, who's basically the pub's chaos coordinator. She's got blonde hair that could guide ships in a fog and a laugh that echoes like a banshee having a great time. Don't sleep on Wes - He'll nod once, slide you your drink, and if you're lucky, mutter something profound like "Life's short, drink good stout." Then he disappears to polish glasses like he's auditioning for a monastery. Absolute mystery man, 10/10 enigma. And rounding out the crew is Paige, the wildcard. She's got stories that start with "Back in then..." and end with police chases, lost sheep, and at least one exploding still. She'll flirt with your grandma, roast your ex in three sentences or less. There is also this Asian guy that looks like a confused troll with blonde hair. He lives up to the saying once you go Asian it's amasian. Can't forget the blonde girl that's going through the Dallas legacy transition of bottle service to real estate. Shes as good at serving as she is selling real estate. These people run the bar like a well-oiled dysfunctional family. They banter with each other louder than the jukebox, remember birthdays you forgot you told them, and have an unspoken code: if you're having a rough night, they'll slide you a free shot and pretend it was a mistake. If you're being a gobshite, they'll roast you into next week without missing a pour.

I have only been to the Dallas bars a handful of times, but Skellig is easily one of my favorites…read more There are three main areas at Skellig which include the inside bar, the large patio, and the side patio. Most recently, we went to The Skellig the night after Halloween. It also happened to be Game 7 of the World Series where the Blue Jays tragically lost, but the game was still a high value product and Skellig had it playing on a huge projector screen that made it easy for everyone to enjoy. Inside it feels like your classic pub, but after hours it becomes a pretty traditional bar as people pack in and have a great time. All their drafts and specialty drinks are listed on their chalkboard wall and the bar sits perfectly in the middle with bartenders on all four sides which is perfect for a busy night out especially if it is Halloween, Game 7, or a night of great college football. The DJ was playing heaters all night with all the crowd favorites you want and it was crowded but not too extreme. One of my favorite features of The Skellig is the genuine Guinness on a nitrogen tap, poured the true Guinness way which creates a refreshing beverage you can split the G with or just chug. There is a lot of area to work with at The Skellig and it is nice that there is such a large bar in the middle of Dallas. RIYL: Pubs or hearing a lot of Drake at said pub
