We kept passing by Lucky's Hot Chicken and admiring the fact that they made such a cool looking restaurant and left the historical integrity of the structure intact when it first opened and had been meaning to come by and try it out. We finally stopped in and I'm so glad that we did, I got the red velvet waffle with chicken strips and I wasn't anticipating for the waffle to have much of the red velvet flavor but it really did and that was pleasantly surprised. The three chicken tenders that come with it were huge, hot and juicy. I wasn't totally sure of the spice level so I went with "Feeling Lucky" which was pretty mild but still delicious and well seasoned. The mac and cheese was creamy and the flavor of the cheese sauce reminded me a little of cheez whiz so it brought back a little bit of childhood nostalgia that I really liked it. Not as good as a baked mac and cheese would be with the golden cheese crust on top but it was still good nonetheless. My husband got a chicken wrap with fried okra and he said it was really tasty, I snuck a couple of pieces of his okra and really enjoyed it!! What's his is mine, right? Always drive past Lucky's and decided to give it a go. Was feeling a smash burger and they said they have one. Ordered the smash burger with fries, Mac and cheese and the tenders with medium heat. The "smash" burger wasn't really a flat patty but it was still good. The Mac and cheese was super watery, it was not the best to me. Fries were fresh and just regular crinkle fries. The tenders were the best thing and had a lot of flavor. Some with probably think it's over-seasoned. I got a side of the lucky sauce and that was a very good sauce. Truly amazing hot chicken joint!! From head to toe, this place has it all: great service, clean establishment, great vibe, very spacious, and the inside of the restaurant feels very modern/up to date. Wouldn't be surprised if it's been renovated recently. The chicken is truly some of the best chicken I've ever had. Very flavorful, has tons of moisture, the seasoning is just right and the sauces that come with it are phenomenal too. The slider also comes with cole slaw and pickles which all checked out. The cheese fries were done equally as well, especially with their seasoning. They have something called shake fries I'm definitely going to have to try the next time I come in. Lastly, they have free soft serve you're welcome to par take in and they have three flavors: vanilla, chocolate, and a combination of both called a swirl. The only drawback maybe that it's a tad pricy, but you definitely get back what you pay for if not more in service and food quality. I don't understand why the reviews for lucky's is so low!! It was so good and at such a good value. I paid less than $15 for my meal and in this economy that's pretty dang good. The interior is so cool. It has a retro diner style and I'm all here for it. There are tons of photo ops and the inside is spacious. Service was solid and our food came out pretty fast. The chicken though! It was so juicy and flavourful. I got the second spicy level and it wasn't insanely hot. I probably could have gone up one more. Lucky's is truly amazing! Another Nashville style chicken place. If you haven't had it, I really recommend. It's not in the best of neighborhoods, but it's at least a somewhat safe. Place is really clean and really big. They have some different options compared to other Nashville style places, such as their sides. Chicken is great and pretty spicy (wish it was spicier). I got the hottest you could go. It has some kick to it for sure, but wish they had a level even hotter. Very good chicken and juicy. The sides are good, I recommend the shake fries. I happened to come across this place while visiting the city for an appointment and decided to try it out. I ordered the tenders and fries in medium heat. The tenders were a lot smaller then expected and thin. I guess because they were thin the chicken was a bit dry. I'm not sure if they had pre fried the chicken and had it sitting out but when I got my order the chicken felt warm not hot and some of my fries were undercooked/raw hard on the inside. Tbh the flavor was good but I wished my fries were cooked all the way and that the tenders were a bit bigger and juicer. Since this place is so far away I wouldn't purposely make my way to this place but I can see how people who live close by would come here again. I thought it was cool that you could serve your own soft serve icecream for free. Honestly that had to be one of the nicest perk to coming here. It seems like a good place to bring your kids for that perk but the quality of food was just okay. This place seems to have such good potential if they fix the chicken quality, the way they cook it, and figuring out consistent quality control for their food.
