Awesome chicken wing spot located around the Lakewood area! I got the 2 piece dark chicken combo that came with fries and a drink and was left full and content, especially for the price. Only $7 all around for quality chicken and quick service. Also, the fries were seasoned to perfection too with their Cajun seasoning. They only allow drive thru at the moment, but the service is fast and there's never a line. Another great spot I found during the "lockdown." Chicken house is a no frill fried chicken place that's drive-thru only. Whenever I came here, I was always greeted by the owners. They're always so nice! Price is very reasonable, and their chicken is always so crisp. One pro tip here is to try to come here when they just open. I came here in the evening (towards closing), and tho the chicken was still good, but it's not as fresh (very common for a fried chicken spot). I'm not a huge fan of their tenders. Their bone-in chicken is usually better seasoned. I might give the tenders another try, but I prefer bone-in in general. Chicken House has been a favorite for many years. I have a Popeye's and a Golden Chick within walking distance of me, but I can't be bothered with that nonsense. I make the 20 minute drive to Chicken House whenever I get that craving. The best chicken is when they first open but consistently good all day long, super crispy and nicely seasoned. I've been curious about this place for some time, even when it was Brother's Chicken. Last night after happy hour I was feeling a little hungry. There aren't many drive-through options driving down Gaston, so I was prepared to make something at home. But then I saw the OPEN sign on the Chicken House so I made a quick turn to the drive-through. Ordering from the drive-through proved to be challenging, as the person taking my order didn't understand me, and I didn't understand him. I went ahead and pulled up to the window and ordered from a sweet lady. After taking my order, she asked me to pull around, which drives me nuts when there's no one behind me. But whatever. I ordered the chicken finger basket and it took forever for it to come out (pro-tip: call ahead). Finally home I enjoyed the chicken very much. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. The gravy was good, although it didn't taste homemade or anything, but that was okay with me. The two pieces of white bread were a nice addition as well as the fries. I found this lil spot one day while I was out and about. I was in the mood for chicken, chicken gizzards, or chicken tenders, or a couple of wings I really didn't know but I settled upon a gizzard snack. The gizzards themselves were seasoned good, but a little tough like they don't soak them. I wasn't even too mad about that. What I was upset about was the price. Per the picture this was a "snack" But I paid almost 7 dollars for a couple of gizzards scattered over some greasy white bread. I feel that I can find some other great things on the menu because the flavor and breading was on point. I just wouldn't order the gizzard snack again. Other than that I was happy with my visit. This is a very small dive with a drive thru. There is no inside seating except the tiny bar top lining the window. In other words, food is to go only. It is hot and humid inside, and, they have the place boarded/ barred like they are in East L.A. Seriously! Is the crime that bad here? You walk into a small 6'x10' (appx) area that is separated from the grilling/prep/ordering area by a metal door and plexi glass. You order through a small opening by the register (appx 1'x2', just enough opening to pass the food through). The drive through window is protected by bars, and, when they pass the food to the customer it is through a small opening, then they reach through the bars to hand it off. Really? OK people I don't know much about this area of Dallas, but, really? I find it somewhat offensive that they think I'm such a criminal/freak. I'm sure there are some freaks lurking about, but, really? Taking measures like this can mislead people into believing your food is the shit, and, they may get shanked while ordering. Not the case here. The Chicken House delivers some sorry ass yard bird. I bought both white and dark meat. I always expect the breast to be dry, as few places know how to fry it juicy. Chicken House didn't disappoint on that expectation. Hell, they were spot on. Not only with the white, but, also with the dark! Drying out the dark meat along with the white tells me that they over fry and let it sit too long. I wouldn't be surprised if I found out they double fry to re-heat. Not only was the chicken too dry, it was bland as all get out! It did have a nice crisp to it, but, crisp without spice? Yuk! The meat tasted like they injected it with water. It had no flavor at all, except for a slight fishy taste. The catfish is pretty much the only way to go here. It has a nice corn meal coating, but, be careful of the frying time. One of my pieces was a bit on the raw side. They serve fries with their combos. The fries are a limp ass disappointment. Forget them, unless you like limp things in your mouth. Things are to go. They give you pickles and jalapenos in the same little baggy along with white bread. What they don't give you is plastic ware! Come on guys. Drop the paranoia and focus on the quality of your food, along with the satisfaction of your customer. Yay Chicken House! It's good. The crust is seasoned and has a good texture. The meat is juicy and tender. It's cheap, and the people who run it are really nice. I'm taking off a star for the limp, greasy fries and lack of consistency. Sometimes the level of seasoning varies trip to trip, and I have also experienced the bizarre fishbird taste other reviewers mentioned.
