Stir Fried Lobster with Ginger/Onion, Roast Duck over Rice
    Randy P.

One of the many delicious restaurants in London Chinatown. Ordered Lobster with onion and Ginger, Roast Duck over Rice. Lobster was fresh and seasoned just right. Duck has meaty and had a traditional soy/cinnamon flavoring in the sauce. Highly recommended if you're in the Westminster area. Thank you

Arrived at LHR, rested some and off to Chinatown for some Chinese bbq for lunch. Not used to the hustling of the vibrant City regardless of the time of year. Restaurant opened at Noon, immediately almost all tables were packed Ordered the combination meat of ... - Bbq roasted pork - crispiness softened by the French of sauce - Bbq pork - not as flavorful as thought, also drenched in overwhelming sauce - Duck, supposedly it's specialty, the meat tasted awful - Soy chicken - this was good, soft to the bite and tender - Wonton soup - surprisingly roughly made, nothing to admire All in all, disappointing! Will not return. Perhaps given the higher expectation due to lots of competition in Chinatown, it simply wasn't up to par

The duck here is fantastic. The char siu was too lean and not good, but the sauce they use is great. Small and cramped restaurant but waits aren't too long usually

At the end of our meal here... What I was tempted to say to the help: Ni you mao bing ma?! What I actually said: Wo men ke bu ke yi mai dan? ---- On the one hand, the food is generally quite respectable. At Uli's suggestion, we came for the duck, and plenty of fowl was had. The whole steamed fish will run you a pretty penny at twenty quid, but was quite fresh, thought not flavourful. The garlic sautéed greens (in our case, Chinese broccoli) were crunchy and tender, a rare and appreciated combination of textures. If you're into salt and pepper pork, their version's not bad. However, as forewarned, the service here was acceptable at best, condescending and irritable at worst. I'm reasonably certain if we were made to feel any more unwelcome, we'd have walked out. It was a razor thin edge. Every single request we made was met with an attitude of disgruntlement, as though it was an extreme burden to bring a clean replacement plate or a takeaway box for leftovers. That's fine. I'm happy to go spend that £60 somewhere else in future. ---- I'm trying to decide if the three-star review for Four Seasons was as a result of an experiential upgrade due to a rare opportunity to enjoy a rare meal with the ever-lovely Michele D. A teetering four-star sampling of food with solidly two-star service amounts to all-around mediocrity.

I went to this place after siting a fellow Food Spotter's picture on FoodSpotting. Then I cross checked with Yelp, and it was almost 5 stars so I decided to put it on one of to go list when in London. OH BOY am I glad I did go to this place! This little hole-in-the-wall is known for their roast duck and it is totally worth your trip! We ordred Roast Duck, Lobster (in spicy and sweet sauce) which's not on the menu, but you ask to be cooked this way they'll do it, Salt & Pepper short ribs, Salty fish & chicken fried rice, and Fried oyster. Every single dish was absolutely fantastic! I'm from San Francisco, and if you've heard of R&G Lounge in SF, you know how good they are. This place is just as good as R&G and even better at some level! 1. Roast Duck: They are famous for this and they sure do it well! Crispy skin with tender juicy meat and absolutely perfect seasoning!! YUM! 2. Sweet & Spicy Lobster: OMG! This lobster is OUT of THIS World delicious!!! When asked if the lobster was fresh, the chap taking our order very confidently said yes! So we asked to make it with some kind of spicy sauce (not on the menu) and they whipped up this lobster. It may not look pretty to you, but it's all pretty when you put it in your mouth! Flavor explosion! BAM! So good and the succulent lobster meat was just so sweet! 3. Salt & Pepper short ribs: Jiao Yen Pai Ku: Perfectly fried! Tender meat! Enuf said! 4. Salty fish & Chicken fried rice: So yummy with lots of salty fish in it, not like some places where they skimp on it. 5. Fried oyster: They really know how to fry stuff here and this dish was so good! Place is small, but there are downstairs seatings as well. People are friendly and if you speak Mandarin or Cantonese it's a plus cuz they'll take care of you really well.

One of the best authentic Chinese restaurants we have been to in a very long time. Came here with our family of four. We had good service, the food was fresh and full of flavor!!! A definite must!!!

"dis.service charge' = disservice charge? Arbitrary, so didn't pay it, but 15.60£ for 4 portions of plain rice(!) Awful place.

Ramshackle place inside. Food is stale, loveless, limp. Portions very small. Staff were clueless about food allergens. The surprise comes with the bill when they charge you 16£ for four plain rices AND try to sneak in an arbitrary service charge (see photo), AND probably hope for tips on top from stupid tourists like us. We should have run prior to ordering, if it hadn't been for two hungry kids...

Oh dear, it seems like Four Seasons has been reading the Starbucks fast franchising doctrine. Apparently, Starbucks have a way of calculating when one branch is too busy and you need to open another branch even if it is literally round the corner from the other branch. The original Four Seasons in Queensway is a legend, drawing large crowds for its roast duck. The next branch opened on the main drag of Chinatown on Gerrard Street with the word 'Queensway' in brackets on its shop sign to remind everyone of its more illustrious older sibling. However, not more than 47 steps (yes, I counted them!) from the Gerrard Street branch, you'll find yet another branch of Four Seasons. The roast duck is good but I find the accompanying soya suace a bit sweet. They do offer the duck off the bone, which is a service not found much in Chinatown. My current personal favourite for roast duck though is Tai Ka Lok on Gerrard Street.

Each time we come to London, we have a meal at the Four Seasons Chinese Restaurants. There are 3 restaurants, one in Bayswater, one on Waldorf St and the last at 12 Gerrard St, chinatown. We love the Roast Duck Rice meal for £6.80. Ask the restaurant to debone the Duck and give you extra sauce. The meat is tender and tasty. The restaurant serves other food as well, but this is our favourite dish. The other dishes we like are the stir fried prawn noodle, Kai Lan stir fried with garlic and the stir fried green pea shoots (seasonal).

It's definitely a young crowd/scene haha plenty of people on Friday evening and luckily were able to get seating upstairs Beautifully decorated but it'll be hard to hold a conversation since it's pretty noisy lol Pretty good variety of menu items, lots of Asian fusion dishes SO and I opt for their Crispy Aromatic Duck, Prawn and Chinese Chive Dumplings and Scallop Siu Mai Their Crispy Aromatic Duck was 5/5 -- crispy and not overly fried, great flavor too, SO and I really enjoyed it, funnily they bring it to you for display... then take it to the back to deconstruct, and then bring it back to you for grubbing afterwards haha Scallop Siu Mai and Prawn with Chinese Chive Dumplings were great too, a good filler for dinner, wishing it came with 4pc vs 3pc but I get it haha A pretty penny (or rather, pound heh) but it's London Worth a try if you like Crispy Duck!

Duck & Rice, Soho, London, England -- April 5…read more Our family of four with two kids ages 9 and 10 made our way to Duck & Rice after walking through the Chinatown area, which was absolutely packed and fun to explore, and we were looking for something lively with shareable dishes, and the overall experience felt energetic with some real highs and a few misses. Arrival and First Impressions The space has a strong personality with a mix of pub and restaurant energy and it felt busy from the moment we walked in, matching the chaos outside in Soho, but still relatively well controlled with a steady flow of service and a constant buzz that made it feel like a place always in motion. The Highlights Food came out quickly and leaned into that comfort style Chinese menu with a mix of dumplings and larger plates, and the soup dumplings were the clear favorite for the table with both kids fully on board which is always a win. The crispy duck with pancakes was also solid and more in line with what we expected, and overall the variety kept everyone engaged even if the kids stayed mostly in their comfort zone. The Challenges Portion sizes were a bit tricky for a family of four with several dishes coming in sets of three which meant ordering extra just to share evenly, and a few items missed the mark including shu mai that felt a bit dry. The duck and rice being served closer to room temperature was intentional to keep it tender but still felt a little off from expectation, and surprisingly there were no chili oil or similar condiments for the dumplings which would have helped quite a bit. The overall noise and energy level can also be a lot after a full day out. Final Thoughts This is a lively spot that fits right into the Soho and Chinatown energy and works well if you are looking for a fun fast paced meal with shareable dishes, but it is not without a few quirks and inconsistencies. We are glad we tried it and there are definitely things worth ordering, but with so many strong options nearby we would probably explore elsewhere next time, making it worth it for the experience but not a must return.

It's lively, welcoming, and genuinely fun for the entire family. Even the waiting area is unique and thoughtfully done, which says a lot about how much they care about the customer experience. The staff and waitresses were all lovely, attentive, and made sure everything ran smoothly. We ordered a huge spread--pretty much the entire menu and then some--and everything was delicious. If you're sensitive to spice, I'd recommend staying away from the Sichuan soup. On the other hand, the clam-based soup was one of our favorites--comforting, flavorful, and perfect for balancing out the meal. Amazing food, amazing service, and a great atmosphere. Haidilao is absolutely worth the visit while in London.

Sharing hot pots are divided into four quadrants - we got half and half mala spice and the mild but super savory mushroom broth. Very different but both excellent! Individual dishes are ordered via iPad. We got a large selection of meats, veggies, noodles, and some more unusual delicacies like beef cheek and colon(?). There are self serve stations for sauce making, and some small sides and desserts/fruits. I LOVED the seaweed salad there and got three helpings... not sure what goes into this but it was so yummy. Tissue boxes at the table are a nice touch for runny noses with the spicy broth! There's a bit of a show that comes with ordered hand pulled noodles! A staffer comes out and pulls and spins and dances with the noodles table side. I think they also sing for birthdays (seemed to be a couple of those around us). For tourists, this is located in a nice area for a bit of a site walking tour before or after dinner! (To either work up an appetite or walk off a bit meal.)
