First impressions might be that this is a paleo cafe, and I guess it does cater to that customer but they are actually also brilliant for anyone with dietary requirements/allergies, or anyone who just wants really tasty food. At the moment, I'm mostly sticking to dairy free/gluten free and found that the food here fits that perfectly - the staff really know their stuff in terms of ingredients and allergies and will happily talk you through what is suitable. There's also a couple of options each day which are suitable for vegans - the veggie Buddha bowl as well as dessert/sweet options. It's also a much bigger space than expected - there's a few seats in the front area but then a really large seating area out back. It's perfect for a casual lunch spot with couches, or working with a laptop as there's power points and wifi (with a password which I didn't ask for on this visit!). I sat out the back and the guys were nice enough to bring my food out to me which I appreciated. So, the veggie buddha bowl. The veggies will change depending on what they cook but today it was sumac aubergine which was all my dreams come true - I love aubergine so much. Served with steamed rice, spinach as well as chickpea stew and topped with crispy kale, it was absolutely delicious. You can tell that these guys know their food as it was packed with flavour and I totally loved it. For £5.50 I thought the portion size was just right and left feeling perfectly full. They do Dear Green coffee and Tea Pigs tea - super fruit is absolutely amazing! I also got a couple of slices of cake to take away as they have dairy free options - chocolate orange cheesecake sounded too good to resist! If you're in between 7.30-11am (or all day Sat) they do breakfast which sounds good and has something for most people - porridge, hash browns, breakfast burritos. Other lunch options include frittata, soup, grilled chicken, steak. The menu isn't massive but there's a lot of variety. I'll definitely be back!

This is a great new place, offering goodies that you don't often get elsewhere…read more The reason I visited, one cold and rainy Saturday morning, is that I had heard they do raw vegan cakes. And they do - several types! This is a rare treat - becoming more common across Glasgow these days, but still makes my heart do a little happy dance when I see it. I had a caramel slice, which was delicious, and a pot of lemon and ginger tea, which warmed me up nicely to face the rain again. In the chiller, I also noticed birch juice - amazing! This is the first place in Glasgow I've seen stock this, and I was so pleased to see it as it saves me drilling a hole in a birch tree during spring time, should I fancy some birch sap. I'll be back to get some of this, for sure. I'm not kidding, it's lovely stuff, and very good for you. It seems Primal Roast have made some enlightened choices. It's also a lovely environment to sit and have a break in. Despite it being a basement cafe, it's very bright and cheerful, with sunshiny yellow on the walls, light woods, and a big glass fronted counter. It's very relaxing and pleasant space. The coffee is Dear Green and it would be great if they also had a second brand to choose from - that really would make Primal Roast the perfect place for me.

I had the eggs Benedict, which was the perfect portion, cooked to perfection, and left me wanting more. The sauce was light and mixed with the egg in a way that was just indescribable. The French toast with bacon offered a great mix of sweet and savory. Syrup was available if you wanted it, but honestly, you didn't need it. My wife had the fluffy scrambled eggs, creamy, cheesy, served over toast with bacon and hash browns. This is something she gets often, and she has had none better than the ones here. The service was excellent. It's not the biggest restaurant, but the tables seem to move fairly quickly, and they have outdoor seating on warmer days. The whole experience was a delightful way to start our day. So if you happen to be in Glasgow, Scotland, you have to check out the Wilton Street Pantry, you will not be disappointed!

The reservation that we made was worthwhile as they were booked past 1 PM when we arrived at 11:30 AM. They offered a mix of indoor and outdoor seating. We were seated inside and attended to right away. Our server was excellent the entire time we were there. The menu was condensed with some tempting choices. My wife opted for the Avocado Toast, which was loaded generously. She enjoyed it quite a lot. I tried the marinated cherry tomatoes, prosciutto, mozzarella, rocket, pesto and smoked almonds on toasted sourdough. I was likewise happy with my selection. I can also report that the coffee was very good. My wife had a Macchiato and said it was quite nice as well. Including the food, drinks and a small tip, the total bill was £36. At £18 per person, this was not cheap but I had no problem with the value. The experience including the food, the service and the vibe all added up to make this worth the cost. If we're in Glasgow again, we'd be happy to do brunch here again.

I'd have to say that this cafe is pretty much my favorite one while I lived in Glasgow. I…read morefrequented it almost once a week. Now that I'm back in America, I miss this place a lot! Glaswegians, your cafes have definitely spoiled me and I can't find anything that compares to this in the U.S. When you walk in, you automatically get this cozy and warm feeling. Try to get a seat in the upstairs dining area, because this is where you will feel the most warmth. I also like sitting in the bar stools by the window because I like looking outside at the rain. If you find yourself waiting for a table, just take that time to browse the pastries, savory foods laid out, and even their selection of cookbooks. Their selection of cake and tarts change daily, but if they have leftovers one day then they serve the leftovers the next day until they are gone, but a lot of the time their pastries sell out on the first day. Bonus to this is that your pastries are definitely fresh! But the pastries still taste good even if they are a day old. Trust me. My go-to pastries were the Belgian Chocolate Cake or the vanilla custard tarts. This cake has hazelnuts inside of it and is served with raspberries, chocolate bits, dusted with sugar on top. If you love chocolate, this cake is the way to go. The vanilla custard tarts reminded me of home (because I would get Egg Tarts at Chinese bakeries and this vanilla custard tart tasted just like a egg tart) The only difference is that the tart at Kember & Jones had flaky layers of crust, which made the tart even better. My go-to drinks are hot chocolate or the Moroccan Fresh Mint Tea. The hot chocolate is served with foam and little chocolate bits on top. The Mint tea is served in a clear glass, but it comes hot (which was weird because I didn't think you would serve hot drinks in a glass) but I understood why because it has a bunch of mint leaves in it that changes the color of the drink to a light tan. It's cute and if you have a sore throat, it will make you feel better. Other things that I have tried and loved were the Warm Waffle (because it was served with syrup and fresh fruit), the French Lemonade (It was pink lemonade with a little bit of sourness), and the macarons (They make different ones each week. Try all of them because they go fast! I have to say during Christmas time their Christmas pudding one tastes pretty good, too.) Last thing to note is that the staff is very nice. I never really feel pushed to leave. They are polite and attentive.

The menu is simple mainly sandwiches, panini's and a few specials, most items do look home made, especially the tiramisu. There is only seating for ten customers but there are now a few tables outside, I bought a tuna mayo toasted sandwich & a coffee, total cost was £4.50, I think I will be coming here more often now, definitely on my list of cheap eats around glasgow.

Loved all the meats it came with and the eggs were perfect. The beans in tomatoes were a little bit of a shock since it had a heavy tomato sauce taste - nothing like what I've tried. The bread was thick and fresh. I loved the little potato cakes the most because they were soft inside and crispy on the outside. The other dish i tried was the baked egg - recommended by the waitress. It has a heavy tomato sauce base and also included some pork chopped brisket. Also, delightful. The layout seems very cramped in general, especially in the upstairs mezzanine bit, but luckily it was pretty quiet so we managed to find a table without problem. I wasn't overly impressed with the lunch menu as it didn't meet my dietary needs. It's okay for veggies but most things had cheese of some sort in them so if you have problems with dairy your options are pretty limited. Luckily the all-day breakfast/brunch options are quite extensive. After pondering over the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon option, I eventually plumped for the eggs royale - basically eggs Florentine with organic smoked salmon and a massive nest of what appeared to be spinach. Jolly tasty it was too, although I did think it was a trifle over-priced at £8.75. I finished with an Americano, and my sister tempted me into a slice of polenta cake, which was very nice. The coffee was okay, not particularly outstanding. I still don't 'get' the popularity of Cafezique; to me it comes across as over-priced, over-crowded and over-trendy. It will never be a regular haunt for me, but it's nice once in a while.
