I was traveling back to Detroit and I saw a friend in the airport so we ended up stopping at the fountain bar. You see bar is as soon as you come down the escalator so you really can't miss it. It's nice and clean just like every place else is pretty much in the airport. The lady that was bartending that morning, she was pretty cool, she talked for a little bit and then she left us alone to talk (sometimes bartenders hover and try to interject in your convo lol). I only got Mimosa so it's not like I can really critique on the drinks necessarily because of Mimosa is easy to do, but I have no complaints. read more

The bar has an attractive design and there was a singer-guitarist providing fun pop hits from the 1930-1950s. The waitress-bartender, Ms Warren, seemed very unhappy and was unfriendly. Our two drinks were among the worst mixed drinks we have paid for in a bar. Our neighbors were also disappointed with their drinks. If you stop at this bar, I recommend you order something foolproof like a beer or glass of wine. Or, move on to a different bar. read more

This is your basic bar in the Detroit airport. It's located in the A concourse by the tunnel to B concourse. 6 beers on tap, lots of adult beverages to choose from. It's a nice place to spend a little time waiting for your flight. Service was fast and friendly. Prices are like any airport, high. read more

Of course this is in the airport, no right off you know there are no happy hour deals and everything will be overpriced. That being said, its in a nice location and the atmosphere is one of the better places in DTW if you just want to kill some time and have drink (or two). Staff was attentive.... it would be a stretch to say they were friendly, but it was last call, so I'm sure they were ready to go home. Also great for people watching! read more

Maria was more than 5-Stars!!!! Our flight was delayed and even though she had already worked 10 hours on her feet, she blessed us enough to remain open during our 2-hr flight delay. She not once complained or griped about customers constantly walking up to her bar and ordering even though she was supposed to close at 9p. Maria is truly a once in a lifetime bartender who deserves absolutely nothing but the best!! She was the only one in the entire airport who stayed open for us!! The fountain bar is located in the main area of concourse A. It offers a beautiful view of the DTW fountain. I really liked that there's seating on the inner and outer perimeter of the bar, very open and inviting. There are outlets at every chair or table even the one by the window with an outlet in the floor. The menu offers cocktails special in Michigan with fun city names as well as tasty bites like a cheesy grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup. I especially loved the Valentine gimlet served with valentine vodka. The prices are reasonable and the location is great since it's so close to the other concourse connections. read more

The decoration is modern and very catchy, the bartenders are friendly and helpful, they have a very nice selection of drinks as well as some good food options of light food. My choice? The Caesar salad, the verdict? Fantastic!!! Perfect portion, fresh and crispy, the dressing has to be on the best ones that I have ever tried in my life. Great spot! Tasty beverages, Euro atmosphere, and regular American airport clientele. When I first saw the Fountain Bar, it reminded me of airport bars in Zürich --- curvy white design furniture, plenty of room at the bar, and good light. The accents of the bar staff and customers, though, brings you back to the States --- I had a brassy, frosted-tips bartender who was dealing with a Southerner who wanted more Jack, more Coke, or preferably more of both in front of him. The Pimm's Cup was delightful, with plenty of cucumber; the guy two seats down got what sounded like a ginger Old Fashioned. I might try some food next time, but this place is mainly about the beverages. If Vino Volo hits your tastes and price range, this might be another place for your list. Sunlight on white plastic, though, instead of pleather armchairs. read more

The Fountain Bar is a fantastic addition to the A Concourse of DTW. Nestled in the center of gates, the Fountain Bar is the perfect place to grab a beverage before or between flights and has fantastic people watching opportunities. The bar stools are very comfortable and there is plenty of space for luggage. Jerry was an amazing host and bartender. After welcoming me into the bar, he highlighted the electrical outlets (all over) and helped me with the Wi-Fi. Then he served me a (local) whiskey over a fun circle shaped ice cube. Located inside the airport just after you walk through security. I arrived at the airport super early so I walked in for a mimosa and to my surprise they also serve breakfast sandwiches. Service was phenomenal and the food was good. They serve 3 types of mimosas and about 3 varieties of sandwiches. Would definitely visit again when in the airport. read more

Not the happening place. The clientele was nice, but they ebb and flow -- not a steady, continuous flow of customers coming and going. People started leaving around 8pm on a Friday and by 8:30pm I was the only person left! The service was rather slow and mediocre. Waitresses tend to serve one customer at a time, walking past without checking if you need anything. No leg room at the counters so I found myself leaning in all the time, which wasn't comfortable. Electrical plugs with USB ports for charging are at a premium; poor planning for such a new establishment. They ran out of KettleOne vodka. What bar runs out of liquor? Well last week I was loving this place. My I ordered the Fountain Salad with Salmon. I watched as he put the fresh salmon on amd grilled it and it was near perfect, tender/moist, not over cooked. Today, I go back for the same exact salad and after spending $17.00 for a dried out, rock hard piece of salmon that tasted like it was from the 2 days ago that they just reheated on the grill. I WON'T BE BACK!. The main chef was there texting on his phone or something. Another guy was cooking. I ended up with a salad that had Quinoa in it, walnuts and pistachios instead of almonds. NONE of which is in this salad. Now, there are some people who have ALLERGIES...who order off a menu assuming that it will be made as detailed in the MENU!. And yet, here I got this sloppy salad that they started making wrong but didn't give a sh@t to remake it and do it right. By the time I walked back to my office and sat down to look at the food thats when I noticed it was wrong and the salmon was like a hockey puck. It was not palatable. I ate around some of it but ultimately threw it away. Extremely disappointing. I work down here and this restaurant paints itself to be "higher quality". Definitely not the case today. Take your chances I guess, if they are feeling in the mood to perform maybe you will luck out. Othwerwise, its not worth the almost $20 for a crappy lunch when there are better plces with more consistency read more
