I really don't do this as I would hate to give anyone a bad review especially in hard times like these but this needs to be done. I keep giving Foundry chances since it is the only place like it in Port Jervis and because of its proximity to the train. This is maybe my 7th time going and yet another disappointment. This time, I literally can't drink my coffee. Today I ordered a latte and rather than Espresso, I was given Iced Coffee doused with oat milk. It's horrible and I'm really not picky with coffee but I paid for something that I can't even drink. Mornings, when customers are in a rush, the "baristas" who work at the counter love to have 20 minute conversations with customers and I've constantly been late because of this. I get it, and I know that everyone knows each other here but if that's what you want to do, stick to being an overpriced gift shop. This is not a good place to do any work as it's run by the mommy mafia who let their children wreak havoc within the store. It's a cafe, not a social club and definitely not a McDonald's play place. Hopefully Foundry can change things, improve their service because it's seriously awful and not charge the astronomical prices that they do for not even mediocre coffee. Customers shouldn't foot the bill for them to hold leather bags in their inventory. read more

Constantly updating, so VISIT OFTEN. Foundry42? what the heck is that? Great question, is it a home decor store, a homeopathic supply? a skin care Stop? Sure! And so much more....cooking lessons? special girls night out destination, wine tasting, drama and acting lesson? Why not? Me? I go for the coffee? Yes, coffee! at their little cafe stop in the front of the store....Great Espresso/ Capuccino! and nice comfy place to relax and unwind for a few minutes. Don't even get me started on the cookies and pastry available! The ownership and staff are friendly, knowledgeable and best of all, Local; knowing the ins and outs of what's happening in the area. Trying to appeal to young, cultured folks with a grotto of overpriced [albeit beautiful and well curated] wares while literally nestled in a hotbed of antique shops feels like garden variety gentrification to me, but I digress. Let's talk about the coffee. Watery. I could tell they're using good product. It's just... very... very... little of it. Also, nothing about these hours says "we care about the community." Working class people often want coffee before the workday. A 9am start time is laughable for a cafe. This says, "we don't care about people in construction, manufacturing, or delivery. we only care about the class of people who can hang out here with their Macbooks in the middle of the day because they live a life without urgency." If 9-5 was what the proprietor could afford staffing-wise, then they needed to open a sandwich shop for the lunch crowd and not a coffee bar. Don't present a solution to a need you don't wholeheartedly fulfill. A lot of potential here; exquisitely curated housewares and fun to browse. I absolutely love it here. The coffee is good, the Keish is outstanding, and the staff are very kind. The atmosphere is very relaxing for sipping coffee and reading a book, or even holding a meeting, which I have seen several of in the few times I have been here. I just got a coffee from here - I watched the young man who made my drink, and he took out the trash and put a new trash bag in and then made my drink without washing his hands!!! Right in front of me, he handled the garbage and the garbage can and then put his bare unwashed hands all over my coffee and coffee lid. Very gross, please train your staff to wash their hands. read more

Great little gem in Port Jervis. We stop in here for coffee and/or a quick bite. But it's the decor and feeling of the place that have us coming back. It's cozy and everyone working there is very kind. It's hard right now to stay staffed anywhere so we try to be patient everywhere. We also bought some of the art from upstairs, which is local and truly spectacular. We get sooo many compliments on it. This is for sure one of our favorite places in the Port Jervis area. I love bringing my 9 year old daughter here...the staff is always cheerful and she loves exploring the many different parts of this unique and delicious cafe/boutique. She gets a desert.... I get a cappuccino....we look around .... and we both leave happy everytime. read more

I love every single thing about this coffee shop. I live a little over an hour north and I attend meditation classes about 10 minutes away from here. I heard they do meditations as some of their activities here, but didn't get the chance to go to one yet. I decided to check it out when I was in town. The farmhouse decor was breathtaking and I loved that they had a book selection on cooking and home decorating...and new trending books too! The food choices were creative and delicious and it was a nice quiet place to enjoy your tea while looking into one of the main streets in the town of Port Jervis. I would drive an hour just to spend the day here, relax, read and buy books here. It is my new favorite coffee shop...and trust me, I attend many of them! read more

If this review were for the store and bakery only I would give 5 stars. I rated only 3 because the 'cafe' portion (referring to the coffee) drags everything down. The coffee isn't good here... it's thin wasn't at the right temperature. Atmosphere is great and it's the kind of place you would really like to have a sit with a great cup of coffee and stay longer than you intended. I cannot say enough good things about Foundry 42. It is truly a magical place for people of all ages. From amazing children's cooking classes/camps to concerts, dance parties and a knitting club(stitch and bitch, I love it!) The retail selections are great and it is filled with a lot of local artist items. Such a great experience every time. Oh, and the coffee and pastries are to die for! read more

For $2.50, you expect a great cup of coffee... wasn't so great. Strong and funny tasting. Very limited amount of pastries to choose from. Much better though with their new merch. VERY expensive, but some cool and unique "gift" ideas. read more
