I was so excited to try this place and make it my go to stop on my way to work. I'm a true coffee snob and I was excited to see this second location in sugar loaf. The place was so unwelcoming, I was greeted with a flat hello brunch finished at 2 pm, glare. Back to my phone, my life. I ordered an iced latte with oat milk and it was just ehh, nothing but ok. The person that came in after me, tried some friendly chat and was met with cold replies colder than the ice in my latte. I mean I'm not saying that the cafe has to be the friendliest place on earth. I am just pointing out good customer service. I won't return because the coffee was not made well and well the experience was poor. read more

In Sugarloaf across from the Post Office there's a railroad car and Valkyrie which serves very nice coffees (and food on Thursday Friday Saturday and Sunday). There's outside seating in the shade. Inside, it's a very cosy size. I had a monkey banana iced coffee and a high protein brownie. It was unusually good. There were some nice Filipino type brunch items. Artisan style. read more

Amazing experience at Valkyrie! We come here often, J personally am in love with their hot chocolate, and the general food & service is always excellent! As for the ambience & interior/exterior, the cafe is always kept clean & organized, sometimes it gets a little busy, therefore there's a limit on seat choices, yet generally it's a spacious & comfortable cafe for a nice cup of coffee. Overall, we look forward to trying out their new location as well! read more

Valkyrie has been one of my favorite coffee shops to visit in the Hudson Valley for he past few years. I don't nearby, but whenever I'm in the area I always make sure to stop for a beverage or two. The staff is always friendly, the drinks are always delicious, and I love the creativity that they apply to their seasonal specials. I wish I lived closer, because I would be here all the time! It's so cozy and inviting, and is the perfect place to slow down, enjoy your coffee, and read a good book. Definitely a must stop if you're in the area! read more

But Brunch House is truly its own special and unique environment. Just like the original, there is a wide variety of bespoke coffee drinks that are rooted in owner, Dakota's, heritage. As well as some that are just plain awesome creations of his and his staff's. But Brunch House also features a fantastic brunch menu. Delicious drinks and just the most personable staff! I don't live nearby, so I really look forward to my Valkyrie visits. I love a coffee shop that treats you like a regular even if I can only be a couple times a month patron. Tip 1: Buy some beans while you're there! They are so thoughtfully roasted. The ambience is super cute and the staff is SOOO nice. I got the waffles and they were very dry, had no flavor, and needed a good topping to add the moisture. I also ordered two coffees which were not good. The Nutella latte had no Nutella and the grahams cracker sank to the bottom. The other was a hot biscoff dulce de leche latte. This one tasted like tea not coffee, was super watery, and once again had no flavor. I don't know if it was the staff that day but I am not going back read more

Not only is everything on the menu always perfectly handcrafted and well thought out, the friendly and amazing staff behind the counter make the experience feel like a gift. What an incredible addition to Sugar Loaf! The coffee at Valkyrie is expertly roasted and always delicious. The specialty beverages are wildly inventive and everything that goes into them is handmade in house with love - there's no mass produced chemical syrups here. They even make their own oat milk! I love the changing seasonal drink menu, but even just straight up coffee, cappuccino, and lattes are equally delicious. Prices are absolutely in line with what you'd pay at the big chains, but just so much better - freshly roasted and crafted individually for you. Service is genuinely friendly and the shop, tho small, is so charming in a converted railway station with additional patio seating in the warmer seasons. They have another location in downtown Chester too that is just as charming, but this isn't a chain - it's owned and operated by a young local family that are passionate about coffee and community. So If you're looking for a great cup of coffee in the area, Valkyrie is the place to go. read more

Let me start off by saying my husband and I have been long time Valkyrie patrons of the other location since they first opened. So rightfully so, we had to try this new Sugar Loaf location. Of course I had my favorite Matcha with oatmilk, but i have to say it didn't taste at all as when Dakota (the owner) makes it for me at the chester location and it i ordered it hot and it was barely warm. My hubbs had bourbon barrel Kenyan coffee which he loved. I ordered the Poach Pear French toast and hubby had the Keuka PB&J Mochi Waffle. So here Is my VERY HONEST review; I absolutely loved my French toast, but my only complaint is that we ate at the café but we're served in a to go eco container and it would've been nice to have been served in a small plate even if it's a disposable one. My husband liked his waffle very much. The place is small so it's not good for big groups, but there is additional seating outside. So overall I have to say I l enjoyed it very much. Good luck on this one and I hope you guys are around for a long time! Sugar Loaf was in need of a great coffee place. read more
