My girlfriend and I stopped in on a Saturday morning in January while on a weekend trip to High Point State Park in NJ. I didn't explore a lot of Port Jervis, but Foundry 42 is a gem. They have an amazing selection of pastries, the rosemary croissant is seriously incredible and a must-try. I visited on the morning of Black Friday and even got to spin a prize wheel, which was such a fun surprise! The staff is wonderful. They're friendly, informed about all the events and activities the shop offers, and incredibly understanding. We accidentally spilled a coffee, and they replaced it right away without hesitation. The space is cozy, inviting, and filled with great products that make you want to browse and stay a while, they are in the heart of the small town which is wonderful. Great spot! We stopped in on a whim while on a road trip and were so glad to have stumbled upon this gem. Inside is a cute store filled with fun decor items to browse and a coffee shop with delicious drinks. From the second I walked in, I knew I was going to love it here. I came here for lunch on a weekday and luckily got a parking spot right out front!! Once you walk in, you're immediately greeted by friendly and helpful staff, and even though I already knew what I wanted to order, they didn't hesitate to answer any questions that other customers had. I ordered the Chicken Salad (on sourdough), with a side salad, as well as the Famous Chip Chip Cookie. After I received my food, I found a spot at little table in the back where I read my book for a little bit. Around me was little displays of art, books, games, candles, antiques, etc, it was so lovely to sit and admire (even if I had nothing to read!)! The sandwich was incredibly fresh and flavorful and the sourdough had the perfect amount of crunch. Side salad was lovely and a perfect compliment. The cookie though -- the COOKIE was out of this d*mn world. Legit going to be dreaming about that cookie from now until forever. Once I was done with my meal, I wandered around a bit and took a peek upstairs -- just as cozy as downstairs, but a bit quieter (if you're looking for something like that), and many more tables, couches, chairs, etc, to make yourself at home. I thought this was just a cafe, but walking by I noticed there was a whole shop inside. They sell a variety of unique products (many local) including Beekman beauty products, honey and syrup, coffee beans, Beecher's cheese, cards, kids toys, home goods, etc. I bought a mother's day gift, a rosemary croissant and chocolate chip-potato chip cookie at the front. We went to Foundry 42 many times over the summer as we visited our son at Forestburg Playhouse. Everyone is super friendly, the coffee is amazing, great drink ideas and will just about do whatever they can when you ask for a coffee drink! The store is so super cute, i never left without buying something totally not related to a coffee! haha! we even tried the quiche and the avocado toast, both were great - the toast was AMAZING i have to say! Again what a great place in such a small town! Friendly, cute vibe, outdoor seating and coffee to make the day even better! My son who was at the playhouse all summer came ALOT because he loves his caffeine boost! Adorable cafe combined with little shop. It's fun to look around at the quirky home decor but not sure I'd really ever buy something from the gift shop option. Love how they had local artists on display and local businesses. I ordered a vanilla oat-milk iced latte and it was definitely a strong coffee flavor and freshly brewed. Towards the end and on the bottom of the cup I noticed a lot of grounds and some coagulated pieces that came through the straw? Today was my first time at Foundry 42 and certainly not my last. Everything, from my London Fog beverage to my quiche and salad to the cranberry/orange muffin was simply delicious. The staff couldn't be more welcoming, even offering us a free ice cream sample. You'll definitely want to leave some time to peruse the beautiful shop both the main floor and upstairs. They have such a beautiful variety of home goods, furniture, books, bath and body products, handbags, jewelry and so much more . My mother in law bought me a beautiful Katie Loxton scarf here today, and I just can't wait for the fall to wear it. I liked this place. One of the owners is gluten intolerant & he makes items to fit that lifestyle which we appreciate since I have family members that suffer from gluten allergies. This place has the BEST baked goods I've ever tasted. Highly recommend coming on a Saturday to try the Unicorn muffin. It's such a fun sweet treat & so tender! Anyone who has anything to say bad about this place is way off base. Let me start by saying wow! This amazing shop was everything someone wants in a quaint hip and locally operated coffee shop. First, they opened before the time on the door because they saw a line. Talk about good service! Second, the lady running it was very friendly not only sharing a bit about the business journey but taking the time to explain some of the locally sourced items in the shop. She also was great at banter and was clearly a people person - another major plus when juxtaposed to many experience I've had in the City. The coffee shop doubles as a gift shop with all sorts of interesting fare. Ranging from goat milk lip balm to furniture, cookbooks, coffee, and mushroom growing kits there truly is something for everyone. I am not one for nicknacks but I truly felt like the products on display were higher quality, dare I say artisanal? Our coffees were tasty & the pastries on offer were equally as delicious. My gf and I were on our way home from camping and decided to stop by for some coffee. We stumbled upon this cute store that has a bunch of curated products ranging from unique scented candles, kitchenware and even sea grass bags which we ended up buying. What was supposed to be a 5 min pit stop ended up being a 1 hour excursion checking almost every product in great length and enjoying every moment of it. It's a great place to find little knick knacks or gifts for loved ones. We also tried their chip chip cookie which was to amazing because it has a good chewy consistency and the saltiness from the chip was a good compliment to the sweetness. We got 2 hazelnut lattes; one with 2% and the other with oat milk. Highly recommend the oat milk version. Their coffee was not as strong as other places, but it's still very good. I bought a purse there a few weeks ago for only $36 and seriously everywhere I go, people ask me about it. Also the classes are amazing and so much fun! My kids and I have been to several. We love coming here so much! The cafe is lovely. My son is gluten and dairy free. We love the gf peanut butter cookies and don't get me started on the gf orange cake. Also you have to try the Dirty Jerv and the lavender lemonade. So happy this chic store is in this area. I'm fine with a little niche shop that caters to specific tastes. it's definitely not for a general crowd. they seem to short handed today or maybe they're always operating at this level. The lady taking orders behind the register today was quite chaotic. the line forming seemed to be a bit of a mess and the woman working the register was definitely losing track of orders and the order in which they were plot be made. causing us to be passed over twice after paying for our order. the young lady actually making the drinks was doing well but it seemed she had dealt with the mishaps her coworker was making all day. I really implore this (and every business) to sharpen their service skills and provide good service all around. with the past 18 months being a big inconvenience.. we're paying price hikes for everything we do but are being met with subpar service and quality of products and food. read more

Unfortunately, the fundamental part of a coffee shop - the coffee - was absolutely terrible. My wife placed the order - she ordered me a latte, and the baristas asked if she wanted 2% or almond milk. This should have been enough of a red flag for her to cancel our order - whole milk should be the standard, let alone an option. The latte cost $4 plus tip and was awful - it tasted simultaneously watery and of stale beans with an aftertaste that was just... off. The reason I give this review two stars rather than one is that the overall design is great, the shared-space as a shop was cool, the staff was friendly enough, and the pastries looked good. It seems that most of the other bad reviews revolve around the coffee, so my suggestion for Foundry42 is to put some effort to get your coffee right - this includes getting fresh roasted beans by partnering with a roaster or roasting yourself, getting proper milk options and using whole milk as your standard, and training all of your baristas to properly pull a shot/steam milk. If you do this, it could easily raise your reviews to 4-5 stars across the board! read more
