This review is Long overdue bc of covid but better late than never!!! I am hoping for the day we reopen and I can visit here again!! Members only and I was fortunate enough to enjoy on multiple occasions to dine in and have drinks before our concerts! I love this speak easy feel in the House of Blues. Our group was treated like royalty and even got a tour of the different rooms and establishment! Dinner was just okay in terms of flavor and presentation but the service and attentiveness we received from our server was 100/100!! After dinner, we were led to a private entry to the box seats for the entertainment of the evening. It was amazing to have access to our personal server who kept the drinks coming!! Live entertainment with amazing company, and great drinks! I miss this so much. read more

Above the infamous House of Blues you will find a highly unexpected sultry scene heavily adorned with Buddas and ornately carved decor, intimate lounge areas with imported textiles, and its limited to private parties for members (+ guests) only so it wont ever be overpacked late night like most night spots across the City. The bartenders were very attentive to the needs of my group and we never saw the bottom of any glass or bottle all night! That's pretty impressive (but costly lol) IMO. Better yet, the DJ was super cool about taking song requests from my friends who are visiting Chicago from Brazil and was feeding our energy with other Samba mixed with deep House beats! I heard they offer late night bites but we didn't view that menu to order anything so I cannot comment. Only downside is the security staff took their job so seriously the minute it was 1:50am they were rushing us out the door. That's a-ok I'll be back for more:) read more

Food & server were good but if I make a reservation I shouldn't need to wait an hour for my table.

Having come to the House of Blues over the years, I never knew much about "The Foundation Room" My music loving friend got a membership. And now, it's the only way I will go to a show! The drinks and food might be a little pricey, but if you want to party like a rock star its the way to go. The Aaron Sanchez designed Steak tacos, are small, but mind blowing great. Just wish they had Sam Adams. If you ever get a chance to see a show, and know someone who can take you via the foundation room, its nearly a once in a lifetime way of having a blast! read more

Just got back home from driving another 3 hours. Since it is new years I had dinner with my family and then left at midnight. I didn't get to the Foundation Room until 3am. I had purchased a ticket a couple days prior.   The guy at the door wouldn't let me in because he said the show was full even though I saw people exiting right next door.  He wouldn't let me in even though I had purched a ticket. They oversold tickets to their new year's eve event and wouldn't honor tickets. Essentially I drove 6 hours there and back for no reason on New Years, and payed for parking for 15 minutes and payed for gas for no reason. I just spent 100 dollars for absolutely nothing.  What a horrible way to spend my new years. Then after contacting the owner I still havn't recieved a refund for my ticket. This is terrible buisness practice. I do not support a place that practices corrupt buisness practices. read more

I've been to the foundation room several times and it's a funny story how we ended up here tonight...but that's neither here nor there. The Foundation room is actually members only, but you can easily get in for events. I'll have to admit the dimly lit fourth floor is nothing like I've ever seen before. Nice comfy couches, private rooms with Buddha statues, and an awesome bartender that help us with our selfies and really took care of me in my girl tonight. :) We had the pineapple upside down and keylime martini. Both as delicious as the dessert. Not exactly what we were planning on doing tonight and not the typical crowd we like, but still good times were had :) read more

I came out here from anaheim and Colin went above and beyond at the Chicago location. Made reservations and it felt like they pulled out the red carpet for me. The place is clean and the mood is perfect. I got to watch the live show at the main music hall as well. All the bartenders were on it and provided great service. It's an older crowed and more of a lounge which I love ... come visit and check it out if you are in Chicago. I'll def be back to visit. read more

What an enjoyable experience! I was visiting the area for a girls trip and was excepted to see that the Foundation Room would be hosting Haus of Drag and House of Burlesque. We had dinner which was delish, especially the truffle fries, bao buns and fried cauliflower. We are new members at the Foundation Room. We went for the first time last week...all I can say is WOW. The food is fantastic, Chef Jack is a gem. We had a small private room to relax and chill while listening to the show. Our server, Britt, was super helpful. The staff and service is amazing. This place is overrated. I found them on restaurant.com (sooo how is it SUCH an exclusive place?) and needed to call about 8 different times to make a reservation, since there are multiple numbers for this place posted, and not enough people answering the phone. The host was not very warm since it was noted that we were not members (again, get over yourselves!) and were shown to what felt like a darkened dining room from a wealthy family 50 years ago. The average age of couples there was about 50 years old. Main course prices ranged from $38-$45, which included shared sides, served family style. So for $38, I got a piece of whitefish and had to split 4 pieces of asparagus, lumpy mashed potatoes and a ramekin of mushrooms with my bf. Seriously, with these prices, I expected my own sides! Also, the tables were an awkward width, so I felt like I was really far from my date... but I didn't want to speak up because then the quiet vibe there would have been disrupted. Not cool for a Friday night! This place is unnecessarily pretentious... it's just a restaurant for people who want to be able to say they belong to a quiet supper club while paying high prices for average food. I thought it would be much cooler and a better experience since it is at the HoB, but I was definitely disappointed. So two meals, one bottle of wine ($38, the second cheapest on the white wine list!) and minus $50 for the restaurant.com, we still had a bill of $100 incl. tax and tip. I can think of MANY other places I would rather have a nice date than here. read more

It's a cool idea, you get the 21+ tickets you get entrance into the bar. Except the person you came to see, is outside on stage. At any point you can go on the balcony and watch but it just doesn't seem as fun.. I had no idea this existed and I've been to plenty of shows here. Anyways, the drinks normal River North prices, but not too bad. I'd check it out , also it was $10 more for a 21+ area, which you will want. Trust me. read more

After a super positive experience on our first visit we are tremendously disappointed with the careless and unsatisfactory service we received upon our return. We adore Russel at the concierge and Jay who provided outstanding service in the dining room. Jay makes you feel like an old family friend. However, upon a second visit, we had the Buddha room reserved and received beyond below par service. We have all worked in the hospitality industry and are understanding that venues can be busy. Servers may be new. But after waiting over and hour and a half for food and beverage service and an entree was served cold, we were no longer impressed by the Foundation room. We moved on to view a concert and offered to close out our tab before. But the server assured us we could leave the tab open and close out after. Nonetheless we're happy to move on to the concert venue. When we returned to settle up, our server brought up our bill, then handed the cards back to us to accommodate another guest. We found this strange, but it was busy and we had only spent hundreds of dollars. Second go around she brings up our bill and then hands the cards back again because she needed to go serve drinks at a table. Twenty minutes later I'm just finishing this review, and they still haven't found a manager for us to speak with or closed us out. We easily could have walked out without paying and no one would have been the wiser, but we are not those people. The food is fairly nice- my boyfriend loved the deconstructed fried chicken baos while I was ecstatic that the crab cakes had more crab and less cake (read: flour)! But the service is a winner. I booked on OpenTable and reported a shrimp allergy, and all the five people we interacted with that night knew lol. Granted, it was only 7.30pm on a Sat night, and they were rather empty at that point, but the folks were so congenial and easygoing that you'd want to go back. I'd say the decor is an acquired taste though- densely packed with Persian carpets, oil paintings, painted glass windows, plush sofas and chairs, and (I think) hardwood tables. If you want the music, stay upstairs or just go to the House of Blues- we made the mistake of assuming it was in the same space. read more

If you aren't a fan of the HOB than the HOB 's Foundation Room probably won't be your cup of tea. The Foundation Room requires a membership (or rental via a special event) and can be filled with the company that you'd expect to keep with a private club (read: can be slightly stuffy). That being said, I've mostly only had good experiences. The décor is Asian inspired - if you've ever wanted to look at a Buddha while drinking a scotch you could do far worse than the Foundation room. read more

VERY overrated is all I can say. We were 1 of 3 tables being served that evening while the staff looked at the sea of empty tables. The staff was great and the food was fine. But that's just it, it was fine... and way over priced. After feeling ripped off for a $10 side of mashed potatoes, we didn't even stay at the bar. To be fair, the bar had a few more people in it. The type of people who were ordering bottle service at 9pm with less than 20 people in the room... So yeah, out the door we were. This place was a huge let down after being at the Foundation Room in Vegas. Maybe I'll try here again, but just for drinks next time. read more

A friend of mine has a membership here, and I guess the Foundation Room and the bar are pretty exclusive spots. Great to come here before a show, I enjoy the bar area much more than the restaurant. Beautiful decor, very romantic, and cool bartender. I am not a big fan of the restaurant. It is a beautiful space, but it sounds like the music is coming from a clock radio, which is very distracting. And the service here is hit or miss. The food is delicious, especially desert. I recommend eating at the bar. read more

I had a great time here a few weeks ago. I was there for a private event and had a blast. The best time I have had in a while. I was there with a group of friends and we shared a couple of appetizers during happy hour. One item on the menu was chicken baos and they were amazing. Bartenders were boss! Having come to the House of Blues maybe once or twice, I had never ventured into the Foundation Room until last Friday when I was here for a private party. It is my understanding this is a members' only spot so I was eager to scope it out. Once I checked in for the event and snagged my name tag, I made my way up to the fourth floor on the elevator. I will point out that the fourth floor is DARK and I am glad that I had a clear head, otherwise I could have seen myself bumping into things all night long. I will point out that the bartenders and servers were on top of their game, as there were even a couple of servers circulating just to check on drinks. While the ambiance on the fourth floor is like more of a hookah-lounge, the third floor reminded me of the drawing room in Jane Eyre, right down to the long draperies. At one point, one of the guests crashed into the drapery, leading to a cacophony of dishware. I entertained myself people watching and am glad to have had this glimpse into the inner circle of the Foundation Room, but probably won't return here unless invited for another event. read more

I've been to three shows in the past few months here- Burlesque which happens often and is so much fun! Foo-LaLa which is a female Foo Fighters cover band must see, and their New Years Eve Bash! Such a cool atmosphere with a laid back swanky feel, great drinks, and such an awesome staff! Each time the bartenders and wait staff have been prompt and cordial, and there's always a manager present walking around talking to guests. It's really worth your time to check this place out, and it's not super pricy which is an added bonus. read more

For it being as exclusive as it supposedly its quite a let down once you spend time there. This isn't my type of scene. After joining some business friends here for the night I was ready to go elsewhere after an hour. If you enjoy a creepy thai themed environment full of overpriced drinks and rampant drug use, this is your place. The only enjoyment I got here was watching an overweight guy in a kilt dancing to techno like he was having a seizure. I know ecstasy can be fun but I think you don't need to take a hand full of them all at once.. read more

The Foundation Room is a great spot to listen to some music, grab a pre- or post-dinner drink or generally hang out & talk. The food and drinks are fairly pricey compared to other options in the area but the nice lounge feel encourages you to stay for at least one drink. When there is an artist performing, it is a very intimate setting yet isn't so loud that you can't talk. I haven't tried the food yet but their drinks were pretty good - not amazing, but not bad at all. In general, you're paying for the ambiance here but you can certainly do far worse in that department. read more
