You can never go wrong with twisters. Just keep in mind that the sizes are huge. I love the mud pie (no caffeine). This place has been here forever. We try to visit if we are in the local area. You can either order at the window or on the kiosk. The employees are pretty friendly and offer to help with kiosk if needed.

Came to Fosters Freeze specifically for the banana split and it lived up to all expectations. We customized it with chocolate vanilla swirl soft serve, cherry sauce, hot fudge, nuts, and whipped cream. Loved that there was such a wide selection of toppings!

Came to Foster's Freeze for the first time for a late night sweet treat and the banana split was calling out to me. Oh my god, it was so good I can't remember the last time I had a banana split and now I might need to come back weekly. You can customize your toppings so we chose hot fudge, strawberries, and cherries with chocolate and vanilla ice cream and it was perfect. It's huge so unless you're hungry, I'd advise sharing it. Sat down at one of their outdoor picnic tables to enjoy it and it was the perfect addition to a summer night.

Was in the strip mall for an errand and saw this old school blast from the past and knew I had to stop by. I had a burger and fries and also a hotdog and onion ring combo. I also got a root beer freeze that I remember my high school days. Thanks for the memories.

STICK TO THE COLD TREATS (3.25 stars) Rolled up and this place immediately made me think of a burger place in the 70s (I wasn't even born) or 80s; outdated with an oldskool charm. Came by craving ice cream and was sold to buy more after seeing a plentiful menu. Hungry but not, ordered a kids meal. It was honestly hard to choose what cold treat to get because I wanted to try many of them. KIDS MEAL ($8.99) - couple of choices and went for a hamburger. It came with fries, drink, and a small sundae. Seriously, nothing special. For the price, I should have saved and just buy the ice cream. But I liked how I got a small bit of everything. The burger was basic and very kid friendly and I liked it. The fries reminded me of elementary cafeteria fries. And what I looked forward the most was my small sundae in a cone. Got it vanilla because I felt basic that day. While eating my small kids meal, there was advertisement on the windows of food specials and for the same price of $6.99 you can get a full size meal. So if you are looking for a bang for your buck, keep the window advertisements in mind. Until the next review...

I've been here a couple of times and always enjoy their ice cream, especially the dipped cones. Staff is helpful, and it doesn't take too long for your order to come out. I did notice they added tablets now for ordering which makes things a bit easier to customize, although my order did come out incorrect. Hope to try their food someday, but for now, their soft serve, sundaes and milkshakes are very good. I haven't gone inside but it looks like it's well kept and there's lots of tables. Outside seating is where I've been at, which is helpful.

Stopped by tonite with my younger brother & this is hands down one of the better ice cream shops in San Diego , very excited to try out the food next . Brother gives the Oreo mint twister a 10/10 & agrees that it's one of the best in San Diego

I have not been here in at least 20 years! Surprised it was still here. They have plenty of parking, indoor and outdoor seating area and one shared bathroom. If it is cool outside, you could order outside at the window and grab a seat to the left in their umbrella covered side patio. If it is hot, you could go inside and order at the counter and enjoy the AC and fan ran indoor seating. Their fountain drink dispenser is also located in the inside. But of course you could order outside and go in and get your order as well. It is all connected. We used to come here for their floats or banana split. They do not hold back on the toppings! Be prepared for overflowing toppings whatever you order.

Lovable dipped cone alongside a depressing excuse for a burger
    Keith S.

The desserts are a classic delight, the setting is casual and family friendly, while the hot food is a joke. See the burnt bun in my picture and keep in mind that the patty lying beneath tastes like it was purchased from Walmart's frozen food isle then reheated in the back microwave, and (this one really hurts) you can get a delicious In-N-Out burger down the street for less money. It's a nice place to take kids for the Worms N Dirt Twister or enjoy a dipped cone on the outside picnic benches while basking in the San Diego warmth, but if you're hungry enough for a meal, lower your expectations below any burger place that is still in business.

Can only speak to the soft serve but it was delicious!! Sooo creamy. I got a junior size cone and it was perfect for just wanting a small snack. They have the choice of vanilla, chocolate and swirl. You order at the counter and can take a seat indoors and outdoors. Plenty of parking in the strip mall as well. On Thursdays they do half off small cones.

Good old school vibes. Sourdough patty melt, chili fries and a soda was $18. Well try the ice cream option next time.

Yes. Four combo meals (~$9.99 each) can fit the modest budget, if you're craving the Double Classic on down with some change left over for shareable sides. Or, you can go the dessert-only route and get four large twisters for $8.99 each for that… Read more

For example, some other specialty bakeries/shops are charging similar prices for cakes and cheesecakes that are much simpler. In comparison, Extraordinary Dessert cakes take 3-4 days to make, have 6-8 alternating layers, and are typically adorned with edible gold and/or flowers. The key is to find which items you like and which are okay to pass on next time. What we ried this time: -Match Misu Cake (7/10): ricotta cake layers soaked in matcha and layered with marscapone whipped cream. This one was pretty good and ranks in my middle to high range. I only wish there was more matcha flavor (maybe if you dine in and get the sauce, this would help) or the matcha was paired with another flavor ... either go fruity (maybe a raspberry sauce, strawberry pieces, white peach pieces, or like a peach oolong cream layer) or go chocolately/coffee (maybe had some crushed up chocolate covered espresso beans). My go to's: -Ivoire Royale (10/10) - my ultimate favorite still. If you like light desserts, white chocolate, berries, and moist vanilla cake, thus one is for you. Classy and unpretentious -Shangrila (10/10) - my other favorite and will make you feel like a princess with all the pink chocolate curls. A little bit adventurous and innocently elegant. Ones to skip: -Au Chocolate / La Bete Noire / Dame Chocolate - get the Viking instead. That's my favorite of all their chocolate cakes -Lemon ricotta - get the Passionfruit Ricotta instead -Torta misu - the matcha misu is better. The tortilla misuse made me want a regular piece of tirmaisu than a cake version -Coconut cream - not bad, not amazing though

Instead of simply saying they were unable to accommodate the request or offering another option, we were told to "go somewhere else," despite already spending the amount we did . The complete lack of professionalism and basic customer service was honestly shocking. It's disappointing to be treated that way at a place we have supported so consistently. I've worked in Little Italy in the past but have never tried Caffe Italia. I got their Italian sandwich, with the default bread being focaccia. I thought it was tasty as well as their coffee, however my coffee wasn't filled up all the way. It is strong and their roast is bold! I liked it a lot, although a lunch meal can get costly so it would just be from time to time if I were to revisit. Not only that, but they also have a small selection of gelatos which look pretty authentic like Spumoni! Other desserts I saw were mousse, tiramisu, cannoli, cheesecake, carrot cake, and rugelach.
