Orange chicken with lo mein
Roxanne W.

Lovely dine in, old school Chinese restaurant. Sweet, friendly, very accommodating servers. Excellent food, never had a bad meal. Generous portions, cooked to your specifications.

Terrible....my daughter consumed a unknown substance with the consistency of a honey or cheese pull in your shrimp fried rice...never ordering again

I asked for fine cut pork fried rice and got chicken

Moved to the area and this place has decent reviews and is close to my house.. the food lacked flavor.. the fried rice looks better than it taste. Almost tastes like white rice. The Mongolian beef is nothing like it is in other restaurants. It has carrots.. the food let me down. AND it is almost $20 for the plate! I also asked for pork fried rice and got chicken. This place is a hugggeeee let down. Easily some of the worst quality and bang for your buck Chinese restaurant I've ever been to.

Chicken chop suey lunch special with order of crab Rangoon
Dani M.

I've ordered several times from this establishment and wanted to take a moment to share my experience. For delivery I ordered the chicken chop suey lunch special with choice of vegetable fried rice and veggie egg roll. I added a side of crab rangoon. My food was delivered piping hot, fresh and delicious. I'm not a big eater so I'll have lunch for 3 days. The fried rice was loaded with fresh veggies. Beautiful presentation and packed to the top !! I added the sweet sauce packet and a little soy sauce for more flavor. Same with the chicken chop suey which had huge chunks of chicken breast meat in it. The crab rangoon was savory and had plenty of crispy crunch to the bite and generous tasty filling. Egg roll was equally delish. I often purchase a small hot and sour soup and add a few spoonfuls to my food for an extra zing of flavor. Get ready to clear your sinuses with that soup. A wonderful soup which says a lot as I don't care for spicy food. Give this place a try and hope that you get Omarr as your DoorDash driver. Friendly and fast delivery considering how busy they are.

Many locals recommended this place after the sudden closing of our regular spot of 20+ years so we gave it a try. No thank you. I placed the order online and was given a pick up time of about 25 minutes. When I went in to pick up my order, the whole place was very dark and it was super cold in there (like was the heat even on kind of cold). I was informed by a very polite man at the counter that there was a delay in the orders due to staffing issues. After another 30 minutes sitting in their lobby with several other annoyed customers, my order was finally ready. We decided to try our usual entrees and a couple of apps ($67 total). Both the Hong Sui and lobster sauce were soooo dark & that should've been our first clue that this was going to be an issue. Holy soy sauce Batman! The beef satay was an order of 4 skewers, cold, gristle, salty. The chicken wings were plain fried chicken - not bad but nothing notable. The shrimp and lobster sauce was full of a ton of shrimp and meat which was nice, but the amount of salt/soy made it difficult to eat. The Hong Sui chicken had large, beautiful chunks of breaded and fried chicken breast and fresh vegetables so I was excited but again the amount of sodium made it impossible to enjoy. After one piece of chicken, I was done. The shining star was the order of stir-fried green beans, which again were doused in soy sauce but a little more balanced due to the addition of some white rice. Overall, it was a miss for my family and I will not be returning. Inaccurate order times, cold food, salt bomb.

Chicken lo mein

Shrimp fried rice is made with mini mini mini shrimp. The flavor and temp of the food was ok. Chicken lo mien was ok with very few vegetables and pieces of chicken. I called my order in and the service was good. The dining room is closed so it reflects that. Dark but clean!

Is Fortunate House Restaurant closing ? On Saturday when my dad was trying to order food no one would answer the phone. I love this place and it's our only Chinese restaurant we go to.

Sorry we missed his call. Due to the Covid19 our hours have changed maybe he called when we were closed. Thank for your concern.

So first I will start off with this is not my first time at this location, as I have had ups and…read moredowns at this location. My review is mainly for yesterday Sunday Sept 13, 2020 So My Lady and I decided to place and order with them since we were driving back home from Indy and did not want to make supper. So we ordered the following: Appetizers: 2 Orders of Egg Roll (Veggie) 2 Orders of Chicken Teriyaki on Stick 1 Healthy Salad Mango 1 House Soup - Wonton Sushi: 1 White Dragon Roll 1 Chicago Moonlight Roll 1 Unagi-Q Roll 2 orders of Ika(Squid) Sushi pieces(brings 2 an order) entrees / meals: 1 Order of Orange Chicken, was to coem with white rice, but got fried instead. Drinks: 2 Smoothies - Coconut Pineapple Overall our meal for Dinner was great, and yes of course we had left overs due to the amount of food we had, but it was worth it in our opinion. We both can say with the orange chicken they make compared to others, we can actually taste the orange in their recipe, something we really like and appreciate, plus we enjoyed eating it the next day unlike others. It is not over fried and has a sweet taste but not over powering, just right. Only issue with the order for orange chicken was I ordered white rice an got fried rice, but it was no big deal, just a preference was all, but I was not over charged so I let it go. We both love their wonton soup, so it is something we tend to always order. As for the Mango Salad It was not what I thought ti was going to be, just iceberg and mangos, so it was alright, but I personally liked the ginger dressing they had on it. We both loves the Chicken Teriyaki on Stick, chicken had flavor and was real good, almost wishes I placed 3 orders lol. Egg rolls had good flavor for veggie, we did get a free pork egg roll but I did not really care for the pork, but then again I rarely eat pork. As for the sushi, we have not really had any big issues this year unlike we use to several years ago, so that will be a hit or miss at any establishment, but for now I can say we loved the rolls we orders yesterday. I just with they had more selections without cream cheese. Only fair warning I can give is with the drinks, in the smoothies you are only allows 2 ingredients per order or it is extra, the coconut pinapple seems likes one option in the menu if ordered from their app, but it s actually 2 ingredients do not be fooled, as I was. Overall it is a good flavor for a smoothie. Overall we loved the Chinese and Japanese we ordered and will definitely be back in the future.

It was so overcooked that it smelled bad, and I find it hard to believe that the person who prepared it didn't realize there was a problem before serving it. I called the restaurant to let them know what happened. I was told they would prepare a new order so it would be ready when I arrived. The person at the front specifically verified that I was leaving home immediately. When I got there, however, it was clear that the replacement order had not been prepared. What bothers me most is the disregard for a customer's time. Whether it's a restaurant, doctor's office, or any other business, my time and effort are just as valuable as theirs. I ended up spending 35 minutes and driving 12 miles to correct a problem that should never have occurred in the first place. The time and inconvenience involved substantially exceeded the value of the dish. The only reason I made the trip back was because kids can be picky about what they will eat, and when they want something prepared a certain way, you make the effort to get it right. As for the food itself, I would consider it comparable to the other mediocre Chinese restaurants in the area. I work downtown and prefer going to Chinatown when I want Chinese food. Unfortunately, my usual restaurant is currently closed for the month for vacation. I can't wait for them to reopen.
