Great Chinese food, probably the best in the area. Watch out! They're having problems with taking orders via Yelp. Ordered at 6:20, called at 7:50 asking where it was and they never got the order. I'm not sure if it's the location or the whole chain but I moved from Schaumburg to Hoffman Estates and the Elgin location is the nearest location and serves really bad food. I loved their food but from this location it has been a horrible experience. It's my third time last night and I always order 4 dishes in large for a large party. This location has been a let down every time. That's 10 different dishes with appetizers and side dishes. I put two stars because the delivery is good but not happy with the food at all. read more

This was my first visit. It was recommended by friends, now I know why. All of the dishes were made with high-quality ingredients. Each dish had a distinctly flavorful taste on its own. Definitely one of the better Chinese restaurants in the Northwest suburbs! I actually prefer the Elgin location over the Schaumburg location as the food I've gotten thus far from the Elgin location has been fresher. I like that my vegetables still have a bite to them whether I pick up the food myself or have the food delivered. Elgin location has yet to disappoint. It was our first time eating at Fortune house and my parents just moved to Hoffman estates and have yet to find a good Chinese place. So we wanted to try Fortune house to see if it was good, and to have a regular Chinese place to eat. We were delighted. Not only was the price excellent, the chicken tasted so fresh, white meat and cooked to order. The bean curd soup I got was enough for two and I was so pleased that it didn't have garlic or onion in it. It was perfect. The dumplings were good too. Waste of money. Ordered lemon chicken and beef egg foo yung lunch. Lemon chicken was very bland. Chicken tasted oldish, rubbery, and was not tender. It came with huge amount of rice, breaded chicken breast, a few shreds of lettuce, sliced up lemon, and a very bland sauce. Not worth the money and half ended up in garbage. The beef egg foo yung was the worst I've ever had. Beef was just large chunks of tough fatty meat. Yuk. Most went in the garbage. The fried rice was very basic. Flavored rice and a couple of bean sprouts. That's it. No vegetables or meat, all of that is an extra charge. Worst chinese food we've ever had. Wasn't even edible. Will never go back. On a good note, the service was fast and the employee at counter was very nice and friendly. read more

We have lived in Elgin for almost 4 years and just now tried Fortune House... We have been missing out! Nothing compares in the Elgin area. I ordered the Sesame Chicken Combination Plate that came with fried rice, an egg roll, and a soda. My husband ordered the Kung Pow Beef Combination Plate. We also shared the Crab Rangoon. Also amazing! The portions are HUGE! By using their online website for their Schaumburg location I knew they had coupons available, and we got a pork fried rice for free with our order. Delivery on Saturday night was almost exactly 60 minutes, which is what we were told. read more

We are so glad Fortune House opened this Elgin location so close to us!! The food is consistently excellent (which has been our biggest issue with other places nearby) and the staff is always friendly!! Try the chow fun beef, so good!! But I recently tried the shrimp and lobster sauce, way too many mushrooms (who puts mushrooms in shrimp in lobster sauce anyway?) and a clear sauce, very odd, I can't Recommend it... but everything else we've tried had been very good! read more

I was VERY disappointed in the food. The portions were good, but the food was dry and unflavored. I have ordered teriyaki beef from every restaurant and this was the worse. While the beef itself was a good amount, it was so dry and flavorless. It was VERY NOT TERIYAKI...JUST NO FLAVOR AT ALL.. I had the egg rolls and they were again, flavorless. My grandson who is a huge egg roll and teriyaki beef and chicken person also did not find any flavor to these. While the flavor was there for the crabmeat rangoon, it was allllll cream cheese and no crabmeat flavor. AND there was so little filling to the giant deep fried pastry it was stuck in. Make them smaller so the filling is a part of the experience. Because this was so close to home we decided to try it. It was our first and definitely last experience. Update: this used to be our go to for delicious Chinese food delivery... over the past several months we have given more chances than I'd like to admit and it has been awful every time. My husbands orders of Szechuan Beef have ranged from inedibly salty to downright sweet. Seriously, after 2 bites (me and him) it went into the trash. My general tso chicken has been flavorless or ridiculously sweet, like syrupy. Really sad that our go to had become a total no go. I am not a fan of the Fortune House location in Schaumburg, but I thought maybe a new location would taste better. I'm glad I tried, because everything was really delicious! I had the best Mongolian Beef I think I've ever had, and the boyfriend's fried rice was pretty good too. My crab rangoon had plenty of filling, spring rolls were nice and crispy. I just ordered my food and the delivery guy delivered my food across the street from me. Gave my food to the neighbor and did not ask to sign anything. I called them and the Manager did not want to refund my money and said "why are you mad at me, it was your fault for putting in the wrong address" but I over heard the lady in the background say that my account was the correct address. Neighbors had a free meal on me but I am disputing this charge. I order from here on a weekly basis spending over $50.00 everytime. They have lost my business for good. The chicken & broccoli was good, but for the same price at other places it includes an egg roll. The chicken fried rice was good except for the chicken. It was dry and not good at all. I ordered hot and spicy beef and singapore noodles. The beef was not spicy instead it was smothered in sugar. It was really strange. The beef tasted over cooked along with the sliced green bell peppers. The noodles were over cooked as well. I saw eight cooks through the window like they were trying to immitate yu's mandarine too bad they can't make a couple of dinner plates for pick up. The shrimp in the singapore noodles was the only thing that was cooked nicely. I changed it from 2 stars to 3 stars because after I wrote whats above I called them and they told me to return the food for a full refund. The guy at the counter says to me that the hot and spicy beef is normally sweet. lol so why isn't it called sweet and not spicy beef? Or just sweet chewy beef. Had to drive 17 min. to return the food. I have never returned food for a refund until today from a restaurant. For the people who rate 5 stars because of big portions please stop using yelp. Quality not quantity. I don't care that they gave me my money back. My stomach feels bloated for what little bit we ate. I feel so sick. Go to fortune at your own risk! read more
