This place just seems nasty, I guess you can say it's par for the course. I rather go to waretown for buffet.

The staff was friendly and efficient. The food was atrocious. The worst chinese buffet I've been to. Food was cold, tasteless, not prepared well. A total disappointment. read more

I haven t been here for at least a year I was very disappointed with the food The coconut shrimp was tasteless The wonton were tough The General Tso s was stringy It was bad read more

Love this place, the food is great. There are times when you have to wait but it's worth the wait.

Very clean! Very good food! They are always on top of making sure there is plenty of items full. A little high priced but it is all you can eat and for some people they can eat!! read more

We were there on 2/5/24. This was the most dirtiest places I have ever been to. The bathrooms are gross and dirty. The waiting area is next to the buffet and please we're laying all over the desert bar and had handbags on the bar. Some were even taking cookies with their hands. Management saw it and did NOTHING to stop or prevent it. The counters were dirty and people were using their hands in the ice cream bar. I would have never went here by choice but it was a family celebration that I couldn't miss. I ended up at the diner because it's gross. Board of Health should be there on the weekends read more

Went down to seaside heights for the day with the kids and we wanted to visit a buffet, I have teenagers that eat a lot! Let me tell you this place was awesome! For a table of 6 on a Sunday the wait was no longer than 10 mins and it was super busy when we got there! The price per person was affordable! And the quality of food was amazing! They have such a wide range of food! I would definitely come back here! Highly recommend!!! read more

Not great but not bad either. Sushi selection is very generic and I had to keep asking for more than 1piece of meat from the carving station since they sliced it so thin . Staff is attentive and restaurant was clean . read more

Mark & Angie, the food is really excellent to eat in your restaurant a restaurant for the great price and everything else anybody that complains about it shouldn't very decent and good food to eat read more

Most of the food was bland, tasteless. Some was edible. The roasted pork was dry as the Sahara. The salmon was absolutely smothered in some brown sauce. Even the fresh ocean fish was dry. It's a large buffet though, so you're bound to find something you like. The sushi bar was limited and looked old so I skipped that. Ice cream looked like solid ice blocks of the cheapest ice cream available. The lady filling the food bins was carelessly letting her dirty hand towel dip into the food. The floor has tons of food droppings everywhere. The old dragon lady receiving payment at the register looked and acted like she wakes up in the morning to suck lemons and hates her life, her job, and humanity. I wasn't impressed! If you're a bulk eater and just have to eat bushels and bushels of bland, dirty food, then this is the place for you. If you actually care about taste and what you put into your body, then steer clear of this place. I ended up with a bad experience and indigestion. I gave 2 stars because I did eat some of the vegetables, a couple of shrimp, and a few pieces of sautéed steak. Overall though, I wish I had passed. I won't be back. read more

Decent Chinese food. Reasonable prices. Good selection on buffet. Good place to go if you are in the mood for Chinese and like variety.

For the prices charged, the food is a disappointment. Some items are left unreplenished for long periods of time. Other items that were supposed to be hot were merely tepid. The pork fried rice was cold and greasy. The soda, hot tea and Chinese almond cookies were the only things that were tasty. I will not return nor can I recommend this er, place. read more

The food is here is good and there is a lot of variety. There are many different stations to choose from depending on the type of meal you want to have. There is Seafood, Mongolian, Chinese, and even American. The desert station is not so good, but they also have an incredible fruit section that makes up for it, or ice cream bar to choose from. Prices run around $10 for lunch and $13 for dinner. You definitely get your money's worth in terms of the food. However, the one big problem that I had was the overall cleanliness of the restaurant. I understand that this is a buffet, and it can get very busy, however the bathrooms are really bad and dirty. The tables and seats are not very clean at all. It cannot be hard to employ a specific cleaning person to take care of sanitizing the tables regularly. The main room where the food is kept is clean, however the bathrooms and seating areas are horrible. If Fortune Buffet could improve in this one area, they would seriously improve the good thing that they have going. read more

First time visit and this place sucks. Came for the "sushi bar" ... They had 5 plates of "sushi options". The rice was hard and sushi was not fresh. The avocadoon the sushi was even browning. It was around 6:30 when we came in and no fresh sushi was made while we were there... In fact they were cleaning up upon arrival. They say they are open till 9:30 so why was there no fresh sushi still being made. The other food we got was pretty much room temp and some of our meat was cold. The doughnuts were not hot and fresh and tasted stale. Staff was nice and the place seemed clean. Overall I would not recommend this place or even go back. I'm scared i'm going to get food poisoning. Also not good to hear from a customer at another table say "this place just keeps getting worse" and told her daughter not to eat anymore of the seafood. Yuck! read more

It's alright it can either be a hit or miss some days. It's either really clean and the foods great or it's a mess. And for the ones who need to use the restroom I highly suggest hold it. The bathroom is either always out of order or a mess read more

Best buffet around now. Foods fresh and taste good. If your going on the weekends expect a wait.

Worse customers service . They opened at 11am and nothing is ready by 11:45. When I asked for the raw food to be cooked. He replayed with a nasty attitude that the grille is busy ! You're not supposed to get everything ready by 11:00 am! This place is going down to hell ! I use to go once a week ! No more ! read more

First time here, outside building is deceiving. Best buffet I've been too! Food was fresh & delish and service was excellent, reasonable price for all that they offer. Definitely recommend! read more

Pretty super for the price!!! Very glad to have found the place. They even took my reservation on Saturday. I'm a foodie and if they are serving you fresh fried blue crab chopped in to sections for the price of an average Chinese buffet with all those selections, jump all over it! This is probably the best kept secret in NJ. Value is A++. Food is B. read more

Nothing horrible, yet nothing spectacular about this place. My least favorite observation was that the staff was constantly bickering and talking amongst themselves in an asian dialect. Nothing more that two or three words to the patrons. I witnessed one shoulder pass and bump into an elderly patron using a walker. Didn't even say excuse me, just kept walking. The food was ok. Your regular Chinese Buffet faire. For the low price it is worth it. I didn't encounter anything unpleasant. Addendum: their desert/fruit section was better/fresher than I expected. read more

Look, it's a Chinese food buffet. It's not a 5-star gastropub. That being said... For buffet food, its not bad. I've been here a couple times (with my dad, who really enjoys Chinese buffets), and even though its crowded around dinnertime, the staff always seems to be able to keep the food decently stocked. Good selection of food, even if all of it isn't the best quality - again, it's a buffet... you don't come here with a discriminating palate. Lot of fried dishes, but lets face it, its hard to screw up fried food. Prices are acceptable. If you're looking for a good amount of food for a decent price and don't mind average quality food, this place is your nirvana. Seriously though... don't get sushi here. Come on, have some self-respect. LOL Oh, and the servers wear name tags with names that are obviously fake. If your English is limited to 2 or 3 sentences, I highly doubt your name is Ralph. That made me chuckle. read more

The general TSO chicken was literally like eating Doritos like refried, crunchy old. Disgusting.

Compared to other Chinese buffets In the area, this one is really the best. Compared to some I've been in north jersey it's really not that great. Dinner on a weekday is only $12 and they have pretty good selections and decent buffet sushi. The crab legs are a little sad though. read more

Arrived at 5:30 and sat right down we went expecting crab legs but instead they had dungeoness crabs which were dried out =pass! But over all food was good read more

First review, but not my first time here. As Chinese buffets go, this place is pretty good. It gets real busy, as it's a local favorite, & sometimes the wait to be seated can be long, but, they seem to move people along. The restaurant is a decent size, & they even have an extra room for parties/groups. It's clean & brightly lit, with some usual Chinese decor, bamboo, a fish tank, & of course, The Buddha. The food is always fresh, as it doesn't stay long in the trays. They have the Chinese classics; General Tso's, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Pork-fried Rice, etc. But, they also have BBQ chicken, Vegetables, & last night, they even had Kielbasa! They also have fresh sushi, & a ton of different deserts, plus ice creams. The prices are moderate, I guess you could say. For example, a 2-person buffet is $30 + tip. But, if you leave hungry, complaining you didn't get your money's worth, it's your own fault. They also have take-away, but I'm not sure how it works, pay by the container, or the pound, I don't know. You'd have to ask at the counter or call. The service is friendly enough, but I guess you could feel rushed if it's busy. I say ignore it & enjoy your meal. If you're looking for tasty Chinese buffet in Toms River, I definitely recommend the Fortune Garden. Just remember, you may have to wait. But, just like a fortune cookie might say; Patience is a virtue worth having. Your lucky numbers are: 7 25 42 69 read more

Good food for the money. Always busy good food turnover. Little greasy but tasty fresh food

Long post- So last weekend we went to Fortune Buffet in Toms River and our bill was $112 with tip. I went to use a Visa Gift Card which had $200 on it. I've never used it and even double checked to make sure the money was on it. There was $200 when we left. Went to pay and they said sorry only 5 cents on the card I said that's impossible I know their is more than enough They argued a little and I said forget it I'll use my debit card. I paid and left. Well I checked the account b/c I just remembered and it says their is $1.95 on the card. So I freak out and go online and look and it shows all the transactions. Their was the 5 cents from fortune buffet and that same night their were 2 charges for $99 to PayPal for somewhere in California. There was a 3rd charge but didn't go through because there wasn't enough funds. I talked to visa and they are handling it now. I have to wait 30-60 days. So I call Fortune Buffet hoping to talk to owner and they say owner won't be around but speak to "manager" I explain very nicely and just say listen I believe one of your employees may be stealing from customers I just want you to be aware of this issue I'm not looking for anything but this isn't something you want to continue to happen. She then basically starts saying that how do I know it was someone there and maybe it was someone in my house (it's been in my wallet since that night no one even knew where it was) and then she says maybe it's who bought it for you. The money was there. It shows when it was purchased on the website (12/24) and when it was used 2/12/2023 and then that same day there were charges for for PayPal in San Jose,CA. She said people say that I lost a diamond ring there your employee stole it and now you say this. It wasn't my employees I don't have time for this and hangs up. I called to warn her and their business so this wouldn't happen again and this is what she says and does. I will never go again. Very unprofessional and upsetting this is how she reacted to what I said read more

This a decent buffet. I loved the Mongolian bbq part about it. The sushi was ok, nothing spectacular. The food was not bad and some standouts include the ribs and roasted duck. The crab legs were ok. Overall, left full so not complaining and I would go again. read more

I see reviews that say "not clean, staff lousy" etc. Look, this is not a fine dining experience, it costs 8.00 for lunch and has the most extensive and changing buffet you can ask for. Food is always very good (I travel a lot and have been to plenty of these types of places and this one is at the top of the game). The place is always crowded, that tells you all you need to know. Go to the bathroom at home , very few restaurants have nice bathrooms, how can you when there are patrons that are slobs. It costs more to eat at Mcdonalds. Go here for what it is, cheap, extensive selection, good quality food. read more

Great variety and quality at a reasonable price. Lunch stops at 3,:30 and higher priced dinner begins. I'm happy with the lunch.

First time here and was very good. Lots of items to choose from and everything was hot and fresh. I was looking forward to crab legs and picked up a couple of clusters but I'm not sure what butter is used but it is the worst tasting stuff I ever had, almost tasted rancid. I'm sort of glad I didn't like them because there was so much more to choose from. The staff was friendly and my drink was filled when empty. I was not impressed with the cleanliness of the bathroom, waste baskets were full, excess was all over floor, and urinals were plugged with paper towels. read more

After well over a year due to COVID, me and my friends were finally able to go out to an all you can eat buffet. Wow did I miss it. I love how they work it now because of COVID. You grab your plate, stand by a station, and the employees pile your plate as much as you want with hot and fresh Chinese food. Although I miss the alternative of doing it myself, I can get used to this new system. Anyways, the food was irresistible, the service was very nice, and me and my buddies had a good time. As much as I loved the food and had fun, I was very uncomfortable due to their careless COVID restrictions. It was obvious that they did not have any capacity limits because the place was as packed as it was before the pandemic. There were no tables spread apart, about 3 feet away, similar to before the pandemic. There was no sanitation on tables after customers left and there were customers getting up to get food without masks. The employees did not stop them or tell them to put masks on. The buffet was way out of control and it made me feel discomfited. When I first heard of the buffet re-opening since the beginning of the pandemic, I imagined 25% capacity and limited customers getting food at a time. I recommend this idea not to harm their business, but to help keep everybody safe and healthy to reduce the risk of COVID. Thank you. read more

When my family finished eating at the buffet, I told them to go to car while I settled the bill. I was with my husband, 2 elderly grandparents , and 2 children (both under 5). I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and got a call from my husband. He said as soon as they got to our car several waitresses from Fortune Buffet had surrounded the car. They were yelling "you didn't pay!" "We're calling the cops!" He tried telling them I was still inside but they kept yelling over him. I walked to the counter and settled our check and went outside to show the "mob" but they wouldn't even acknowledge me or the receipt. "Unbelievably mortified". is the words my mother used, and she's right. Never going there again. Shame on you people for doing that to my family!! read more

We really didn't enjoy our dinner at the Fortune Buffet. We went in with high hopes as the buffet holds a 4.2/5 star rating from over 1,000 reviews on Google, but we were extremely underwhelmed. None of the food was hot or tasted fresh. The sushi and dessert selections were sub-par. I will note that they did offer a Mongolian BBQ option which I did not take advantage of, and the staff was very friendly. read more

The place is clean and very well organized. Got all kinds of food like sushi( just ok not special or good but eatable) Mongolian, American and of course Chinese food. They run pretty well, keep filling and cleaning the food area very well Got more fresh fishes then other same size Chinese buffet around but on my day the oyster is not so fresh so I don't try and it looks not interesting Find snow crabs legs but no crabs at all.
