Concrete finishers completing a California finish on a new driveway

Excellent service! Excellent communication!! Excellent quality & price! I wish that all home improvements were this easy, affordable, & high quality.

    Water pooling

Well if I could give them negative stars I would. Someone reached out to me in March saying they would love to help me out and they are trying to fix their reviews. I was skeptical but said ok no problem. I sent pictures and they said my driveway would be taken care of. They said the asphalt plant does not open until April and they will reach out. August just started and I have not heard a word. I texted the number that messages came from and it has been absolute silence. If anyone comes across this place PLEASE STAY AWAY!!!! I kept the yelp messages and texts from them just in case but this place loves taking your money and that is it.

    Walkway

Outstanding workmanship, very reliable- Andro and the entire Fortis Ground Works team did a fantastic job on our patio, walkway and Steps.. exposed aggregate with an overlay border. From design to delivery 5 stars.. thank you

    Stamped concrete service walk

Great from far, far from great. Work was completed last fall. They dug out the old black top, replaced it, took out brick on edges of driveway, poured and stamped concrete along driveway and two service walks. They also skim coated the stoop and stamped that. No less than four groups of workers asked me which stamp and which color the concrete should be so apparently no one in the company communicates with each other. Overall the work looks acceptable, from afar. We were happy, at first. Now six months later we ask them to address problems that should be covered under warranty and we get no response. The apron was chipped terribly by the workers. At first it didn't look terrible but after a single winter we can see that it's a problem. The sealant on the stamped concrete is chipping off all over. We didn't expect that to last more than a year, but it should have lasted more than six months. The stoop pattern doesn't match the rest of the walks. It could have but the workers were sloppy and working fast. Fortis returned once to add some stain so the stoop and service walks sort of match. Now it just looks like brown nicotine stains all over. Terrible sloppy work with a good sales pitch. Find another company to work with!

Water during the rain comes inside.

Worst experience ever I had in my life with the building companies. They changed my garage floor and drive way. Garage floor has a wrong slope now with puddles everywhere. They came later to cut the concrete in order to fix it and did it even worse - you can check attached pictures. Also during the rain water comes inside to garage from outside. The guys are not following the building codes. The guy named Joe was yelling at me at my home, very unprofessional. Was telling that it would not be possible to make garage door level lower. Michael Hertz promised to make at least 1.5 inch slope in garage and to fix the drain they cut in order to extend driveway 4 days before they started - pure lie, nothing was done. Avoid this company at any cost, save your nerve cells. This guys are rude and unprofessional.

They Chipped our driveway when adding new border

Awful company. I don't even know where to start. We signed contract on April 2nd 2021. They started work second week of June and we are still far from being done. They made so many mistakes and don't want to fix it. They forgot to do the stamped walk path (as per signed contract) so they tried to covered it with doing overlay without consulting with us, and hoping we wouldn't notice. Also, The border of the driveway looks awful. They messed up again and instead of removing the concrete they tried to fixed it by patching their mistake and it looks horrible now! They damaged our brick, siding and garage door when pouring the cement. It splashed all over. Damaged our driveway (which we had power washed and sealed a week prior Fortis coming) scratched, chipped, left tire marks no cracked the sidewalk with parking cement mixer on the driveway!I have hard time to contact them and have them come and finish the job they've started. Such a headache. I wish I would've read reviews before hiring them. We had so many people working on our house and no one was so unprofessional and did such a bad job

I had them come re-sand and reseal, and the sand filled in is falling apart on one side of my patio as well as the edges in only a few months. They came a second time to try to fix it. Told them to let me know when they come because I want to be there whey they start so I can see what they're doing. I did not trust they were doing it well. They came out but didn't let me know and only after they had started, they came to me. That pissed me off, because I explicitely told them to wait until I am outside with them because of that and that I had questions. That request was blatantly ignored. Now about a couple months later, that sand is falling between the cracks and soft to the touch, I can literally compress it with my finger and I now have sand missing between cracks all over the place on one side of my patio again. There's no way they sealed that because that sand wouldn't be soft to the touch and able to compress with your finger! It's not only soft, they don't even put enough sand in it let alone forget to seal the damn thing. The second time they came out, they try to blame it on water, as if I'm an idiot (sure after a few months I expect this to all fall apart). There's nothing that would cause this. Regular rain shouldn't cause a $2k+ job to fail after a few months. The prior company who sanded this patio, the sand was not falling apart like this anywhere. Even after 5 years. Now I'm going to have to refill that sand and fix this myself. Maybe learned a lesson, just do this stuff yourself. Do it right the first time and you won't have reviews like this. Or customers that annoy you because you can't do your job well. They claim "warranties to match our underrepresented workmanship!". What warranty? I got no warranty and even when they come to fix the mess up, it still falls down. Anyone gets rain, even down pours. It's very clear what areas they did not do properly because the rest of the patio is holding ok. I expect a job to last a few years not a few months. Rain and nature happen, we expect this to hold up at least on average 3-5 years. I'm just going to seriously go back to Menards, there's a mexican guy there who knows a lot about this, and he's told me how I can just fix it myself and save money. He explained the different sealants, etc. and the pros and cons. That's exactly what I am going to do. No more hiring people for this. The ants are even crawling into the cracks now. Good times, right before it starts getting cold outside. So glad I have to spend a couple hours fixing this sh** now. I don't normally go out and rant like this but any moron can see this is not done right. More here on my actual patio, see the problem first hand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xm8h2ZUq88A How it's supposed to be: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMu1l2ure4M https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRGi6xa9ALo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qi-KeIcv-Kk You do your customers right. You f up the job, you redo it. I expect the craft to be done well. You make mistakes, you fix it. You don't just tell people it is what it is and make excuses like you did with me after the fact.

Bartlett Concrete matched the best quote we got, I liked the Rafael the owner, and I liked that they are family owned and local to Bartlett, so we decided to go with them. Rafael was flexible with the payment arrangements, and was patient and understanding through a mini-fiasco we had with our banks. For the actual new driveway: they did the work on schedule and did a beautiful job, we absolutely love it. My dad (construction/carpentry background) is extremely picky when it comes to contractors doing work, he has a very high bar whether it's himself or others doing it, and so he was here helping out and just being around literally the entire week the new driveway was being put in to make sure everything was done with a high degree of quality. Rafael and his team got my dad's seal of approval which is pretty much the best compliment a contractor can get as far as I'm concerned. Thanks so much Rafael, we really love the driveway!
