After receiving several bids for deck removal and installation of a stamped concrete patio, we chose G Cat Construction. We saw many very favorable reviews and their bid was well below others. It also included more options. We were not disappointed. Our deck was removed in one day and then Vito and his crew came back to mock up the design we were thinking about. After several minor changes, the outline was marked out and the work began. G Cat has all the equipment you could possibly think of to make a job move along quickly and as perfectly as possible. Jillian came out and helped us select the concrete colors and stamping designs. The patio was put down in two pours and either Vito or his father Mike (He's the one with the cigar) supervised. The team worked like a well-oiled machine. Everyone knew exactly what to do and when to do it. There was no damage to the lawn and the crew cleaned up each time they were here. On the final visit the sealing coats were applied and then the color really came out. It was outstanding! We were available to watch the progress of the work. The vast number of steps required to complete this work is mind boggling. Doing the work well and not taking short cuts is paramount in the process. G Cat operates with great integrity and respect for the client. No short cuts! Each time we look at our new patio we see the beautiful result of the color, texture, and the stamped design. Even the detail of the step down from the house has a live edge on the concrete. It looks like a large actual stone. Best of all is the minimal maintenance of the patio. Here's what I wish I knew prior to hiring this company, which was recommended by a friend who used them a year prior. 1) I did not know that all the dirt that was hauled away could've been saved and used later as once the concrete was poured, empty spaces were left behind and it was my problem to go and fill with dirt (all 600 lbs of it was needed, 3 trips to Home Depot and a days work) When I asked the guy in charge about it and asked if he could bring some dirt back, he said 'we don't do landscaping'. I didn't think this was abnormal until I compared my experience with another friend's and her company left enough dirt behind to fill in the holes and actually filled them. You could've easily broken an ankle walking down the sidewalk if not careful and slipped off the concrete the way they left it. 2) one of the workers broke my stair railing by swinging on it to get off the patio onto the grass (instead, he could've walked through the house) Luckily my brother happen to come over to walk my dog and saw it happen. Once I complained, the guy in charge had a different story of how it happened but agreed to look at it a fix it. 2 weeks after they completed the job, my railing had to be fixed by my father as I didn't want to wait any longer. He did Thebes he could, but and it still wobbles. Had my brother not seen it happen, they probably would've denied it happening at all. 3) 2 months after completion I noticed a crack extending from the side of the house all the way thru the width of the walkway. I inquired about it but was told 'it's just a hairline fracture' and to not worry about it and monitor for now. Sure, that maybe the case but I spent a good amount of hard earned money on this project (which may not seem like much to them) and would expect no cracks for at least a few years. I anticipate if the crack gets bigger over winter, it will no longer be their problem as too much time will have passed 4) I love my patio, even with the crack, But would not recommend this company to anyone just based on their customer service. read more

Just had my second job completed buy G-CAT. Work looks great! Their staff is very responsive to answer any questions or concerns. Had driveway poured several years ago, not an imperfection to be found. Just added on a side extension they matched the existing driveway perfectly. Their finishing work is amazing. They run a very clean operation, not a thing was left behind that I had to clean up. They handled all the permitting with the village of which can be time consuming. The owners are very good about explaining the process from start to finish. Genuinely good people to work with. They have a great payment system in place and are not pushy about collecting once the work has been completed. I have had neighbors use them after see the great work that they perform. I've had wood decks and paver patios built for previous houses I've owned. This time I decided to go a different route after seeing a stamped concrete patio installed on a HGTV show. I wanted to install a patio along with a walkway from the garage back to the patio. I spoke with several contractors that do this type of work. Although they were all roughly the same price, G-Cat was the one I decided to choose due to my discussions with Vito, the owner of G-Cat., and excellent references from his past customers. Vito answered all of my questions (there were a lot!!), explained the process step by step, started the job on the date expected, and assisted with choosing the stamped pattern and colors. His crew was very professional, and went about laying out the project, pouring and working the concrete, applying the pattern, saw cutting and sealing the completed patio and walkway. At the end of each day, the site was cleaned up of debris and was ready for the next phase until the job was done.
