Purchased a used car before photos were even uploaded to the website. My salesperson, Steven, was easygoing, responsive, and never pushy. He made the buying process smooth and never made my questions feel like an inconvenience. The issues began at pickup a few days later after the vehicle was certified and roof racks were installed. The very next day, the Bluelink app showed a maintenance notification. I contacted Steven, who quickly brought it to the service team. I was told it was likely just a test and not to worry unless a check engine light appeared. That didn't sit right, so I contacted Bluelink directly and was told this was not normal and should not be ignored. When I relayed this back to service, I was told I could bring the car in, but without a warning light nothing would show, and the notification was "in the cloud." A week later, after heavy rain, water began dripping from the interior roof near the sunroof controls and rearview mirror, soaking the center console. I reported it immediately and was initially told to wait a few days, though they got me in the next day. I had to drive 45 minutes and was given a smaller, lower-trim loaner that barely fit my car seat. When I raised concerns, a sales manager (Tim) blamed the situation on the salesperson for not escalating sooner rather than taking accountability. In a later conversation, he also contradicted himself--after previously acknowledging my need for space, he told me he never said I'd be put in a comparable vehicle and claimed I was remembering incorrectly. That interaction was frustrating and unprofessional, especially seeing a new employee blamed instead of supported. Service later said the issue was a clogged drain and returned the car, but the maintenance notification remained. I was told to "give it a few days," and also told the GM would be reaching out--something that never happened. Soon after, during more rain, I noticed water inside the windshield. I contacted Steven again and he responded immediately. This time, I was told a rental would be brought to me and my car taken in for a specialist. Initially, I was again assigned a smaller vehicle until I pushed back and spoke with management. After a frustrating experience, I escalated further and connected with the service manager, Tony, who was professional, took accountability, and corrected the situation by providing a comparable vehicle and consistent updates. The dealership ultimately found a leak requiring additional work and kept my car into the following week. When the repair was complete, the maintenance notification was finally cleared, though communication around it remained inconsistent. I was also told conflicting information about whether my car would be returned to me or if I needed to pick it up. Throughout all of this, Steven and Tony were the only consistently positive parts of the experience--both responsive, professional, and willing to help. However, I never received a call from the general manager, despite being told I would, which spoke volumes about customer care at that level. Overall, I would be cautious purchasing from Fort Mill Hyundai. The sales experience was smooth, but once issues arose, it became difficult to get clear answers or accountability. I would absolutely work with Steven again, but not at this dealership. Horrible experience with service. I brought my car in on Thursday with a troubling check engine light that won't seem to turn off even after the code that is given on a scanner is addressed. They have now been diagnosing the issue for over 2 DAYS with zero updates. The staff is hardly helpful and is dismissive over the phone. Great service again from Fort Mill Hyundai! Everyone is always so nice and accommodating! Tom Furey in the service department always takes great care of me and my Palisade. He gets me an appt ASAP and can always accommodate my hectic schedule. I know when my vehicle is in his possession that I can trust whatever he tells me it needs done, and that he will ensure it's serviced in a timely manner. He's upfront with cost and there's never any unnecessary or unexpected expense. Previously I had taken my car to Goodyear and come to find out I needed a new battery, brakes, and rotors. They quoted me over $500 just for the brakes. I know that taking your car to the dealership is always the best option. The quote from Goodyear seemed high, so I knew to call and check with Tom right away. Tom quoted me less than Goodyear, and explained the battery pricing to me as well. So of course I booked my appt with FM Hyundai. While my car was being serviced, it also needed an oil change. Guess what?! Oil changes are much cheaper at FM Hyundai than your local drive up oil change places! I have been paying over $100 at Take 5 (not to mention Take 5 also now asks for a tip when you pay for your oil change!). My car was at FM Hyundai for 2 days for engine and transmission issues, in addition to the work I mentioned above. Tom was nice enough to put me in a new loaner vehicle, which is always much appreciated. I am a busy mom with 3 kids and I'm always on the go. Making sure I had a comparable vehicle while mine was out of commission is very important to me, and Tom too! He is an asset to this dealership! I had a 9:30 appointment, I arrived at 9:15. Was having an issue with my sunroof closing. At 11:30, I asked the front desk to tell me what was going on. After 15 more minutes I was told the track was dirty and it was disassembled and cleaned and being reassembled. At 1:38 I went back to customer service to inquire about my vehicle and was told 20 more minutes. This from a dealership that charges labor by the hour!! NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

I've experienced poor customer service since the day I bought my vehicle. Unknowingly, I left money in my trade-in vehicle after I handed over my keys to my salesman. Before driving off the lot, I quickly realized this and when I went to check the car, it was not in there (a matter of 30 minutes). I drove home to make sure it wasn't my error and then comforted my salesman that evening. He said he would fill up my gas tank to compensate for the missing money. I understand that it was on my fault for leaving this in the car, but it was extremely sketchy considering my salesperson was the only one who had access between the time I handed over my keys and when I checked the car. I then realized that the mats included on the sticker were never included and the same salesperson told me next time I come in, they would provide them for me. When I came in to request the mats that I paid for, the manager (who wasn't wearing a mask when talking to me) said he could not provide them because it was over 30 days. Had I been informed of this, I would have been in to retrieve them. I was hoping the manager would do the right thing, but again, they came up short. Flash forward six months, I find out my oil change that I scheduled when I bought my car was never actually scheduled. Luckily I was able to get an appointment a week later. The service department was extremely friendly and accommodating given the poor customer service in the sales department which is why I'm giving providing two stars. I would never expect such poor customer service in this industry. They've lost a potential lifelong customer. read more

Do NOT take your car here. Had an appointment 10/26 because my car was broken into and needed the window and steering wheel fixed. Called on Monday 10/30 for an update- no reply. Called again 10/31- told me they were busy and my car hadn't been looked at yet. Waited all week to hear back but heard absolutely nothing. By the time next week rolled around, I still had heard no update on my car. On Monday 11/6 I called FOUR TIMES. Was still not able to get ahold of my service rep, Tom. I left him numerous messages on 11/6 and 11/7 and he never once answered the call or called back. I finally went back down to the dealership on Friday 11/10 because my car had been sitting for 15 days with absolutely no contact from this Hyundai. As I pulled up to the dealership, I saw my car just sitting out in the open with the window still shattered, uncovered, letting the pouring rain come in and ruin my upholstery. Tom, the man who was SUPPOSED to look at my car was incredibly rude to me and just told me they were "soooo busy", despite the receptionist taking personal phone calls at her desk while I walked in, and all of their team members just sitting at the desk. We even got ahold of Hyundai corporate to open a case with them so we could get updates and our case manager couldn't even get Tom to answer the phone. When I was in person he went to the back and it took him all of FIFTEEN MINUTES to do what should have been done FIFTEEN DAYS PRIOR (on my original appointment date), then they told me fixing my broken window would be upwards of a thousand dollars???? Absolutely horrible service and rude staff. Atleast answer your damn phone for a customer or a Hyundai corporate case manager I told them to give me my keys and car back. they were even rude about helping me start the car (the entire ignition had been tampered with during the break in and I couldn't put my key in) and then drove it to a different dealership. Do NOT ever go here for your car to be serviced unless you want it to be sitting out in the open for over two weeks and for them to completely ignore all your calls and give you no updates regarding your car whatsoever. They didn't even bother to cover the shattered window from the rain or vacuum out any of the shattered glass in my backseat. Tom was so rude to me and I will never give them my service EVER again. He made me cry and now I don't know if I will make it home to see my family that I haven't seen in months for thanksgiving because I wasted two weeks waiting to hear back about the status of my car that hadn't even been looked at. After having given Fort Mill Hyundai, two car purchases over the years, running into an issue with my sonata and being told, there's nothing that can be done. I'm basically paying a car payment for a car that's not usable they wouldn't do anything or advocate for me as a customer yet again, I've been disappointed. I scheduled an appointment to have something looked at in the vehicle because there's a recall. I call finally get someone after calling a few times and I'm told hey there's no remedy there's nothing we can do and scheduled my appointment based on availability that they had online. I'm told by the receptionist oh you have a 3:30p appointment that's not enough time for us to do anything and a diagnostic is $180. The customer service is atrocious they don't care about customers only making dollars. Honestly the attitude and lack of caring is extremely disappointing with the issues that Hyundai has been having you would think they would be be willing to do everything possible over to make sure their customers are taken care of. New vehicles that can catch fire the solution is to park outside? Make that math math please? This location is terrible,it sucks that I live in South Carolina, but I will no longer do any business with Fort Mill Hyundai. I will drive into another state and go to South Charlotte Hyundai. Do NOT waste your time going here!! In reading through other people's comments it is easy to see that they are running the same bogus operation over and over again. We bought from a competitor and had SUCH a better experience. Also, don't waste your time emailing or calling the owner/GM Chris O. He does not respond to calls or emails. He has moved on to other (bigger) businesses. He might still own this dealership but it appears to be running over customers just fine without his engagement. This dealership advertises that they sell more Hyundai cars than all other Carolina dealerships. This somewhat elevated my expectations going in. Further, this dealership advertised incredible end of year specials on their website with OVER $5000 off some models including the one we wanted. While I was on their website I was prompted to chat with a representative. I did. Though it quickly turned out to be someone who (apparently) is only associated with the dealership enough to get your name and phone number and have a salesman call you. I tried to get them to confirm pricing and availability for the model we were interested in and they explained that they could not do any of that. Our only option was to drive to the dealership or allow a salesperson to call us. We didn't want to get on a salesman's call list so we decided we would set aside several hours to go to the dealership. We checked the hours listed on the website and they confirmed that they were open on Sunday from 12-6. So, on Sunday we drove 40 minutes to the dealership and were surprised at how quiet things were. We walked to the building and tried to enter. Only then did we see a small, typed note that said they were no longer open on Sundays except for the 3rd Sunday of the month, as of April 2019. Well there went 90 minutes of our time completely wasted. We went back on a weekday and walking into the dealership showroom was like walking back into 1970. The sales associates are desperate to get your name, address and phone number before they do anything else. Even if all you want to know is whether they have the vehicle they have advertised. We played along with the game and gave them our names, address and phone number. This is so they can look up your address and assess your wealth/income without running a credit report. It's also so that they can begin the game of making you sit and wait while they "research pricing". It took about 30 minutes for us to hear that we did not qualify for the special incentives and, therefore, the price of the car was $3000 higher than advertised. The ONLY incentives they asked us about were military and current Hyundai owner. These two incentives (combined) accounted for $1000 of the over $5000 discount they had been advertising. We never could get a straight answer on where the other $2500 or so of incentives went but it's pretty clear this was a misleading ad. Or a lie. You decide what to call it. We spent another 30 mins or so in discussion with the salesman and sales manager and got nowhere. Their price was not as good as we had been offered at a main Charlotte dealership (in spite of the ad on their website). We told them then that we had a better offer from a competitor and planned to purchase from them. I don't think they believed us. We were pretty sure we'd start getting calls the next day, and we did. They wanted to talk more about the car. We didn't. They kept calling. Again, this is what car dealers did 40-50 years ago. Pretend to call you back with another $350 off. Trying to wear you down. Get you to talk. Come back in and look at another car. Shocked to find this dealership still practicing these very outdated sales methods. It implies that they do not know about the internet and how easy it is for a buyer to shop price and to find invoice, incentives, dealer holdback, etc. After several days of them calling us wanting to talk about the car, we decided to go ahead and block their number. We told them we were purchasing from a competitor and we meant it. Not sure why they think these silly games are a good idea. read more

I dropped my car off early overnight in the pouring rain on Thursday 4/27/23, so that Hyundai would have the car available on my appointment date Friday 4/28/23 at 2:30pm. I received a call from Tom the car rep that would be taking care of my car, confirming he received it. We went over what I wanted done and my concern about the engine not getting up to speed when I hit the gas, and I keep hearing a weird sound when it finally does accelerate. I mentioned that I have heard this sound before and have been to different Hyundai dealerships, where one locations replaced the catalytic converter, then I brought it back again with the same Complaint and they claimed to have found a leak and replaced the gasket by the exhaust. I also mentioned that the accelerator situation happened again while I had traveled to Raleigh and I had to find another Hyundai dealership and they replaced the Knox sensor to get me up and running to get back on the highway. They mentioned if it happens again that the next service center will have to follow the codes that appear in my dash board to see what is going on. I explained that he could go ahead and do a oil change and that I had a warning icon up saying my break light was out. So that could be replaced. But to call me with an update about the diagnosis before doing anything, so that I know what would pricing be, he asked if I wanted to pick it up today and I told him tomorrow would be fine. I waited all day on Frid. To see if I would hear back and did not hear back. I called around 12:51pm and spoke with their front desk person to get an update on my car She did not have one and transferred me to Tom, he did answer. I called back and asked if she could have Tom call me back because I have not had an update on my truck. Tom still did not call me back on that Friday, I gave him until 11:30 on Saturday and still don't get a phone call. I finally call and he says nothing has been done, and that they have been busy all day. I asked him why he did not give me a update when my car has been with them for more than 24 hours and I scheduled a appointment online, Tom continued to make excuses that they are working on several cars and have a Skelton crew; along with the diagnostic machine not being available. I told him that was not my problem, and I them not have time to fix my car should have been notified. I told him to just do my oil change and my break light and I will pick the car up today. He said he would call once it is done, 30minutes go by and I get a call from him saying the oil change has been done, but they don't see that my break light are out and they are going to go ahead and do the diagnostic, but there was a vacuum leak found by the throttle and exhaust which they think is the problem; he said they are going to call me back after finishing up the diagnostic and then I can come pick the car up and he will explain everything. I get a call back saying its ready and a lot of codes came up on the engine diagnoses, but he will explain that part when I come in. I get there and he says with all of the lights that showed up, it wasn't the engine light or the oil light so they can't say the engine needs to be replaced, but once that shows up then they can do more about the engine. But dances around saying the engine will have to be replaced, I asked him with just the oil change and gasket replacement is it safe for me to drive off the lot. He said it would be fine, and he could not determine when the engine light would come on. I check out, and start heading home to Charlotte in the Southpark area. The engine and oil light come on. Mind you he showed me that they checked the oil before I left, my car begins to not accelerate the speed and I can't drive over 20 in traffic. I eventually have to pull over, and have to call to have my car toad to my home; because of course they are closed. At this point I don't know if I can trust this dealership, and would think twice about using them. This has been a very bad experience for me and I am now left without a vehicle to drive. This is the reader's digest version of my story. I went to the dealership to trade-in my 2015 Sonata for a 2017 Sonata. Over a month later I got a letter from NCDMV stating I have a lapse in liability insurance on my 2015 Sonata. I started to look into the situation and found out that the dealership was very sloppy with the NCDMV paperwork, my new 2017 Sonata was still registered to the previous owner. A week later i got another letter from NCDMV stating that my "vehicle registration and license plate are revoked effective immediately", (great! Now I'm driving on a revoked license plate). It took me the following to straight this situation: - 5 trips to the dealership not including the first trip of the trade-in (40 min each way from home) - 2 trips to the NCDMV license plate (over 4 hours standing on line) - $50.00 NCDMV penalty for lapse of insurance coverage - Missing on work while dealing with this situation for two month On my last trip to the dealership they finally agreed to get me a new license plate and start fresh filling NCDMV paperwork. It took over two month from the date I traded-in my vehicle to get the paperwork correctly. I sent a long letter to BBB & Hyundai USA to no avail, a stain on their record at most. No compensations, no liability, no apology from the dealership. Sales manager is arrogant and has no customer service skills. It was a horrible experience for me, no one should go through this ever! Regarding the service department: I have a 2017 hyundai bought from the same dealer, the maintenance warranty is 3 years/33,000 miles but there is a catch--it does not cover anything but oil changes. So hitting the 15,000 mile mark they wanted to charge over $200 for the recommended service (and a few other things of course). If you go to the dealer service, its not unexpected to be overpriced, however you would get better service and better prices with someone trusted and local. Accessibility--You wont ever reach them on the phone and no one will call you back. So the only option for booking an appointment is to do it online. The good thing is when you are here the people are professional and the waiting area is nice. The bad part is you will be waiting for hours (Ive waited 2 before) for an oil change. read more
