The front desk person very respectfully and helpful. However, I took my car in because my OB2 showed 3rd cylinder misfire. I took it to advance auto their OB2 showed miss in 3rd cylinder misfire. I take to Honest 1 auto by Lowe's hardware fort mills SC. They fixed the number 5 cylinder which never showed up on my OB2 or Advances. We drive for couple of days, then bang check engine light is on. I test it shows #3 misfire I take back to Honest 1 auto and it is another $360+ to fix cylinder 3 this time their machine showed Cylinder 3; however, wait they also said number 1 cylinder was miss firing. I have never been so disappointed in this severe lack of customer service and how rude the service tech was this morning. My little sister is very young and naïve about cars. Now I feel responsible for her getting scammed honest when lied about the price for the services she asked for and charged her more than double. Took my son's vehicle here to get a full inspection after purchase. It was an older wrangler and I wanted a thorough look over and paid for their in depth inspection to be done. Waste of money and time. Several things missing that needed attention and they claimed to not have taken the wheels off but marked the drum brakes as good to go! Very unhappy and no regaining trust. Took it to them because they said the could fix my transmission problem AND honor CarShield after-market warranty. They assured me the problem was engine tuning and not transmission. Nearly $1,000 later, I had to take it to Fort Mill Ford who diagnosed the problem as a transmission issue and have arranged with CarShield to repair my 2018 Ford Fusion. I guess, if a company has to call itself "Honest", that should speak to the fact that you should be suspicious. read more

I'm here getting a oil change the guy at the front desk tall guy is super nice and I let him know I am pressed for time they took my car right on to the garage for service . They not only have free wi fi and internet service but shark tank is on the tv so I'm quite entertained right now . Also they offer complimentary water and coffee while you wait. The thing I love about this place is it's super clean the floors are so clean it looks as if you could eat off of them if you had to! For it to be a place full of men that alone is shocking . It's super cute with cute small plants sitting around and the bathroom is well kept . To my surprise when I got in the car I even had a treat waiting for me with a thank you note and the business card on my dash now that was a nice touch !This just may be my permanent home for my oil change needs !! An important note to start is that I am an avid car guy and big into DIY car care and service. I do all of my own work as I am picky and I know what I am doing. There are two things I do not do, tire installs and wheel alignments as I do not own the special equipment required. I am new to this area so I did a Yelp search and came across Honest-1. I checked their reviews and went to their website. They were offering $59.95 for a 4 wheel alignment by appointment with the option to schedule online. With the good reviews and ease of scheduling, I went for it. Within an hour I had an email confirming my appointment for first thing next day; cool! Upon arriving to the rather nice waiting room complete with a coffee bar and fireplace, I was greeted by a happy gentleman. I signed a form and they had my car back to me in less than 40 minutes. They provided me with full spec sheets and parked my car at the front door. I reviewed the spec sheets and was impressed as the tech clearly took his time to balance the sides within a couple tenths of each other. This was not a "toe and go" job and I was left with a well balanced alignment and a dead straight steering wheel. I definitely recommend this shop for the alignment service. They actually care to do it right and make sure you are happy. read more

I had used them for simple things without issue. My heat exchanger failed and they indicated they could do the work (which entailed removing the dashboard). The repair was fine, but when they put it back together there were several new problems: the air vent selector didn't turn to all positions, the gas gauge and speedometer were not working either. They gave me some BS about how they would "reset" and sent me on my way. I brought it back a couple days later when the gauges did not "reset" and that is when the nightmare ensued. It took them A MONTH to figure it out - actually they had to take my car to a dealer to get it fixed. They air vent selector still doesn't work properly and, oh yeah, the AC stopped blowing cold air. Their response: it's an old car and these things happen. After a month of this nonsense I just couldn't wait to get out of there. I took the car to another mechanic recommended by a friend to have the AC checked out. It turned out that when Honest-1 did some AC work for me previously, the installed the expansion valve with no o-rings, so all the refrigerant just blew out of the system. Bottom line - they can probably handle an oil change, but make sure they put the cap back on before you drive away! read more

Horrible customer service and price gouging. They wanted to charge me over $200 to change my spark plugs on a 4l motor. I found a spot in Rockhill that charged me $50 and The plugs cost me less then $50 at autozone. They also did some other work that I had to take the car back for and they wanted to charge me for there incompetence. Please do your self a favor and never take your car here. read more

Was quoted over $725 for spark plugs and one other service since my car was approaching a mileage milestone. Seemed high so I called my husband who said run away, don't look back, cut your losses. Ending up paying $140 for a diagnostic and wasting three hours of my day. Took my car elsewhere and saved over $200. What's worse is that I was referred by a hardworking young person with no extra money to spare who's had them work on his vehicle several times. I am very disappointed in the service. Paid approximately $1200 for repairs related to the fan assembly. After picking the truck up, it had same issues and worse. After returning vehicle the Tech stated the truck had other issues (low coolant and a cracked radiator). I feel I paid for unwarranted repairs. After much wrangling the manager agreed to put back in the original parts they had replaced and credit me back my payment. After leaving the vehicle with them again was told the next day the owner reneged on the manager's offer to do something and they would not refund my money nor take any action. Upon entering, the waiting area is lovely. Very welcoming and comfortable. I heard one of the employees mention this location has been open 9 months. There's free WiFi and coffee available. There's also a small counter area for those wanting to do a little desk work while they wait for their vehicles. The employees seem friendly enough. I was acknowledged by all that came in. Overall a very positive first experience with Honest-1 Auto Care. I knew I needed some brake work done and had them check my brakes because my car would shake a bit when I stopped. After they gave me their recommendation and quote I checked with other auto repair shops close by. Honest-1 was a little bit higher on cost but they offer a 36 month / 36,000 mile warranty with the work they do. Plus, I felt they were not your run of the mill repair shop trying to make a quick buck but instead was a local shop that was truly "Honest" and who wanted to earn a long-term customer. I had them install pads and rotors on both the front and rear. They brought me home and picked me up when my car was done. It took about 2 hours and my brakes feel as good as new. Came in with an issue with my steering/suspension. Paid to get it looked at/see exactly what it was. They tried to sell me rear brakes and rotors when I told them that wasn't a concern to me right now just the loud grinding noise when steering. They said my car was fine and it had no problems. On 9/13/23 we had a company truck towed to this facility after breaking down. Repairs were done; but, unfortunately, 7 days later, on 9/20/23, the truck broke down and we again had it towed to Honest-1 where it was discovered the first repair was faulty; they took care of that based on their guarantee. However, they refused to take care of the tow bill, replying only "we don't take care of towing," despite the fact the tow was necessary only because their previous repair was faulty. Also, in spite of their "complimentary" digital vehicle inspection (DVI) supposedly done at another visit on 8/4/23 and which covers, among other things, belts, hoses, battery life remaining, etc. the 9/13/23 service noted "battery terminals corroded, loose, or damaged." The DVI was worthless if it failed to uncover corroded, loose or damaged battery terminals. As a small business owner myself, I like doing business with other small businesses; however, I will not be doing further business with this company, Unfortunately, Honest-1 did not live up to its name in my situation. read more

I bought a 2004 BMW Z4. The car has less than 26,000 miles on it. What I wanted: A reputable local mechanic who I could trust to do quality work on my car. I wanted to flush and replace the coolant, change the oil and oil filter and possibly change the transmission fluid. What I got: A Jiffy Lube franchise with a different name and a sales pitch for snake oil. It all started off ok: I found Honest 1 through repairpal.com. I was able to schedule an appointment to have all of the requested services done the very next day at 9:30am. I showed up at about 9:25am and was greeted by a polite young man. At 12:08pm (2 1/2 hours later) I got a call. The car is in great shape. Everything looks good. He is going to send me an estimate. BEGIN SNAKE OIL SALE - "Have you heard of BG Products?" No. No I have not. At 12:47pm I got the first email. It talked about the wonderful aspects of BG Products and the warranty I would get if I used them in my car and included a detailed estimate. My bovine fecal matter detector is tuned to alert my gut anytime someone starts selling me snake oil. I did some quick google checks and found mixed reviews, product ads, forum discussions, etc. What I didn't find was anything from a private lab who could tell me BG Products additives were actually going to do anything for my engine. The scam: I don't know if BG Products work. What I do know is this. If you want this "warranty" from BG Products... you need to use and keep using their products. The "scam" to the warranty, in my opinion, is in the law of averages. BG Products is betting on an assessment by the mechanic, the miles on your odometer and the fact that most modern engines last if properly maintained. Combine that with some legal double speak and a few lawyers and you have a "warranty". I called the service advisor and went over the estimate: ** 1 ** BG Fuel/Air Induction Service - $184.95 ** 2 ** BG Brake Fluid Exchange - $89.95 ** 3 **BG Power Steering Fluid Exchange - Gold - $114.95 ** 4 ** BG Coolant Exchange - $129.95 ** 5 ** BG Differential Fluid Exchange - $124.95 I started by asking if I could get an estimate for the oil change I wanted to begin with. $119.53. I checked with the local BMW dealer...they quoted $95.99. I asked if I needed any of the services recommended in the estimate and he admitted everything in the car looked good and the services recommended were only optional items which could extend the life of the car and add the "BG Products warranty". I then dropped a question he clearly didn't expect. "Did you get any codes when you read the computer on the OBD II port?" He asked me to repeat myself. I did. He then said, "Nope". His voice trailed off and the pitch changed and I knew he was lying. I knew for two reasons. One, I am pretty darn good at reading people and picking out lies. Two, I read the computer the night before and it had a fault (P0461 Fuel Level Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance). I didn't clear the code and there are no dash lights to warn you there is a fault. The easy answer would have been, "Let me check with the tech. They don't usually run a diagnostic on the computer if there are no concerns or dash lights." I would have still thought it was silly they didn't check, but I wouldn't have thought he was lying to me. After that I was done. I needed to get the oil changed because I didn't know when it was last done and I wanted to protect the engine. I told him to hold off on the BG additives since I wanted to do my due diligence before adding stuff to the engine. I requested the oil be changed and told him my wife would come get the car when it was done. Overall they were polite, clean and friendly. Good news BMW... you will probably see me soon for some service. After all I still have that code popping up when I scan the computer and who knows what junk oil "Honest 1" did or didn't put in my car. How can I trust them? read more

My daughter's engine blew on I-77. Our tow company suggested Honest 1 and that is where we had them take her vehicle. This was a tough situation - a car that wasn't worth much and us trying to figure out whether or not it was worth fixing, how to handle getting it if we didn't, very stressful. Updated review on response to what the "owner" commented on. The issue wasn't simply an A/C issue because it happens with the heat in the winter time. Which is why i wanted to make sure they understood the issue and were actually listening to me when I was explaining the issue. I know a good deal about cars and for the freon (something that cools the car) to need to be drained because of no uniform heat in the winter and no uniform air in the summer makes no sense! The air was already ice cold in the rear and the passenger side. Performing steps to only address the air and not the entire system is another way to milk customers for money. read more

I feel bad leaving the first 1 star review, but I do feel it's important to share what we experienced so others can save money & avoid potential frustration, as well as help the company improve moving forward. Please excuse the length as I try to walk you through the situation. I drive a 2012 Chevy Volt (drives electric for ~30 miles then switches over to gas). For few months now, my car has been making a noticeable clicking sound whenever I slow down and turn right. It didn't seem to affect the car so I didn't do anything about it, even though the sound concerned my wife. Admittedly, I know very little about cars. Last week when my engine light came on, I called up Honest1 because I saw all of the positive reviews, and they said they'd check it out for me. When I arrived, I noticed their clean waiting room with the company's values posted everywhere. It made me feel like I had made the right decision. I explained to the employee at the desk that I would like to resolve my check engine light and fix the clicking sound that occurs every time I turn to the right while braking. They did not ask me to reproduce it or go into detail. He said they'd check it out. After I saw two tech's take my car for a spin, another gentleman came out and told me that they would need to run a 30 min diagnostic (~$50) to further investigate the check engine light, but that the clicking sound was caused by a cracked joint in the sway bars. I asked them to go ahead and do the diagnostic and price out the replacement for the sway bars. 30 minutes later the same gentleman returned, explaining to me that I needed to replace the main temperature sensor to the engine (~$300) and to replace the sway bars would be (~$300). I repeated back to him to confirm that if I replaced the sway bars, that the clicking sound would be resolved. He confirmed that to be true, then explained what could happen if we didn't fix the main temperature sensor. Even though ~$600 felt a little pricey, since he confirmed that both issues would be resolved and I saw a 100% satisfaction guarantee on the wall, I agreed for them to move forward. The gentleman that explained the job to me offered to take me to my home while the car was worked on. That was a plus. I received a call that it was finished 2 hours later. I went in, paid for the transaction, and received a special 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty on the transaction. My wife picked up the car a few hours later and drove it home. She told me that even though the check engine light was resolved, the clicking sound was still there. I took the car around my neighborhood the next morning only to confirm that the clicking sound was definitely still there. Incredibly frustrated that we had just spent ~$300 to fix an issue that wasn't resolved, I took my phone out and recorded a video of the sound. My wife and I drove the car back to the shop with the 3 yr, 36,000 mile warranty in hand, and showed the video to both gentleman that the sound was still evident. I had to leave for a business trip, so I left the car in their hands, hoping that it would be resolved. An hour later I receive a call from them telling me that although the sway bars "contributed" to the clicking sound, they were not the source. They said upon further investigation, it actually had to do with the axel on the left side of my car and that it would be another ~$600 to fix the issue (after a $75 deduction for the "inconvenience"). They explained that I didn't need to replace the sway bars and that the first gentleman shouldn't have said that this would have resolved the sound. So I asked him if he could guarantee that replacing the axel would fix the sound. He said yes. Bothered that I was now being asked to pay twice as much as I did before to fix an issue that I was told would be resolved the day before, I asked to think about it and call him back. After investing $300 based on the first employee's word that it would be resolved, I didn't feel like I could trust the 2nd employee's guarantee that the $600 fix would resolve the clicking sound. I mentioned it to my wife and she wanted to hear what happened, so I asked them to call her and explain the situation. After talking with my wife, they said they'd knock another $25 off. I called back and explained that we would not be moving forward with the transaction for the reason that we could no longer trust Honest1 could deliver on their commitment. I shared that this could have been avoided if 1.) I had been asked in the beginning to recreate the sound that I was referring to ensure that the $300 I was investing was fixing the right problem or 2.) told that this may not fix the issue. Even though the employees tried to offer a free alignment, we shared that we were going to search for a company that we could trust that could deliver on their commitment. When I picked up my car, they apologized again, re-offered the alignment, and more "potential savings." I thanked them and left. read more
