I recently returned to Fort Mill Ford for an oil change after previously deciding not to use their service department again. Unfortunately, this visit reinforced my concerns. During the appointment, I was informed of several "critical" issues and presented with an estimated repair cost of around $950. A previous visit resulted in a similar experience with a bill of about $1,450. When I asked to see the parts that were supposedly replaced or failing, nothing was available for review. I also found it surprising to be told that certain components--such as O‑rings--were leaking at only 50,000 miles, especially since these are generally expected to last significantly longer under normal conditions. I'm sharing my experience so others can make informed decisions. Based on multiple visits with similar outcomes, I personally do not feel confident returning for future service or sales. read more

This will be a two (2) part review: First Review - Fort Mill Ford I purchased a 2017 Lincoln MKC SUV with 49K miles from Fort Mill Ford. The car was a very nice car and filled my needs nicely. About 65K the check engine light appeared that would not disappear with standard maintenance. I had a local mechanic assess the problem and was advised that I needed a new engine. I checked with several Ford dealers close to were I lived with no interest from any I approached. I returned to Fort Mill Ford and they looked at my problem and confirmed that the engine was in need of replacement. Fort Mill Ford had an engine specialist that was not available through other dealers. The motor replacement cost was $5000. The good people at Fort Mill Ford worked with me and Ford Motor Company to provide a 50/50 split for the engine replacement. This was greatly appreciated and was largely due to the customer service work done by Fort Mill Ford directly with Ford Corporate. I took time to message the Ford CEO to say thanks. Ford corporate provided me with a three (3) year warranty that has replaced my $2500 motor match many times over. This car has been troublesome but Fort Mill Ford has helped me with all of my requests. The latest service was to replace the transmission @ $7100. Second Review - Fort Mill Service I was very pleased and fortunate to have worked with Deforrest McCombs, (Service Advisor). Deforrest was more than helpful and even took a test drive at work completion to make sure the car was functioning properly. This is a young man that is an asset to both Fort Mill Ford and the Ford Motor Company. I owned and was president and CEO for a company that worked with automotive production for many years. If I was still running the previously mentioned business I would be hard pressed not to steal Deforrest from Ford. No worries, I am not interested in coming out of retirement. The work ethic and personality of Deforrest will take him far. Conclusion: I have had some trying times with my Lincoln but have been very pleased with both Fort Mill Ford and the Ford Motor Company. I've never experienced customer service this poor. I bought a 2024 Bronco that has repeated electrical and power issues. After three service visits at Fort Mill Ford, the vehicle is still not fixed and is unsafe to drive. Here's the timeline. 11/4: Vehicle completed its third repair. The same day, the Bronco continued throwing powertrain system failure warnings. I left messages that day reporting the issue. 11/5 ~7:55 AM: I spoke with Deforrest McCombs. He said he would get my vehicle "in the queue," talk with the service manager, and call me back by 1 PM. No call back. 11/5 ~3:30 PM: I called again. Deforrest told me there was no loaner available. Meanwhile, my lights shut off while driving, windows stop working, the turbo audibly drops out, and my Ford app shows 130+ error messages for powertrain system failure. He said I'd be "at the top of the queue" for a loaner. 11/7 ~9:30 AM: I called and asked for a call back from Deforrest. I also left a message with another service rep asking for the RO# from my first repair. No one ever called me back. Today (11/22): I still haven't heard a word. The vehicle is not safe to operate, and I've received zero follow-up from service. After three visits and multiple calls, I'm left with a Bronco that still fails on the road and a service department that doesn't return calls, doesn't provide a loaner, and doesn't provide basic documentation when requested. Being told I'm "at the top of the queue" means nothing when weeks pass without any contact. This has become a safety issue and a customer service failure. I expected better communication, a loaner for an unsafe vehicle, and a proactive plan to resolve a persistent defect. Instead, I've gotten silence. read more

I asked him the hours, he confirmed they would be open to 8p. Told him we would arrive between 630-7p as the dealership is 45 minutes away. We got here at 630p. Doors locked. No one on site. Then they want to charge you an extra 3% if you use your credit card - like their hourly mechanic rate isn't high enough. Never using them again - I would rather drive to Charlotte for reliable dealer work. Also they tried to sell my daughter a whole new headlight assembly for $3200 on a 2020 Explorer with 60k miles. This was hands down the worst experience I've ever had at a car dealership. As a woman, I already expect to be treated differently (which is unacceptable), but this was on another level of disrespect. We made it crystal clear that we were just starting our search for an SUV and weren't ready to make a deal that day. The initial rep was great--eager but respectful. Then the sales manager showed up and ruined everything. He greeted my husband with a warm welcome while barely acknowledging me, even though I was closer. After aggressively stating he wouldn't be able to get close to the numbers we countered with, I explained how we came to our offer based on thorough research, he blatantly ignored me, staring only at my husband the entire time I was speaking. He then aggressively berated us, accusing us of "wasting their time," questioning why we were even there, and telling us to go to the other dealership if they had a better price. His tone was hostile and condescending--he made it abundantly clear that he didn't want to deal with me. At this point, my husband said he was ready to just walk out. When I finally said we'd just go to the other dealership, he completely changed his tune and started apologizing, realizing we weren't planning to buy that day. It was pathetic and insincere. This place is toxic and clearly has zero respect for women or people that are doing their research and aren't ready to buy. My husband was in disbelief and said he'd always heard horror stories about dealing with car salespeople but never thought we'd experience it firsthand--especially since we've always had positive experiences in the past (even during our current research). He said this was worse than anything he could have imagined. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere that treats you like a human being. read more

I am completely disgusted with Fort Mill Ford. It took 6 weeks to have my car repaired. During that time I had to initiate the majority of the communication, I had to chase down the service writer too and after 3 weeks of waiting to understand when it would be fixed I personally had to engage the warranty company which once I called them resolved the issue within 24 hours, but then I still had to wait another 3 weeks for the repair to be done. No offers for alternative transportation were made by Fort Mill Ford. And finally, the warranty that they sold me when I purchased the car from them didn't cover them entirety of the cost and so I personally I spent a fortune for the repairs to find the car dirty and not topped off when I got it back. I will be actively denigrating Fort Mill Ford online and in person to dissuade customers from going there, either for sales or services. read more

I have been purchasing vehicles from FMF for over a decade. I have probably purchase 8 or 10 cars here, between new cars for my wife and I, and used cars for my kids. When I first started purchasing vehicles there in around 08', the service and experience was great. Great, helpful salesmen and management made for fun and easy purchasing experience. The problems started a few years ago when we went to get a new car for my wife, the salesman acted as though we were inconveniencing him by trying to lease a new car from him. We finally got tired of his attitude and went to Burns Chevrolet and got a new Traverse. Two years later when the lease was up, we decided to give FMF another chance, and we got a new Edge. This experience was completely different from the previous one; easy, fun, and quick. I have since tried to give them business on a new F150 for myself, and a used truck for my son, and both times the experience was absolutely terrible. Like pulling teeth to get them to show us a vehicle. This last time the salesman was just incredibly rude, actually referred to my daughter as a "pain in the ass" to anther salesman loud enough that she was able to hear him. I have given FMF more than one chance to correct their customer service issues, but after this last time (insulting my daughter), I would rather ride a bike everywhere than give them any more of my money. I don't normally write reviews like this but apparently this is the only way to get someone to respond? I've had a black screen in my daughters vehicle for more than a year. First the part was on back order. Then the part couldn't be programmed and wasn't given a definitive timeline of when that would be ready. Then I call a few times a month to try and get ANYONE to call me back. So far, the lovely people at the call center are doing what they can but NO ONE at the store has called me back. I left a message yesterday with the general manager and not a single call. I've even tried to have Ford reach out and help me but no such luck. I'm sure by this time the costs will fall on me at this point after waiting for so long to get back to me. Corporations cutting "fat" to present data that shows growth is just taking away from processes that make businesses run more efficiently. I lived and witnessed this myself and know this is what the root cause of issues are in their service department. Pretending to make money to appease a few while the bulk of your customers and employees carry the burden. I recommend driving farther out to another dealership for ford work and a locally owned business for other services. This place will only stress you out for no reason. read more

Just bought a car from Fort Mill Ford today after shopping for more then a month. I tried purchasing cars from Carvana, Car Max, and the folks at Hendrick Lexus Charlotte with no luck. I know times aren't normal , but you'd think a car dealership would want to sell you a car. Well after bad experiences with those others I was finally able to get great customer service and a very good price working with William Kennedy. He did an amazing job, was very considerate, and had everything waiting for me to go at the dealership with paper work, financing (at a great rate) from their credit union partners. Their TV commercials and web site advertisements about complimentary service pick up if you live within 15 miles is a SCAM and don't exist. They have contractors that answer that phone number and they do not have any available dates available for many months out that exists. Looks good on their site and sounds good on TV commercials but try and use it you will see what I mean. I tried this for 3-days now and always told a service advisory would call me back the next day, but they never do. Sonic contractors are a joke, they answer from home with kids crying and dogs barking in the background and all they can say is I don't know, I don't know, I don't know but someone can call you back but again they never do! After 4-days of trying on the phone I drove there and walked into service dept. People yelling and arguing, employees stressed out and even then, they could not give me a price before work is done, too much drama with this dealership, I walked out. Called Rock Hill Ford for the first time, they actually answer their phone, gave me an exact price of what the work will cost and scheduled me for tomorrow morning. I've seen mixed reviews and decided to give them a shot after determining if seems to be all about who you saw. I walked in with my wife without any appointment and a list of 4 cars we wanted to see. The front desk welcomed us, took our names and asked for a moment to find someone. Looking around at many employees sitting on their phones in lounge chairs was discouraging at first, but also made it easy to pick out the person wanting to help. Enter William. He was already on his way over when he heard us say walk in. William was excellent. My wife gave him the list of cars she made (stock numbers included) and he took us right outside. He opened each car for us and read us the information from the Carfax on his iPad. He willingly showed us two extra cars we saw on the lot and didn't pressure us at all. He was leisurely and chatty, friendly. Of the 6 was saw, we took the one we liked the best for a ride and he came along. Generally, test drives with sales people are awkward, but he was comfortable and talked mostly about life and current events. Back at the dealership we couldn't decide on the spot so he gave my wife his cell phone number and said call or text him if we decide we want it. Ultimately we bought the car and William took care of the process himself. Took about an hour and we asked him to send the car for a thorough detail before we would pick it up the next day. It was sitting out front, plates on it, when we went to get it. Awesome. Know this: Each car has two protections built into the sale. $149 for 5 year $5k theft protection. If you car is stolen and not recovered in 30 days, they give you $5k. $495 for an interior coating and protection. They treat all of the interiors cloth with a compound to protect it. The warranty on it replaces worn out or damaged fabrics in the car on them. Aside from that, it's your typical title, taxes and tags. I wouldn't avoid this dealership, but I would snag a sales person that's moving around and noticing people walking versus those sitting around lounging on their phones so all you see is the top of their head..... read more

*** Believe the BBB reviews I would not recommend buying a car from this place*** I purchased a used SUV in Sept 2023 from this location. From the start, I had nothing but issues. They gave me a complete run around for several weeks. Once I was able to finally lock down the SUV and I drove it 2 days the SUV started making sounds. I reached out to the dealership. They asked to me bring the SUV in they looked over it, drove it around, and told me it was normal for these types of SUV to make that kind of sound. I didn't know I didn't know anything about cars. Less than 5 months after this almost $30,000 purchase the transmission goes out on the SUV. Which cost another $6000.00 to fix. When the car was checked I was told that the transmission fluid was very very low and burnt old fluid. I reached out to one of the managers at the dealership who told me that he would check into this and give me a call back. I reached out day after day calling and sending emails. Finally, after popping up at the dealership a week later, I asked to talk to the GM. When talking to the GM he immediately went to looking for rebates and seeing what the manufactory could do instead of taking ownership of the issue. Eventually telling me that because I had put 15000 highways a year's worth of miles on the SUV in 5 months there was nothing that could be done. Explaining to me that there is no warranty that would have covered this issue due to the miles on the SUV. He also told me that when the issue happened, I should have got the car to them and let them check it but it's still not a guarantee that they could have done anything per his remarks after I wanted a week for them to get back to me. When I first looked at the SUV, I explained to the sales rep I travel a whole lot. When the transmission went out in the SUV it was still under 100,000 miles. If you are looking for a reliable Car I would NOT!!!! purchase anything from here again you do what you want but believe the BBB review they are very true to their word. This location is HORRIBLE!! NEVER COME HERE!!! My car has now been here for three weeks. They never returned my calls or kept me updated about my car. Every time I finally got someone on the phone they either couldn't find my car in the system or they were not aware of my car just sitting there for weeks on end. After many lies told to me that the manager would get back to me, I finally got a call saying that my car was ready to get picked up. Turns out they didn't even fix the issue that my car was there for in the first place. I had to wait another hour for them to fix what they had supposedly fixed over these last three weeks.... Keep in mind, the recall was originally supposed to take a few days.... After everything was said and done, we asked to speak to a manager because this was absolutely ridiculous and he was nowhere to be seen. .... It is completely ridiculous that I had to spend this much money on a rental car for these last three weeks because I didn't have a car to get me to and from work, and that I had to waste my time and stress on the phone calls and in person at the dealership... hopefully the manager will finally call me but with everything that's happened, I doubt that's going to happen... read more

One particular service advisors at the front entrance is absolutely terrible. Bad attitude and absolutely no common sense. Tried to have my F150 service for 19N06 (door latch freezes open and the door will not latch). Had this happen last week and told her I needed to schedule an appointment for this. She then goes into this long explanation that they can not do this unless I leave the truck with them so that they can verify that the door latch will freeze and not latch. Told her this happen once in 3 years last week after it had been raining and temperatures were in the 20's and how was I to schedule an appointment when I have no idea on when it would be raining again with temperatures in the 20's. She basically told me unless they could verify it they couldn't perform 19N06. Called Burns Ford, talked with a very nice lady and I now have an appointment to get this repaired. I purchased a used vehicle from Fort Mill Ford and the experience was exactly as the 2 star rating reads....MEH. I don't have my thesaurus handy, but lukewarm would describe it. I drove up one evening and met Adrian at the front desk and told him I had my eye on a specific car on their lot. I was trading in my 9.5 yr old van and wanted a test drive. He responded well and had everything ready for my return. No issues with that part of the process. The car buying process, after that was a little unsettling. Maybe I'm just used to the way car buying was "back in the day". Now? They couldn't care less if you want to buy the car or not. No negotiation, no niceties, everything is one sided (Their side) and they don't care about you one iota. Adrian basically came back with a low ball offer on my van (He was just the messenger and was nice about it). It was $1,000 less than I was offered somewhere else. I told them about my other offer and they agreed to match it. After a few text messages back and forth I was basically told the price was the price and "The Manager" said they weren't going to do anything for me on the price. I get it, staunch negotiating and all, but this is a customer oriented business and other than dealing with a salesman over texts it could have been handled a bit differently. I also pointed out there were 2 recalls on the vehicle....and was basically told that "Recalls are free to fix" take it to the OEM dealer. Pretty much "Go get your shinebox, Junior" After I picked up the car I had another call / text message with a weird message that they needed the offer on my trade in from the other dealer. Obviously someone didn't do what they were supposed to when I gave it to them the first time. Sending it to them wasn't a problem, but the way it was handled could've been done differently. In the end. I got the car, but I didn't leave Fort Mill Ford with a good feeling. It was very impersonal which in all my years, I have never felt that way when walking out of a dealership after buying a car. It's a large purchase and it shouldn't be treated as if it was a quick transaction. Ford dealership in fort mill sc. Went in to look at a vehicle. It drove very well except for a knocking sound. Come to find out it needed a repair. When I asked about the price they stated that there was an additional $500 fee for a leather protection plan that was not listed in the price as well as another hidden fee of $150. After my dismay at these hidden fees, we eventually came to an agreement on price, they checked my credit, and we agreed to a price on my trade. All we had to do was wait for the repair to be finished so the deal could be closed. As the car was in for repair, I got a call from the sales rep. He said that someone came in while the car was in the shop and made an offer without even looking at the car and that they would be selling it to them. I find these business practices to be quite shady in general. I do not recommend buying a car from here. read more

I don't like new car dealers and have always had bad experiences and usually left feeling like I had been taken advantage of. Not so with my experience at Fort Mill Ford. Our sales person, Ashley, greeted me promptly and devoted her time to answering all my questions. She arranged a quick test drive and sold the truck on the drive. This location is horrible. I scheduled an appointment for my 2015 Mustang for a pick up several days in advance. The day of the appointment no one arrived. When I called to check the status I was told I would be given a call back, an hour later no follow up. I called back and spoke to several people only to be told the person who needed to perform my service was out for a week. Everyone was rude, no empathy, no accountability, just downright rude and unacceptable behavior from service staff and management. I also called Sonic Automotive to complain.
