I purchased a 5 year battery (3 year replacement warranty) 14 months ago. The battery would not hold a charge so I jump started my vehicle and went to the AutoZone on Hwy 160. My client experience started badly and got worse with every conversation I had with (3) different employees. 1) I went to the counter with my original receipt that clearly documented the warranty and the date of purchase showing the battery was within the 3 year full replacement window. The young lady's reply was we don't do 5yr warranty anymore and not sure your battery is covered under warranty. Clearly she was not paying attention or using common sense as my battery was 14 months old but covered for 36 months. Simple math! 2) They said they have to test the battery so a young man gathered his battery test gear and followed me to my vehicle. I was filling him in on the fact that the battery has failed me 3 times in the last 2 weeks after being charged. It would start right after charging but 3 days later it would not start the vehicle. He said it was the starter. I said it starts fine. He said it could be the alternator and I agreed but reiterated the alternator was charging the battery. He tested the battery after discounting it from my vehicle and said the battery tested "good". I challenged him on the result and he told me that I was lucky he was even helping me by testing my battery because testing and removing/replacing batteries was not in his job description. My jaw dropped and could not believe he said that out loud to a customer. 3) He finally said that he really needed to charge the battery then test it. By then, I had zero confidence in their ability to help me. I asked them to reconnect my battery and jump start my vehicle. End result I took my vehicle to Christian Brothers down the street on 160. They tested the battery and it failed. Only 224 CCA and the battery was rated at 800 CCA. They installed a new battery and all is good. I took the bad battery back to Autozone and produced the test results. To their credit, they did not argue with me this time and issued a full refund. My advice to Autozone is hire people who know how to do their job, have common sense, have basic understanding of how to handle customer issues and most of all, stop telling me what you can't do and tell me what you can do. Went in to have my check engine light looked at and when I turned to walk outside and have the employee follow me and told me to stop I had to do it myself due to COVID. Ok no problem, then his remark was "you have to do it, since COVID everyone thinks their entitled" meanwhile the employee that is "worried" and following the rules of not going out to my car due to COVID for his "safety" is not wearing a mask or social distancing. every time i come in there, they are so dismissive and rude. im standing in line to be serviced next and the employee on duty asked the men behind me if they needed anything first. i've been in fort mill over ten years and every time i have to go in there i leave angry and not helped. no one is ever able to be kind me. i go any other autozone and they are always extremely helpful even if they're not so nice about it. read more

I went to AutoZone as one of the auto shops in the area did not have a part I needed. I was assisted by a store associate. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Mr. Ken assisted me with the battery replacement. A wait was short and didn't bother me at all as I overheard that they only allowed one associate to come outside at any given time. I would say with the whole process, he didn't get everything done probably faster than the auto shop with less money as well. These guys are awesome! They gave me a free test on my battery to see how it was doing. They said it needed to be charged fully. A friend of mine tested my battery and said it was about dead, and I needed A new one. We took the battery back to AutoZone and they kept it overnight and found that it would not take a charge. So I guess that means a new battery for me. But I really appreciated their service because if the battery could have been charged, that would've save me the whole hassle of dealing with getting my battery replaced. I don't work on my cars much but I do simple things like wipers and usually get my car batteries here. We bought a Duralast for our Honda Odyssey about 3 years ago and within about 18 months it died. They replaced it with a new battery and prorated most of the cost which I thought was reasonable but I was disappointed that the battery died so quickly. Flash forward 15 months and this new battery is now dead. So why the 5 star rating? After jumping the car and driving to my mechanic's shop I had the battery replaced there with an Interstate battery and took the old battery back to AutoZone, and even though it was beyond the 1 year replacement warranty they gave me a full refund with no hassle. The manager provided great customer service and turned what was a disappointing experience into a positive one. I probably won't buy another battery there but I will continue to use them for my other DIY items. read more

I was selling my car when the battery decided to die on me. I knew Auto Zone can test and install batteries, so I thought it would be a good option to cut time. It took at least five minutes for anyone to even come out of the back room to help up and the gentleman had a rude attitude and was rushing us the whole time. He told me the only battery that would fit my Honda Accord was the top of the line battery when I could clearly see other batteries with the same fit. I did not feel like I was getting quality service so I told him I would go someplace else for the battery and ask if he could help me get it started again. He walked to the back of the building and came back 5 mins later with the jump start equipment. After about a minute, he said that it wasn't going to work and he would have to get someone to jump start it with his or her car and then proceeded to help another customer. I had to ask someone in the parking lot to help me push the car to a parking space and jump start the car. Long story short, I will not be going back to AutoZone and the Walmart down the road was more than half the price and the service was better. read more
