For foodies up north looking for Taiwanese street food, Formosa Bakery and Take-Out Kitchen is certainly worth a try. They probably have the most varieties of Taiwanese street food in town, including fried bread stick, egg pancake, sticky rice with meat and mushroom, pork sung and onion green bread, buns, dumplings, sesame cold noodles, black bean sauce noodles, beef noodle soup, braised pork over rice, roast pork belly over rice, and much more. They even make Taiwan style cakes, another rarity. Not a fan of Taiwanese street food? They also have a full slate of American Chinese foods. Here are their crispy pancake with BBQ pork, onion green bun, taro fruit cake and chocolate fruit cake.

This is my favorite spot for Asian food in Boulder. How is it not viral yet?! Nancy is the best. She cooks everything from scratch with fresh ingredients daily, and always tells me a little story. The food tastes fresh and does not leave me feeling crappy like other spots. It shows... the food is wonderfully flavorful and crunchy and yummy!!! Our favorites are: sesame mochi balls, sesame chicken, pancake roll, and dumpling soup. You truly can't go wrong, and you can always ask Nancy to make you something based off what she has. It's also suuuper affordable. Support this local biz and tell your friends! Don't sleep on the pastries too!! They're so delicious :)

    Crispy Pancake Wrap with Pork

This place is such a gem!!! I am so happy my husband and I found it. I love Taiwanese street food, and Formosa Bakery is one of my favorite places to get it in Boulder. The owner is very welcoming and kind. The menu has a variety of dishes, from noodles and dumplings to rice bowls and buns. Everything is made fresh and with quality ingredients. The bakery items remind me of my childhood. We had the pineapple bun, custard bun, and custard tarts. The most authentic Taiwanese bakery in Colorado. They also make Taiwanese cakes (order 24-48 hours in advance because the owner gets all the freshest local produce per cake). We will definitely be ordering a cake next time! My go-to menu is the Taiwanese Street Food section. I also like the scallion pancakes, which are crispy and flaky, and the pork buns, which are soft and juicy. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. I always feel satisfied and happy. If you are looking for a taste of Taiwan in Boulder, I highly recommend Formosa Bakery. It is a great place to enjoy authentic and delicious Taiwanese food.

Green onion and pork floss bun

SO GOOD! The most delicious dim sum and Taiwanese dishes all handmade by the kindest owner- Nancy. Formosa is now our favorite takeout in Boulder and I would highly recommend to anyone and everyone! Here are some dishes we loved: - green onion and pork floss bun - egg tarts - sesame balls - pork and chive dumplings: THE BEST!!! - roast pork over rice - mapo tofu

New restaurant in Boulder. Has some Authentic Taiwanese dishes - oyster pancake and Lu rou fan. Ran by a nice lady that is passionate about her little business. Also has homemade pastries. She was so kind to give us 3 free pastries because it was our first time there. Food is authentic and has homemade taste. Not your typical American Chinese food. Highly recommend!

The milk tea and the taro milk shake are the best I had in town - they don't taste artificial at all, the tea and milk really blend in perfectly. Also strongly recommend the green tea taro roll, it's just fantastic :))) The entree braised pork and appetizer oyster pancake are very tasty as well, lots of fresh oysters

    Pineapple cake !! Highly recommend

We couldn't find the place in the beginning, but the owner was nice and helped us find the place. Food was yummy and the place was clean! If you are looking for Taiwanese food, highly recommended " Formosa" FYI, call for order!

It is my go to place for Authentic Asian Food delivery. The Taro Filled Matcha cake is the best I've ever had. The braised pork feet is a pop up dish I got when I pick up the food, so yummy. I'm so lucky since it's rare to see this dish here. Highly recommend!

Formosa is a great addition to Boulder / The Hill's food scene. Formosa provides traditional Chinese and Taiwanese cuisine in an area that is thoroughly lacking it. The owner / chef was kind and attentive while I was there, and even more impressive was that she was running the entire place by herself. Supporting this new restaurant was a bonus on top of the great food provided here. The clear standout in my eyes at Formosa was the Dim Sum. The Siu Mai, Egg Tarts, and Chinese Pancake were absolutely delicious! Since moving away from Boston I haven't been able to find good Dim Sum until I went to Formosa. I plan to make Formosa my staple when in the mood for Dim Sum from here on out. The Beef Noodle Soup and Pork Belly over rice were good dishes, but not as memorable as the Dim Sum. These dishes were flavorful and well crafted, but I think I would have preferred more Dim Sum / Taiwanese Street Food in their place. The photos of the Taiwanese cakes look pretty incredible, but as the menu states you need to give at least 48hr advance request for them. I'm looking forward to exploring more of what this menu / restaurant has to offer.

The baked goods are fantastic. The custard tart is to die for. They use no artificial colors in their baking. Will definitely be back.

The difficulties with are in my previous reviews. Now much of the facility has been torn down and the ongoing construction of the space to be city staff offices and the bigger space to be affordable housing had become impractical to use or eat at the restaurant. The noise was deafening. In January they moved to a food court on the Hill. This is a lower level of a building with other tenants. There are about 6 food kitchens and each time I have been here this summer and fall, this is the busiest at lunch. Since the seating is communal there is always space and it is clean. The staff here have been really nice. If I'm preparing a meal at home or supplementing leftovers, I have stopped by to get a fave vegetable, baby bok choy, steamed and seasoned and at an affordable side dish price. Today my husband and I walked down for lunch and ordered the Tuesday special street crepes some of the owners have continued from the long gone first owners from Beijing. As with other succeeding owners, they too have continued to use lettuce rather than the bok choy in the crepe. It also has some ham, scallions and crispy wonton bits and a nice spread of hoisin. It is topped with a sprinkle of black sesame seeds that I love. Another difference from the original is that the ingredients of the crepe itself are not well mixed together so many large patches of separate egg white and yolk makes it harder to hold together and not as pretty. But it tastes just fine but original years ago was addicting. I will continue to come here try more of the food from the current owner. I love beef noodles and have 2 other places I can get a good version but this is the most walkable for me. They do very nice prep for takeout which is good too. At lunch it is busy with CU affiliated students, staff and faculty alike. Every item I have had at Flower Pepper is hand made and prepared for the customer.
