I would highly recommend the vegetable or pork buns- super soft with flavorful fillings!!! If my review was based only on the food, I would give Formosa five stars. I ordered the orange chicken which was freshly made and tasted really good. However, the service was not the best. I ordered pickup online and my food was supposed to be ready in 15 minutes. I showed up to pickup my food 20 minutes later and was ignored for probably 10 minutes. I was then given the wrong order. I pointed out the mistake and then waited for almost another 20 minutes before finally receiving my food. The woman who was working was quite kind and the food tasted great, but if you need to get your food within a short time limit, then Formosa would not be my first recommendation. read more

First time here, and the food was absolutely wonderful. Nancy was very kind and made sure we had everything we needed. We tried the Beef Noodle Soup with fresh ramen noodles. Immediately asked for a 2nd order to take home. The Siu Mai dumplings were tender and delicious. Also, had to try Sesame cold noodles and chicken buns, which didn't disappoint. Formosa is a very old name for Taiwan, so when I saw a place named this, my hopes went up for Boulder's honestly lackluster Asian food scene. The owner is super friendly, but the food is what makes this place amazing. It tastes like home to me. My mom and grandmother are Taiwanese and this place really tastes like homestyle cooking. The dumplings were so well flavored and what a great beef noodle soup. If you know Taiwanese food, you know that beef noodle soup is an absolute staple. My personal favorite noodles are Jajiangmien, and Formosa's was amazing. The roll cakes were super soft, not too sweet. Will happily make this place a regular occurrence. Compared to another Taiwanese food staple of Boulder, Zoe Ma Ma, I would say Formosa tastes more traditional to me while Zoe Ma Ma is more modern. So, while I love Zoe Ma Ma, this one truly tastes like home. read more

We've known the owner, Nancy, for many years from her former restaurant and have always enjoyed her cooking. We're delighted she opened Formosa. We know it'll be just as great. As soon as we found out where it is, we stopped by for lunch and Nancy remembered my husband's favorite dish (Moo Goo Gai Pan)! I asked for Basil and Chicken Stir-fry. Even though they're not on the menu, she graciously made them for us. Everything was SO DELICIOUS! Just the way we remember her cooking.
