I love it when Yelp Reviews point out these hidden gems! We pulled off I-65 to get our cheese fix…read moreand were not disappointed! A clean inviting ambience with a simple menu. We started off with an appetizer of Cheese Curds with marinara - hot, crispy and delicious. As if on queue, our Cheesy Mac concoctions arrived, hot and bubbly. There are 4 steps in building your large bowl (I could only finish half of mine!): the base cheese, then meats, then any/all of the 11 add-ins (you can pick all 11!); and lastly up to 5 different sauces augmenting your own personal cheese nirvana. Do it. Now. The locals make you feel right at home with down-home 'bama accents, and engaging service. We are now back on the road, stomach's full, our next meal traveling with us and great memories to share.

However it's really really clean and well kept inside and is decorated well. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Never saw them standing around. They were always finding something to do and it looked like it was just one guy front of house and one in the back during lunch. Good on them! Food was fresh and hot. Definitely made to order. The crust of cheese was super good and the cheese sauce also very solid. Garlic bread was also pretty good. I got a very simple Mac and cheese but I would make a guess that more complex bowls would be super good from here. They have options to add sauces and many other items in or on top of it.

Nothing special. Hamburger steak was a 5-6 oz patty with onions and brown gravy. Fries were crisp and good with the onion gravy. My wife had the open face smoked pork bbq on texas toast with fried okra and potato salad. Everything was good. Probably try the catfish next time. Service was good. Its a sit down and order by waitress place. Pay at the counter when you leave. I think they have renovated and spruced up the place since our last visit.

Wanted to rate this place higher but I just cant after trying the steak and salmon entree dishes…read more The salmon did not taste fresh. The mashed potatoes tasted "boxed" (powder after taste). The green beans were probably the best thing on the plate. The steak was also subpar. It was more of a NY strip and very thin. My friend got it medium rare but it came rare-RARE. We did have to ask that it be sent back to cook a little more because it was uncooked even on the sides. The potato wedges were not cooked thoroughly either. It was raw potato and just not tasty when you are looking for a good and cooked crunch. Staff were friendly, but service was slow because it was busy. I don't think I would try this place again.

While the meal itself was fine, the checkout process left a much worse taste in my mouth than the food did. The Tipping Dilemma The pre-set tip suggestions on the payment tablet were 20%, 25%, and 30%. Frankly, seeing these as the "standard" options is absolutely ludicrous. For a long time, 10%, 15%, and 20% were the normal benchmarks for service. Pushing a 20% minimum for a "decent" meal is a massive overreach. I enjoyed the meal for what it was, but I can't support a business model that tries to normalize 30% tips. We need to get back to a reality where tipping is a voluntary reward for great service, not an aggressive tax on the consumer to cover lack of pay by restaurant owners.

I wanted to try everything on the menu, but finally settled on the Carne Asada burrito. Wow! It was incredible. We've traveled a lot to various parts of California and this burrito was easily as good if not better than any I've had out there (and I didn't have to get on an airplane to get it). It was also very large and quite filling. It came with a Verde sauce that was spicy but not too hot. My wife got the lengua burrito and raved about it, too. This is now going to be a regular stop for us. I can't wait to try some of the other items on the menu, especially some of the breakfast items.
