Wanted to rate this place higher but I just cant after trying the steak and salmon entree dishes. The salmon did not taste fresh. The mashed potatoes tasted "boxed" (powder after taste). The green beans were probably the best thing on the plate. The steak was also subpar. It was more of a NY strip and very thin. My friend got it medium rare but it came rare-RARE. We did have to ask that it be sent back to cook a little more because it was uncooked even on the sides. The potato wedges were not cooked thoroughly either. It was raw potato and just not tasty when you are looking for a good and cooked crunch. Staff were friendly, but service was slow because it was busy. I don't think I would try this place again. read more

The service is great and we were seated immediately on a Saturday night which was surprising. It is a fun vibe for a casual date night. Atmosphere amazing. Service impeccable. Food was great as was the menu and value for what you get outstanding. We had brunch which was just ok. Bartender specializes in old fashions and has several different types of woods for smoking. We will definitely return to try. And look forward to trying the lunch and dinner menu! read more

Great spot for a bite in Cullman. Felt like more of a hangout spot than a restaurant as it's pretty small inside. Atmosphere was very laid back and friendly. Came with a large group and service appeared to be pretty efficient. I ordered the ribeye with mashed potatoes and a side of brussel sprouts. The steak was cooked to my liking, the brussel sprouts were crispy and sweet, and the mashed potatoes were creamy and light. I also ordered an old fashioned which came out very good. Overall, just a great atmosphere and a restaurant worth recognition in the Cullman area. read more

Great service and friendly atmosphere. I went last weekend with four members of my family which included two teenage boys. My sister and I shared a couple of apps and everything was fresh and hot. Our server was excellent and you could really tell how sad she was that she couldn't offer the daily special my brother in law wanted as they didn't have it ready for the lunch crowd. This was our first visit and I have to say, we were impressed. My husband got the special smash burger, it had a fried egg, bacon jam, garlic aioli and came with fries. I had to steal a few fries, they were so good!! I had the shrimp and grits! They were delicious, my only suggestion would be to add a little Cajun sausage in the dish with the shrimp! For dessert we ordered the duchess donut bread pudding! It was just enough for the both of us to share! The service was excellent as well! I have been to The National twice now, and I am officially hooked! When you get there, you're going to want to order bang bang shrimp as an appetizer. Both times I've been I have had the French toast as an entrée and oh my gosh I can't even begin to explain how good it is. It comes with these potatoes that are chopped and crispy, and also bacon on the side. Hands-down best crème brûlée I've ever had. A hidden gem in Cullman! Tried this place for the 1st time today. Had the market fresh Grouper which was amazing and had the salmon dip with homemade chips which was awesome. For dessert, I had bread pudding made from a Duchess Bakery doughnut which was excellent as well. Overall, the food quality was top notch and ranks as the best meal I have ever had in Cullman. It is rare to find a restaurant that consistently exceeds expectations on every course of the meal. The only downside is they have limited seating and the seats could be more comfortable but if you want a 5 star gourmet meal I would highly recommend this place as it is a hidden gem in Cullman. read more

This has become one of the worst restaurants in Cullman. The food and menu is never consistent, I have been given cold food many times here but have never sent it back because the waiters always seem so stressed and have no clue what's going on. We have also been rudely told to leave twice now around 8pm because they decided to close up early despite the hours online and on the door claim to stay open until 10 or 11. I worked in food for 5 years, I understand the industry struggles and always have respect for this line of work. However, being rudely told to leave after you've already been seated is so awkward. The worst part is that the owner yelled from the kitchen "We just threw all the food in the trash y'all will have to go somewhere else, we're closing." Who kicks people out at 8pm on a Saturday night and who throws the food away? What a waste. I've seen the same owner yell at servers in the middle of the restaurant. It's horrible. Very disappointed in how this restaurant has gone so down hill. read more
