On 7/4/26, a staff member was sitting in the cooler handing out water bottles -- 1-2 each -- to select customers, but skipped over us entirely. When we finally got inside, she asked how we were doing. My 80-year-old mother mentioned it was hot, and the employee replied, "Is it that hot since you're out?" -- dismissive, especially right after handing out water to other customers and not us. It felt like the staff cater to a certain type of customer, and we didn't fit that mold. Very disappointing and disheartening after being loyal customers for so long especially on July 4th.

It was really windy and many trees tipped over blocking the paths. I couldn't find what I was looking When I checked the tags on a couple I thought might be related many had no prices attached. I mentioned it to the cashier she denied what I saw. Strike 2. I also checked the price on their moss roses. $2.49 there and $1.49 everywhere else. Since I needed better service I went over to Moon's Nursery on Coit in Frisco. What a difference! Incredible customer service from Frantz Xantus. Really disappointed in Calloway's.

I was mainly interested in looking at houseplants. Just a huge, lovely healthy variety of ferns, succulents, cacti, aroids, Hoya,...... everything from tiny 2 inch pots of " string of pearls" CUTE!! to gorgeous baskets of philodendron "Brazil".. all the plants appeared very healthy and lush. My brother in law was looking for landscape bushes, and found a nice selection as well. My mother in law was searching for a colorful hanging basket... BINGO!!! I could have spent hours there!!!! Leave yourself plenty of time to browse around. I thought prices were pretty reasonable. Saw lots of nice Pink Princess philodendrons in 4" pots for 19.00.... Not bad at all!! The selection of ceramic and terra cotta pots was outstanding as well. The young gentleman who checked us out was very courteous.

There is a large selection of plants, herbs, and flowers to choose from. There is also a gift shop that has plenty of unique and interesting items to purchase for that special someone. One of the most delightful features of this nursery are the cats that live on the premises. My sons and I love petting the cats; there is one in particular we enjoy seeing the most as he is the sweetest kitty on the property and his name is Vail. We ordered A LOT (25 cubic yards) of compost for our property. When we went to use it, we realized the compost was nowhere near finished, and it hadn't been screened even once. Our compost was filled with large leaves, big sticks/twigs, and trash. At first, I really thought they accidentally gave us mulch. This is compost that's advertised as being ideal for top dressing lawns. I tried reaching out to Living Earth to come to a resolution, and I received no response despite multiple attempts. We'll be needing large amounts of compost at least 2x/year for lawn maintenance, and we'll certainly be getting it elsewhere moving forward.
