We were on the hunt for coffee post lunch and were drawn to this place. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to get anything. We were looking at the amazing looking cookies/pastries on display for prices, but didn't see any. The employee was too busy to pay attention to us, so we proceeded to look at the menu for the prices, but they weren't listed. Unfortunately, we must not have returned the menu to its "original state" so instead of helping us or the customer next to us, the employee made it a point to straighten out the menu. With that, we just walked out and decided we were meant to just go to starbucks instead. I wish I could have tried one of the massive pastries or cookies (considering all the raving reviews) but was so put off by the employee's ignorance and behavior.

Hot Oatmilk Dona Chai Latte- 3/10

Sooo, I've been going to this cafe for a little while and it was such a treat to try something new. I like the concept. Typically, has plenty of pastry options and they all look delicious. They also have brunch and lunch style options which is great if you plan to stay awhile. However, the drinks are lazily made with an automated system that will scorch your drink if you are not well-versed as a barista. For an almost $10 drink (once you add the milk and syrup), it's starting to be more apparent that they are just trying to make a quick drink versus a good drink. The location is situated conveniently right across from the metro and in the midst of busy office buildings. I've only sat in once and the ambiance was quiet and great for the small bit of work I planned to get done. Overall, if you're in a hurry and want a scorching hot beverage this will suffice but if you're looking for friendly service and great drinks, this may not be the spot for you!

Cute coffee shop with a great vibe! The staff was friendly, and my B.L.A.T. sandwich was delicious. My friends got the Birria Grilled Cheese with soup and the Breakfast Sandwich--both looked great. We all got drinks: my friend and I had matcha, and our other friend had coffee. Nothing mind-blowing, but all were good! We also tried the Baba au Rhum pastry--super moist and messy (didn't realize it was soaked in rum bc didn't know the name), but the whipped cream was amazing. Only downside: parking is tough in Alexandria. Took a while to find a spot, but worth it!

Searched for a shop that offers Matcha tea and came across For Five Coffee. It's was a 10 min walk from my hotel so I decided to sit and eat while I'll cooled down from the summer heat. When I walked in there was no real order to the line so I asked if anyone needed to order. Once I made my way to the front of the 4 person line the gentleman who took my order I felt wasn't very friendly to me but I ignored it and placed an order for a ice blueberry matcha and egg croissant sandwich. He sat the number stand on the counter with no direction, so I asked was it for me and if I should take it. Long story short my food arrived and it was a decent sized egg sandwich and a side salad. The sandwich was covered in mayonnaise so I removed it but overall it was filling. I'll definitely go back but I know what to expect next time around.

2 cappuccino

I give sold 4 for quality of coffee. On expensive side at $6.50 for cappuccino and $7+ for latte for small European size cup. Food looks pretty good and healthy..

I found this place back in 2021 and finally returned in 2024; this Alexandria location. It's so crazy because I live in New York and have YET to go to a For Five in the city. The place is actually a pretty good size. Although it has its own entrance from the street, it's located inside of a corporate building. So I imagine that it gets busy. There is plenty of room to sit and lounge inside and a few outside for when the weather is nicer. One thing that hasn't changed about this place is the efficiency of the baristas. They work quickly. I got my latte immediately after ordering it. I would say roughly 2 minutes. I keep my latte simple with almond milk. It's always a great choice. The coffee always tastes good for me. I have yet to be disappointed. I did not get a pastry this time. But I do remember that in 2021, I got an almond croissant and I enjoyed it. They had cake slices available but I just wasn't feeling any of them. They were coconut and lemon. Hopefully, it won't take me 3 years to get into a For Five... I definitely recommend for those in the area.

I have frequented For Five Coffee too many times to count! My go-to is their lattes with an orange peel! There are several speciality drinks to try, but once I find something I love, I am on repeat! They seem to make it perfect each and every order. Admittedly, I will order 2 for myself and am not ashamed!! :-) I find the customer service to be A-OK without any issues ever. They do offer food options which appears appetizing, but I have yet to try anything (that's on my to-do list). The shop is clean with your occasional bits of sugar or cream left behind by customers. However, it's never nasty to where you do not wish to eat or drink there. Overall, it's a cute spot for coffee and convenient if you near. Pricing is typical for a coffee shop in the D.C. area (not overpriced IMO, just expected).

Match Latte with White Mocha and Strawberry White Tea Lemonade

The filled cookies and muffins were delicious -- we tried the confetti cookie and the blueberry muffin, both full of flavor. The matcha latte I ordered tasted exactly as a matcha latte should. It's hard to fine cafes that do it right. We also had the Strawberry White Tea Lemonade, which was perfectly refreshing and just what we needed to quench our thirst. The service was excellent. I can't wait to come back !

Coffee, espresso, pastries, food.

We popped into this coffee shop because it was the closest to our hotel, hoping for just a drinkable cup of coffee. We were so pleased to get amazingly smooth, delicious lattes with friendly service. I'm temporarily navigating with a medical scooter, and this two-level cafe is handicap accessible. The decor was adorable. We will definitely return.

They are a little pricey on the food for a coffee shop but they definitely deliver. I ordered a nitro with huevos rancheros breakfast while working (solid wifi setup). The service was pretty quick to bring my order to my table (waited less than 10 minutes). But the true revelation came once I tried the food and almond croissant to go with it. Will definitely be back!

This coffee shop has become one of my go to coffee places. I like the cold brew. My husband however isn't a big fan of the beans they use for their americanos. He says they have a buttery flavor. The food here is very good. I've tried pastries and some off the menu. I didn't love the large sugar cookie I got, however my husband thoroughly enjoyed the large Oreo cookie he got. The Mexican Birria grilled cheese was very yummy. The other day I got the soup do the day which was a Moroccan chicken soup, one of the tastiest soups I've had in a long time. Looking forward to returning to try more of the menu!

Is "bulletproof" coffee (grass fed butter/MCT oil) available here?

I don't recall seeing it on the menu, but they have all the ingredients at hand. I do know that I tried it for a while and my triglycerides went through the roof. I think it boils down to homeopathy, which is BS. I think Bulletproof… Read more

Unfortunately, whoever the individual was on shift today was just a total piss poor person - she seemed to have an issue with our party, as she automatically assumed we just came there to 'squat' without ordering anything (if you have been to this place before, there isn't much seating and this isn't where you'd want to sit for a bit anyway); when I called her out and stated that I already knew our party's orders, she backtracked. She then continued to make a snide comment on the number of drinks we were ordering - what's with the passive aggressiveness? I didn't know that there was some rule that each person was required to order something. Like, are you okay? I just had a bad feeling about all of this, and we should have just walked out instead of giving our money to support this business - to add to it all, the coffees that we did receive (latte with soy milk, and the mocha) were just poorly made and not strong at all; they were both watered down and bitter at the same time... come on! UGH, the regret, but it was a choice. Shame on you, Via Volcán! You might want to heavily reconsider who you employ and train them better - this individual is really hurting your business! By 10:30 am though, there were many more customers and all tables were taken. So come here by 10 am if you want to nab a table. The drinks I had here so far are: - Bluebell espresso soda - brisk, fruity, and refreshing. It has an intriguing complex blend of flavors (jasmine, blamango, coconut). Really unique! - Rose cardy latte (iced with little ice, oat milk) - delightfully sweet and refreshing. It was not too sweet and has light floral tones. Service was very friendly and quick. As someone who embarks on coffee…read moreadventures weekly, this café stands out with its creative options, charming interior, and amazing baristas. However, I'm considering making this a less frequent stop because they no longer allow customization of their seasonal selections. I used to enjoy tailoring my drinks to explore new flavors and enhance my experience. While I understand their logic--similar to not altering a prix fixe menu--the ability to customize is something I value in a coffee shop, especially since I savor one select cup each day. The ambience is delightful, with a rustic modern vibe that makes it a decent spot to work if you can snag a table, though the wobbly chairs can be a bit distracting. They also offer a coworking space, which is nice if you need a rentable area, but it does feel somewhat corporate, reminiscent of a WeWork environment. Despite these positives, I can't give the shop a full five-star rating due to their policy against customizing specialty drinks. While I appreciate their desire to maintain the integrity of their unique creations, this decision takes away from the personal coffee experience I cherish. The joy of customizing a drink to my exact taste is something I miss dearly. In summary, while the coffee and atmosphere are top-notch, the lack of personalization and the slightly corporate/snobby feel of the coworking space are drawbacks. It's still a great place to visit for the flavors and the vibe, but I hope they reconsider allowing customization to enhance the overall experience.

The line went out the door and it took a while to find a free table. Service is very friendly despite how busy they were.
