This shop is adorable! I'm not big on touristy shops in general, but I did promise my daughter I'd find her a postcard, and this store had postcards that best reflected the location I've been in thus far. Not to mention, I found two more fun magnets for my travel collection. There's nothing to say this store is one of a kind, but I do appreciate that it's a small local business. I only saw a store associate at checkout, and she was pretty friendly. The prices were also reasonable, so I left feeling satisfied overall with my visit. read more

We have visited this store many times and often had excellent experience. Today, we visited this store with my daughter. After just purchasing some items from the store, my daughter wanted to look at the Mickey and Minnie Christmas houses. I am pregnant and currently can't hold my daughter for long periods of time- she carefully was looking at the houses but got excited and her finger bumped a shelf while trying to show me something. An item fell off the shelf and broke. My daughter immediately started crying because she was being so careful and felt bad it broke. While I was trying to reassure her, a sales gal came over and started telling me that she broke part of a set and was very frustrated. I offered to pay for the piece but she continued to be incredibly rude, all while my daughter was crying because it was an accident. I understand pieces in the store can be pricey, but after offering to pay for the broken item, I would've expected a significant change in attitude. This is a store with great items, but I won't be shopping there again. read more

This place is huge! Great selection of all things sundry. I bought some rocky road fudge. Expensive but oh so yummy! They have a lot of stuff on sale too. The upstairs is all toys and games. The staff are friendly but not pushy. I highly recommend this place. read more

This was my favorite store growing up. Recently relocated and stopped in on Saturday to grab some chocolates for family. The two employees I encountered were perhaps the rudest of I've dealt with in quite some time. I wanted to buy two boxes of fudge and the woman rudely informed me that it would take her some time and if I had anywhere else I could go while she did it. First, it's chocolate, second, don't offer chocolate and fudge if it takes 30 minutes to put together two boxes. Will not be back - plenty of other local businesses that are very friendly and appreciative of small business support. read more

Used to love this place with all my heart. Now I can't step foot inside. Last time I tried to shop there, I took three steps inside before being cornered by an older woman. I am disabled, with a service dog and a doctor's note and cannot wear a mask for multiple reasons. This woman came at me aggressively, backed me up to the door, and demanded I leave or put on a mask. When I tried to show my doctor's note, the woman told me to get out now, in those words. I asked if they accommodate the disabled, and her response was to laugh and, in her exact words: "No, we don't do that here. Get out." I have never been discriminated against and disrespected like that before and it was shocking. I wish I could report them to the ADA. read more

So let me first give you the one star ! It's a great star ! But only for the amazing job they have done on having everything, very pleasing to the eye , childhood memories from the toy section upstairs ! The store is beautiful! We were enjoying what we saw , taking it all in . Definitely planned on some purchases as we found some really neat items . They lost us at customer service ! The lady at the register approached us , and in a awkward stern voice said " how is it we can help you ? " not polite at all. I thought ok maybe she's having a bad day. We're fine thank you finding what we need ! She continued to stare us down , then when she thought I wasn't looking I caught her giving us both the stare down and she was gawking at my purse . I immediately knew then where her thought was. So I thought ok , I'll just brush it off she's being over cautious. But then she continues to give us this uncomfortable stare down " lady grow a pair ! If we make you uncomfortable and because we don't fit your ideal " look" for your store ask us to leave !!! First of all I have never stolen anything in my life ! Second I have no need to , we may not wear flashy clothes , maybe we're a bit on the spunky side with our turquoise hair and his Mohawk ! But trust we have zero interest in stealing from anyone ever ! Good news is we spent our money elsewhere and ended up buying some awesome records at tower records ! Highly recommended! read more

I absolutely love this store! We visited for the first time about 2 weeks ago and I can't wait to go back. The decor was really neat and classic! I could spend hours shopping here. They have really cute flags and a ton of different household items like salt and pepper shakers, ceramic tea pots, etc. They have some really great kids toys. I bought my neighbors son a really cute bowl, cup, and flatware set. They even gift wrapped it for me! I strongly suggest stopping by if you are in the area. read more

Head upstairs. Breathe in. Welcome to your childhood. When I was maybe three years old, I came in here and got a toy that I brought with me everywhere until it ripped a few years later. It was a stuffed golden retriever puppy that I loved to pieces. Upon Fluffy's demise, my parents brought me to the store once again and I got a pencil sharpener toy-- it was purple, shaped like a little dog, and had suction cups on the feet. The pencil would go in the mouth, and you'd twist the tail to sharpen. The ears would flap as you sharpened. Being in this store makes me feel like a kid again. I look around at all the brightly colored toys and wish I could rewind it all, and go back to being so young and amused at these rainbow erasers and puppets. But alas, time is fleeting, and we are uncontrollably marching towards oblivion with no real way to cease it, no matter how much we may want to. It's the only dimension we cannot stop traveling through. Nevertheless, it's a cute store. Great collection of stuffed animals, literally hundreds. Little pricey, but it's cheap for a locally-owned business. Plus it feels good knowing that I'm supporting a small business instead of a big corporation sometimes. read more

Fun store full of novelties, toys, and candy! Their fudge.....Oh the fudge! While all of it is great I loved the Tiger Fudge with chocolate and peanut butter! We are so lucky to have this wonderful family-operated store in our community. I was in search of British-style Christmas crackers (also called "poppers' by Americans I think). I looked on Amazon but the choice was overwhelming and rather confusing, as to what I might be getting. I'm so glad I thought to check with Foothill Mercantile, because they had so many designs to choose from. I bought some for my family, and also had some sent to my daughter in Texas for her family Christmas. The staff at Foothill is wrapping them and mailing them for me. Talk about service! I really can't say enough about the store and the staff. It's great to be able to shop locally too. read more

I love this place. We are long term Nevada county residents and have been shopping here for more than thirty years. The owners are good, kind people. This is a challenging time for all. Please help our local merchants by doing your part. Be supportive. Be courteous. Be considerate. They have a legal obligation to enforce the COVID guidelines. I'm giving this place a low rating because we visited the other day and I was treated so poorly by a few of the workers. My son was asked not to play with the toys.. What is the point considering it's a toy store. Children pick toys by touching them and seeing what functions they bring to the table. He was merely pushing buttons on toys to see what sounds they make. I was tempted to just walk out due to the level of respect we were given, but I think my kids would have been most disappointed. I really hope the owner sees this review and takes it to serious heart. It was very uncomfortable, and seriously disappointing considering we were trying to support a small business. read more

This toy and novelty store is amazing, but their service is even better! My boys were looking for a cap gun and caps, but Foothill was currently out of stock. ('Eye's starting to well up with tears.) So the associate went way above and beyond and called around to the competition to try to find them for us. No place else would do that, such a class act. I also want to give a shout out to their very interesting collection of Muppet's style puppets, I have to drag my kids out of there. read more

My kids and I love this store. It's so fun to go inside and see so many items. The upstairs is a child's fun place and you can find a gift for anyone in your family. The fresh fudge smells amazing while it's being made and the staff are always friendly and inviting and helpful. They even gift wrap at no extra charge.
