We lost the only key to our vehicle the other day. We called AAA since we're members and thought they would send a tow truck to haul the car to the dealership. The ignition on my Ford Focus became stuck and did not allow me to turn the car on (apparently that's a common problem with early models of the Focus). I called AAA and was given a time frame of 45-60 mins for them to be able to send a locksmith to my location. Being that it was late at night I passed on AAA's provider, instead I got on yelp and based on the reviews I decided to call Mike at Foothill Lock & Security. Mike was not only able to quote me about 45 dollars less than AAA's original provider but he was also able to get here in 20 mins rather than the 45-60 mins from AAA's original provider and because he is AAA approved, I was able to still qualify for AAA's discount which knocked off an additional 60 dollars from the price Mike gave me. Mike was professional, completed the job in a timely manner, and most importantly did it right the first time. When my only key to my '72 Chey Pickup was lost, I called AAA. They called FL&S to come out. AAA called me back saying they had the locksmith on the phone and they wanted to know if my doors were locked and if it is the same key for the doors as well as ignition. I answered yes. When Moe of FL&S arrived, he told me he was going to change out my ignition, which I did not want nor was told. He said he had told AAA that was necessary. I asked about the door key and he said he'd make one, but it would be different than the ignition, where I told him, if he makes a key for the door, it will work in the ignition...he was insistant on changing the ignition. Then he asked me if the doors were locked, I said yes and that I had already told AAA that too, when they had 'the locksmith" on the line. He could not get the doors open with his tools, so he broke out five rings of keys, between the both of us, we tried almost all of them when one finally opened the door, somewhere over 200 keys later. I then told him to try that one in the ignition. It worked. Moe then made me two keys and gave me $10 off for "helping him", as I had gone through two rings of keys on the passenger side door while he attempted on the drivers door. Moe was very courteous, but seemed a bit novice, as he was unable to 'slim-jim' either door open. I do not know if I'd call on FL&S, but if AAA sends them out to me on another automotive key issue, I will not turn them away. read more

I called to have my house re-keyed at 10:30 am and Mike was at my house around 2:30 pm. He was polite, efficient and reasonably priced. I had 4 locks re-keyed in about a half an hour. I initially requested 3 keys be made then changed my mind to have 4, and he did it without an extra charge. Thanks for the good service! read more

Lost my key to my one owner 1976 Datsun 280Z. Triple A referred me to Foothill Lock & Key, 45 minutes away in Oceanside. They arrived at my house at appointed time and made a replacement key on site. One key for ignition, 2 doors, and hatchback. Forty year old car presented a challenge but Mike did some magic and made a new key without removing any locks. I highly recommend them. read more

Terrible service and poor communication. The locks were installed incorrectly and they told me they would be out the next morning to fix it. By noon the following day, no show and no call. The guy finally came that afternoon, told me he was going to buy more parts, and he never returned. Not recommended! read more
