On a whim, I stopped in after going to the bank next door just to see if MAYBE they carried anything to help my Borzoi/Russian Wolfhound's nose. He was scratched by a wild animal and got some sort of infection and I couldn't afford to go to a vet. The service was impeccable. Super friendly. Down to earth. They helped me above and beyond. Never had anything but a good experience with them over the last seven years. I've supplied horses, dogs, cats and rabbits through them. Pricing is OK, not great but not a gouge at all. No problems getting a little help to load stuff, a little tight because of the lot so plan ahead. The last time I was in the lady at the counter visited with my six-year old and came up with a toy for him. That rates pretty good on the 'treat your customer' side of things, I think. read more

Good prices at this feed store and good hours as well. I get hay delivered to Yorba Linda and Anthony, the delivery guy, is the best! He always calls to let me know he is on his way and is always friendly and positive. Also, (bonus points) he sweeps and cleans up the leftover hay that falls off on the driveway/sidewalk. Excellent customer service! They are so knowledgeable and patient. I have what I believed to be a sick chicken covered in mites. My vet bill was $350 for xrays which she didn't need, antibiotics which was not necessary, and was misdiagnosed that she needed surgery. The vet did nothing for the mites even though they told me she was covered in them. I was so shocked, I left there in a fog! Then I called and went to see Andrea at Foothill Feed & Grain and she took the time to sit on the floor with me and Myrtle, and Myrtle does not have mites at all, just dander. Plus my chicken is not sick at all, just lonely and broody. Andrea was prepared to try to feed and water Myrtle, and dust her for mites. She didn't need any of that. She just needs to sit on some eggs and be happy again. Sounds silly but chickens get in a funk too. Thank you Andrea and Foothill Feed & Grain! I will be getting all my supplies from you!! read more

Wow I was scared to go in here after all these reviews. Just moved to Orange and wanted some baby chicks. Went in there ready to be "abused" but this nice lady came up and we started chatting about the chicks. Turned out the chicks were not the ones I wanted (hers were the Bantams) so she graciously told me to go to Wagon Wheel Feed up the road on Chapman and see what they had in the way of chicks, she gave me the directions as well. She was very nice and wished me "a great day" I went to the Wagon Wheel and got the chicks. A great experience- maybe it was just my innate charm that did it- lol read more

First time buying chicken feed as a suburban egg farmer - I'll certainly return. Young clerk - name of Eric - advised me graciously and well as to my needs. He confirmed several questions that I had. The Internet is great for research but this place gave me the face time I needed & that was appreciated. Also - a woman dropped off a rooster she couldn't care for anymore. They took it off her hands no questions asked & I watched Eric put it in the back. He treated it with care & kindness. That was nice to see. Good place. Prices were lower than expected. read more

I decided to stop by this store today on the referral of a neighbor to get some hay for my rabbit. As I walked in, the woman at the front counter was on the phone so I decided to look around for what I needed. When I did not find it, I stood at the front counter to wait for her to finish her call. Another phone rang, she picked up that call, then went back to her original call, never once acknowledging that I was there. I agree with the other posts, this woman is rude. So, I just left. I went up the street to Hitch and Post where I was actually treated like a customer, bought what I needed and left. Needless to say, I will not be back to this store again. read more

I came here to rent some 'straw bales' for a party. I was greeted by a young man who took me out back to show me the bales. We talked for a moment and laughed before heading inside to start the paperwork. The bales were extremely lower than other places renting 'straw bales'. As a matter of fact, they were 50% lower. Most places were asking $10 to rent a bale and Foothill Feed & Grain only wanted $5. Aside from the 'straw' prices I don't have other price info, however, I would surely say that the customer service was satisfying and the overall experience was welcoming. read more

I love this place, it is a feed store not a tack store so dont go there for a saddle. But I drive all the way from Costa Mesa to shop here. Everybody is helpful and friendly and very knowledgable. There is a very good selections and prices are much better then in the south county. But I do come here for the people and the service. This said, I dont understand how some ridiculous slime ball like "Jessi J" can bring his personal problems to yelp and try to down grade a business.? I called and asked about alfalfa pellets. They had the quarter inch pellets that I've been using for puppy litter. It cost 10.95 for 50lbs which is 7 dollars cheaper than the first feed store I was going to. I will be coming back! The woman on the phone was nice and the men in the store when I was there were courteous and helped place the bag into the car. read more

I LOVE Foothill Feed! The proprietress Aundrea knows me by name; they're super friendly and offer to carry my bags of grain. I bought my healthy fabulous chickens there and have received lots of friendly and patient advice. So far they have never been out of stock of any item I've come in for. There are two other feed stores on Chapman but one is overpriced and the other was surly about my cat not being declawed when I called for their grooming dept, so I'm sticking with Foothill. read more

We came in to get some supplies for our new baby goats. The customer service here is absolutely amazing. The lady behind the counter actually called a couple of her clients that are super knowledgeable about goats to help us over the phone and tell us what we needed. I've shopped here since we got our first horse almost a year ago. We are up to 7 now, have moved several times until we found our permanent location, and have always been able to get our supplies delivered. Other than a few mixups (which were promptly corrected!), we have never had issues. The staff is very helpful, especially considering that I had and still have quite a few questions about supplies! Excellent service, fair prices! The customer service provided, whether it is the counter help, or, help with carrying 50 lbs sacks to your car, this place is second to none. A great variety of feed available. We use this place for our chickens, pigeons, dove and squirrel feed needs. The counter help is fast, friendly and knowledgable ! I use this place as my backup store. I prefer to shop at Midway City Feed for my horse feed supplies (I've been going there for 20+ years). They're prices are pretty good for horse feed/shavings. The parking does suck, they have a variety of feed/shavings but last time I was in there, they were out of everything I needed so I ended up not buying anything. The previous times I went in there before, she overcharged me for product so I had to get a refund (thought it was weird that it happened 2 times in a row so be sure to check your receipt). They load your vehicle for you which is nice (Midway does this as well). I guess what i'm trying to get at is that I wish Midway was open on Sundays because I really don't like shopping here :) I'm going to try Hitch 'n post up the street from now on. read more

Their mad driver hit me in the head& neck with a bale while unloading a truck on my ranch. Foothill Feed Co.of Orange, CA made me prove it to a Judge for replacement of teeth, neck therapy. I'm a professional horsewoman and know where to be when working around the barn. This was done with intent to harm me because the driver didn't want to unload where requested. Beware, this company only cares about it's self. Never did the owner even call or inquire about my well being. They were threatening when I tried to make a contact one time to settle out of court. I just made my first visit to Foothill Feed & Grain - what a pleasant store to deal with. The help could not have been nicer and more informative. I was looking for a gardening supply and the lady behind the counter wanted to make sure on the number and size of the bags I had requested. She suggested that I go outside with one of the young men working there to check on the size to make sure that I was not purchasing more than what I needed. It is too bad that the big box stores do not take a lesson on how to deal with customers. Small business owners made this country and they will continue to keep us happy and returning to their place of business. I will be back. read more

First I am sad to see any bad reviews at all and all people deserve more chances than most. i have had very good experience here with these nice people and yes there are times they are very busy and not able to chat it up. I get my feed there and have never gotten the wrong stuff and if did wouldn't hesitate to chuckle at it as we are human and hey whose perfect. i had raised a baby chick in hopes of it being a hen as roosters are not allowed in my area if even hens but to my dismay my 3 month old large baby started to practice crowing. I was given permission to bring him down to the store and they are trying to find him a good home and taking great care of him. So before you hesitate always make your own opinions as too many people follow others and maybe they were the ones having the bad day. read more

Good prices and friendly people. They always carry my chicken feed to my car. They also will take orders for chicks if you can't find what you want. There's also a "scoop it yourself" shelf in the back if you don't want to buy 25+ pounds of something. The main downside is that the store is a little disorganized and the parking is super tiny and sometimes hard to back out of it there's more than one car in it, but they carry what I need at a great price so I'll be coming back. read more

I have been shopping at Foothill Feed for 30+ years. I do not go in for the customer service but have never been treated badly. I also went in to buy chicks and they referred me to Wagon Train. I returned to Foothill for my chicken food and delivery of shavings. Sometimes they are a day late on the delivery but since shaving are not usually time critical it is not an issue. Their prices are great and I like the casual look of the place. read more
