we've been coming to petco for our PERSCIPTION dog food for awhile. our eldest pup has renal issues so her diet is complicated. My daughter went to the store today, and the new cashier would not service her. we come to store every 4 days for this food. this isn't new the cashier was rude and abrupt with her, told her " i don't know how to do this.. so you're need to go outside to your car and figure it out on your phone" excuse me what? once my daughter went back in and spoke to someone else who was helping her address whatever misunderstanding the new lady had... said new lady come over and got involved saying that they're not allowed to assist her. she even said that " her trainer was on break and she can't ask her for help" lady... you either know what to do, or you don't so thanks Petco in orange, we now need to find a way to feed this dog tonight with some food that not going to cause her to bleed out of her ass. we'll make other arrangements going forwards. **Edit** Reach out to YOU to discuss this?? Love all the animals! Petco is always so much fun to walk through. I liked seeing the birds, mice and fish. So cool! I didn't buy any of the animals, but I like to say hello lol I came here looking for an outfit for my puppy. Recently, we went to an event that was dog friendly and had there was a dog costume contest. So of course I wanted to enter my fur baby! Lol I found a cute pride outfit for her; the rainbow skirt, butterfly wings, and pride socks. It ended up being way too hot at the event, so she only wore the tutu shirt. It was adorable!! There is a play area for potential adoption connection. Staff is helpful. Pricing is varied - some items are comparable while others are high. I had a very disappointing experience trying to get a second opinion on a growth on my dog's gums. I originally tried to book at their Tustin location but was unable, so I scheduled an appointment at their Orange location. I clearly explained over the phone that I needed a second opinion, and I asked for the standard price for a wellness visit. I was given a website link, but nowhere did it mention that a wellness visit would require the purchase of a vaccine or similar product. When I arrived, I was told that a wellness visit could only be done if I bought something additional. I ended up being pressured to purchase a $40 dewormer that my dog didn't need, just so she could be seen. Once in the room, the doctor was very short and brusque. When I mentioned we were there for a second opinion on the growth, she abruptly interrupted, said they don't handle that there, and told me I would need to find another place--without giving any recommendations. When I declined the dewormer, she quickly ended the visit and directed the vet tech to let us go. The vet showed no interest in helping my dog or even guiding me to another resource. The only recommendation I received was from the vet tech, who suggested trying their pet hospital. The people on the phone had told me nothing about the vaccine requirement, and the doctor was extremely rude and unhelpful. Very disappointing and frustrating experience. I expected more professionalism and compassion for animals. I will not be returning. read more

Every time I come here, we get crickets for our leopard gecko. Today we had to wait 15 -20 minutes which is absolutely ridiculous. I was told the girl got our crickets, but was helping out another customer. They never seem to get it right when it comes to getting someone to get the crickets. The store has quite a bit of a selection for the most part. However, I have a tiny puppy who is a toy sized dog so we like to have a cat collar with a bell on her so we can hear her. We have had her over 4 months and we keep checking back for collars and they have Not stocked the collar section at all (this whole 4 month period). There are just a few collars and a TON of empty prongs with prices, completely empty!!! It is ridiculous that after 4 months NO ONE has re-ordered collars!!! read more

Got their vital care for our 2 doggies and started getting them groomed together. I used to pay $75 for 1 boxer mobile bath, and after a year or so, she ended up being 10-minute quick baths with no dry. The guy was amazing but was not cost-friendly after having 3 kiddos. At Petco, everyone here is so friendly and you can tell, the groomers love what they do and truly care for the dogs (&cats). The past few grooming appts, I ended up paying $75 (including tip) for both dogs and they both feel soft, are dry, and smell amazing. (The cost is a deal when you opt-in for vital care, take advantage of 20% off grooming, and rewards). Thank you for always loving on our furbabies, and giving them the best care every visit. We cannot say enough amazing things about Gracie, the Lead Pet Styler at Petco in Orange! Our golden retriever used to be absolutely traumatized by grooming experiences, but Gracie has completely changed that. She is incredibly respectful of our dog's body language and clearly understands pet psychology on a deep level. Her gentle approach and genuine care make all the difference. Gracie does a top-notch job every single time--our pup comes back looking fantastic and, most importantly, happy and relaxed. We've tried a few groomers since moving out of the area, but no one compares to her. We now make the trip back to Orange just to see her. It's 100% worth it! 5 stars go for the customer service they provided. We went in needing some prescription food for our dog. Prescription food was new to us so we didn't quite know what to expect. The employee knew exactly what we were looking for and went back to see if they had it in stock. We browsed the store while we waiting, at one point wondering what was taking so long. When he did return, he let us know they didn't have it but gave us a list of Petco's in Orange County that did have it along with their phone numbers for us to call and confirm. He went further and explained we had to order it online for pick up. Once we created our account, we would upload the prescription from the Vet allowing us to purchase the food. Since their pet medical center was closed on Sunday, I'm glad there was an online option. Even though we didn't leave with the food we needed, their explanation and helpful list of locations with the item in stock were invaluable. Thank you. read more

The place is a hit and miss for me. Anytime I try to get something from the store, there's a 50% chance they're out of stock. That goes for pet food, pet wipes, and shampoo. I've brought my dog here multiple times with no issues (shout out to Mallory!) but my go-to groomer has left since then. The place does look a little worn down and it feels a bit dismal when I walk in. Still, I only ever go here to pick up items IF they have it on stock, so it gets the job done sometimes. read more

If I could give this pet grooming section 0 stars i would. I left my dog today to get a simple bath and the girl Esme inspected my dog beforehand and said he was good to go. I know he has a bit of new fleas and I agreed to him having him shampooed with the flea shampoo if needed. She calls me 40 minutes later to tell me she can not continue washing my dog because he has a lot of fleas and is matted. (mind you she inspected my dog beforehand...not sure why she didn't check if he has matted or no as she is the stylist) now she tells me I need to pick him up and I should rather take him to the vet to get him completely shaved and on medication....she also tells me she will give me my dog back WET and she will provide me a towel when I pick him up WET! I've never experienced this before with him. Every groomer I've ever taken him fixes the matted hair because they are actual professional groomers. It seems this girl doesn't know how to actually do her job. If anything she seemed super busy and that is why she didn't want to continue washing my dog. DISGUSTING SERVICE. read more

So I came here today because the Tustin store does not carry the full line of Limited Ingredients Diet dog food. Surprising to find this store to carry the entire line. Granted, this store is much bigger but you can also tell it's in need of a face-lift. I have fewer issues finding items here than the other store, probably because it is bigger and possibly less popular? Staff have always been helpful, so I prefer this one in the area. If you're ok with the dated look, this store is typically better stocked than others in the area. I also find this store to have more Vetco appointment availability than the Tustin one. read more

This appears to be an older store that could really use a remodel. It's dirty and you can see a lot of wear and tear on the walls, floor, doors and fixtures. The store itself is very messy. There are empty shelves, empty peg hooks or hooks with just one item. Some hooks had multiple quantities but different items. Some items could have been in the right place but there was no price tag on the shelf so you had no idea what the price was. There were pallets of merchandise on the sales floor that were not being worked, which created a tripping hazard. Only 1 out of 3 people greeted me during my visit. I did not make a purchase. He and the team take great care of the fish and their environments. David is also very knowledgeable and is gentle and efficient in capturing the fish. So I went into this particular Petco on my way home from work to get crickets for my lizard. I thought I'd save time and go to this location since it was right off the freeway, instead of going to the one I normally go to by my house in Corona. I walked in straight to the register since nobody was in line to check out. I ordered the crickets and paid for them. That's when it all went bad. I literally stood there and waited for like 20-25 mins for the crickets. During this time I watched literally 25-30 people enter the store and get their items and pay for them. One lady actually thought I was security for the store since I had been standing by the front door and register for so long. When I asked the lady at the register to please check on the status and maybe request over the walkie talkie about my crickets, she just looked at me and kind of did the "I can't do anything for you". Wow So when I finally got the crickets...I was wondering if the guy had to actually catch the crickets...? And icing on the cake...about 1/5 of the crickets in the bag were already dead! Needless to say I won't be going back to that Petco. read more
