I picked up my dog and got charged $95. I asked why and was told it was the "standard package" for his size and haircut. I have never ever paid this much to get my dog groomed and was not expecting it to cost so much for a medium sized dog. Just seems like they just charge whatever they want. My heart is so so so beyond broken, I loved her so much, she was my best pet friend she always let me snuggle her and cry on her she always knew when I was hurting inside or felt alone she was there, she was there for me through so much. She's been my go-to dog groomer for about 4 years now and is always willing to take in my 3 schnauzers. She's always willing to take on new styles for them, she is a true treasure. I'm writing this review so others are aware of what potentially can happen. I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone and I wish I knew what I was getting myself into. I went to get my 2 year old poodle groomed on 5/16/23. My dog was very matted and knew they were going to have to shave him since this has happened before. In the past my dog has got shaven due to matting and no issues have come up from it. I picked him and up and they told me my dog was the happiest there and no issues. I had to pay before I even saw him, which has been the most expensive I have ever paid for a groomer since they charge extra for matting. Well when I got home, it was a different story. I found dried blood on his ear. My dog has white nails and they still managed to cut him on the vein. I understand that accidents happen but the fact they keep reassuring me that nothing happened and normalizing that it could happen because of his matting. My dog has been a different dog since that day. The following day he wouldn't get out of bed like he usually does in the morning. It even took a full day for my dog to go outside and potty and still hesitates. I knew this was not normal. I had to take my dog to the vet and they ended up giving him antibiotics for his cut. This experience has been horrible. I talked to the owner 3 times but she still did not take any responsibility for what happened. Instead, I was just told it was because of his matting and because I waited too long to take him in and there was nothing they could have done differently. She backed up her groomer and assured me my dog was treated with all the love. My dogs behavior begs to differ. He is even more anxious than usual. I do not know what happened but I know there is something missing. It doesn't take a dog 2 weeks to adjust to their grooming read more

We found this place because they "specialize" in grooming aggressive dogs. Our 20lb rescue doodle has always been anxious about getting groomed, so by word of mouth, we found Annette at Sandy's grooming. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. When we went to go pick him up, they asked for his name, then said "let me go grab his chart so we can charge you." She returned with a chart and asked us to pay $145 without bringing us our dog. I asked to see the dog first and speak to the groomer so I can ask her how the grooming went. Annette came out and told us he was aggressive and she did what she can. I asked if his nails were cut, she said no. I asked what else she couldn't do, and she only then started to mention what she has and has not done. But because she tried, they will be charging us the full price plus the "aggressive dog handling fee" which was $145 for a 20lb dog. This is the most I've ever had to pay for a dog grooming yet still not all done. I'm sad that they advertise themselves as "specialize in grooming aggressive dogs" yet couldn't handle our dog. Yet, because they tried, they still charge full. When we got home, we were able to trim some of his nails (but not all because he was already so stressed out) and found out that they cut his butthole area too close, there was a small cut below the butthole, and he was bleeding. Must have been clipped by accident. We didn't like the price, how the staff handled customers, lack of communication, and misguiding of their capabilities. We won't be returning again. read more

I should've left this review a long time ago, but I guess it's never too late? We've been taking our two huskies here for years, and they take such great care of them every time. It is a pain in the butt to bathe and comb huskies, and I could tell you that my male husky is the epitome of just that. We've had a couple of groomers who banned him from going back because he just hates getting his nails trimmed. I've read reviews from multiple places that some groomers just doesn't want to deal with huskies, and I could understand that. Sandy's Grooming will go above and beyond to try different strategies to get it done! I have been a customer for 2 years and they have done a good job until I took my 10 pound Yorki there on May 6th at 8 am for his bath and haircut. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was called to pick him up at 12pm and when I did the Receptionist retrieved my dog and asked if I would like her to put him in my vehicle?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I told her that he probably needs to relieve himself so I asked her to put him down. Well when she did he almost immediately fell over. He tried to Stand up and fell over again! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked "What did you do to my dog"? She replied Nothing.. he's 13 years old.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I said that my Yorki had no problems before walking in here and now all of a sudden you groom him and NOW he can't walk without falling down! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I again asked if he fell off of your table and Julie insisted that he didn't.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I spoke to his regular groomer Jessie and she said that the only thing she noticed is that he kept wanting to sit down while grooming! That's a first! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was Livid! UPSET, and ANGRY & the worst part is that no one would tell the truth![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The real kicker is that I always leave a 20% tip thinking that they would take care of our little boy! So I took my Yorki to his normal Vet and explained what I encountered at Sandy's Grooming. I had X-rays done and was told that he has compressed Vertebrae and pinched nerves. The Vet Prescribed liquid gabapentin & Prednisone. My poor Yorki still struggles to walk and can't pick up his back legs too pee. He now squats like a girl to pee! He walks very slow as to not fall over & when he poops... he squats but frequently fall into his poop because he has no strength to hold his squatting position! If you have A pet that you Love .... This place left me with more questions than answers. Our dog is small and has a very thick long coat (Yorkie). He never gets angry or bites, but he moves and wrestles a whole lot. They groomed him well all except for his face which was left way too long, and this is a problem because the hair gets in his food and then stinks. They said they couldn't cut the hair on his face because he was moving too much, and his tongue was out. But...they also said they would have to charge a "handling fee" next time depending on whether they were able to "establish a relationship" with the dog, adding that their grooming price is based on the time that they have to spend. But does this handling fee include cutting hair on his face shorter? And what about other dogs that are easy to groom? Doesn't that make up for the harder dogs? If not, do they charge the easy-dog customers less and give them a rebate? And do they really keep very careful track of the time they have to spend on every dog? [[HIGHLIGHT]]Their speaking and attitude I thought was nice and very civil.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The lady at the front desk was extremely loud, but she was nice, and so I just told myself I was only going to be there for a few minutes and that I wouldn't have to be pummeled all day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] In contrast to Sandy's, our previous groomer had a little bit of a bad attitude, but at least she cut the hair on his face and didn't up the price. Playing devil's advocate, I am sure Sandy's has a price, but I am ultimately left thinking that it is probably too much. We adopted our dog Bolt (at a Chargers football practice adoption event) in August 2019. We tried to take him to a chain store to get groomed but they deemed him "too aggressive". We have cut and trimmed his hair as needed but it looked terrible obviously. We wanted to try to get him groomed again, so we tried Sandy's. We were expecting they may not be able to do it either.
