Love the new location on E Katella! Parking is a big spacious parking lot so bring the trucks and trailers! There's room for everyone! The store is spacious. Lots of different feed to choose from. They have bales of hay. Pricing is moderate but honestly everything is expensive now. The employees were attentive and helpful but also quick. They were much appreciated! I called ahead about a product for my pet and myself and was told they would have it in and would hold 4 for me. When I went in to pick it up under the name one employee said that I could only have 2. I asked if they had 20 or more why I couldn't have 4 as she promised. She said because I'm not using the product for a horse. I told her that's not her place to tell me how to use it as I have done a massive amount of studying about the product and how to use it and it's for all mammals. The two ladies continued to argue with me until they eventually said cancel the order. I let them know that I have never been treated so poorly in a shop and I'm from nyc! They acted like they were the authority on the medicine and were very mean and controlling about a product they're supposed to be selling. This is a nice local feed store that I found last year. I come here to buy Timothy hay for my bunnies. The parking lot is really small and occasionally it's an issue and I have to circle the block. Otherwise, the staff is friendly and prompt, and they load the hay quickly. Great prices - way better than the local chains - and fresher product for my bunnies. read more

So grateful to have a resource like this in the middle of suburbia and not have to drive out to the middle of nowhere. Last spring I got chicks and wanted to raise them on a organic feed and was recommended this place from another backyard chicken owner. This place has a good variety of feed for chickens and other live stock as well as a few different brands of dog/cat food. You can also find medicinal products, books and other accessories and goods for your livestock. Although this location is out of the way for me I come here to get my hens feed since they are the only place that I have found carries it. The price here is very reasonable and they have a knowledgeable staff which is great being a new backyard chicken owner. read more

I have been going to Foothill Feed for years. Not for the great customer service, because there really isn't any. Not for the ample selection, because they really are limited in what they stock. The only reason I ever visited this place was for convenience and prices. They open an hour earlier on Sundays then Hitching Post up the street, and their prices tend to be lower. So, when I'm in a hurry to grab something for the horses, I will pop in here. I know this is a feed store, and not Nordstroms. I don't expect to be catered to, but I do expect to be treated with respect. While Aundrea has been nice on occasion, in general I have found her to be dismissive and downright rude. This is a sentiment shared by many of my horsey/livestock friends. Just this morning I contacted the store to inquire about an item and to ask if I could schedule a delivery. I don't normally require delivery, but have recently injured myself and cannot lift the items I needed today. I was told flat out, "no". Silence. No explanation, no follow up. Just no. When I asked whether they deliver anymore (knowing full well that they do) or if I needed to order more stock to meet a minimum delivery charge, she said, "Look, I said no. I'm just so far behind right now that we can't do any of that." Well, I understand being busy, but there is a way to go about that without being completely rude to the customer. (BTW, I called Hitching Post immediately after and they delivered what I was looking for right away. It may be a little more expensive, but being treated like a human being is worth the extra $2). Additionally, the guys that work here tend to be flippant and unhelpful. And, you need to watch what they load in your car to ensure they are really giving you the right thing. I've made that mistake in the past (my own fault for not watching) and had to drive back down there to exchange it. The guys made me feel like it was my fault and that I was interrupting their lunch break. If you are making a special trip here looking for great prices, I would suggest hitting up Midway City Feed first. They tend to have the best prices, but they are not convenient for me for a quick run to the feed store. From now on, I will be visiting Hitching Post first and resorting to Foothill as a last resort for any immediate needs. Hoping the owners take note of their staff's behavior. In this economy, you can't afford to lose business strictly due to the unprofessionalism of their staff. read more

I drive about 30 out of my way to go here. I've been to the store about 3x and each time, I've gotten some of the best customer service. My wife and I recently decided to raise backyard chicken. We are both from the suburbs with no experience with raising anything. We walked in looking like tourists. The guy behind the counter (forgot his name, young guy with long dark hair) spent over 30 minutes answering questions for us about everything from breed types to feed to how to socialize the flock. Really nice as well. I went in yesterday to get some scratch and decided to pick up some oyster shells also and the lady helping us actually told us it wasn't necessary to buy both. She said she didn't want us to waste money! Can you believe that! Anyways. We are customers for life now. Great prices, great people, great and HONEST service. read more

This place is VERY questionable. On several occasions, I've driven by and this place when it had black and whites outside and yellow police tape wrapped all around the store. Hmmm... Anyway, I've been here a few times for dog food. The place is small, but does carry many different types of feed (for all sorts of birds and mammals). Unfortunately, they don't regularly stock the same brands. Prices are a bit high (since it's a smaller, mom 'n' pop sort of place). It's also not the cleanest of places, but I don't expect it to be. However, this place loses a star solely for its crappy parking lot (which can fit approximately two cars;three if you don't mind blocking the driveway to the back of the store). Getting in and out of this place is a beeyotch so I just park next door (Hollywood Video). If you're looking for pet food and supplies, you'll probably save some money travelling to Petco or PetSmart. However, if you have a horse to feed, this place might be just what you're looking for. read more

I've been coming to Foothill feed for a few years now for my chickens and I've always had friendly service and smiles but then I don't walk in the door with a chip on my shoulder either. The guys are always helpful and the woman at the counter is informative and kind. She may not be 'Miss Bubbly' but then this is America and we all get to have our own distinct personalities. If you need to feed your critters this is a great place for supplies. If you feel the need to convince others you've been victimized because you got a bag of kibble instead of your bag o' bits...
