You would be surprised at everything this diamond-in-the-rough has to offer, from its own over-the-counter butcher shop to their deli, which makes the most incredible sandwiches. Their produce is not the greatest, but it is selective. They do offer items that may be harder to find at Safeway, and maybe a little cheaper. The employees are very kind and helpful towards their customers. When I cruise through the aisles, my imagination tends to run wild as I start to think about all the creative dishes I can make for the week. It's not your typical chain grocery store. It's more like a neighborhood market, but a tiny bit larger. Love this place!

Since prices are the same across all Walmarts in NorCal, I'm going to rate this based on aesthetics and in-store experiences. This is one of the first Walmart Markets to get the early-2020s airport-style "Time Well Spent" remodeling package, but specialized for smaller stores with the overhead signs made of horizontal foam boards instead of the vertical metal ones and less detailed backgrounds. The store looks much brighter and more inviting than it was before and it looks cleaner as well. I find the selection of groceries here larger than other WMNMs which is a plus, and it seems they are well stocked at most times. However, the area is a magnet for crime, I've seen cars being bipped, and there are seedy people hanging around at all times.

The employee was stocking meat in Safeway uniform. To not be rude, my grandmother went to another employee and asked them to help her, and the employee stated that the woman that told her she didn't work there would be able to help her. My grandmother goes back up to the employee and asks why she lied. The woman continues lying, saying "I never said that. I don't remember saying that." Then goes "I thought you were like the rest of *them.*" My grandmother is very hurt by this, as she did nothing to warrant that. No one does. She asks for the manager to file a complaint, and he was even more dismissive. He listened to nothing my grandmother had to say, then stated "I'm not going to write a report on this so you can just leave." No help, no worry, no care. Two random customers began antagonizing my grandmother to take the side of the manager/employee, and the Safeway staff did nothing. They ended up calling the cops on my 72 year old grandmother, for trying to buy meat. I don't even have words. Everyone in this situation share the same race, some sort of Latino, and I believe that is where the tribal, racist, and defensive behavior came from. Everyone else in the store was very kind towards her. It's tragic that in 2026, this repulsive behavior is still ongoing. We are all the same, we bleed the same, laugh the same, live the same and die the same. Race should never matter or be a focal point. Deciding to discriminate against someone over their voice or skin pigmentation is a sign of a lower IQ if you ask me. Maybe that's why they're in their 30s/40s working at Safeway.
