Geresbeck's has the best sales in town when it comes to seafood. The shrimp is always cheap & they steam on site. On a recent visit while waiting for my shrimp to be steamed, I took a walk around the market to see what else I could buy. Geresbeck's has a great speciality ice cream section. They had my favorite Taharka Brother's honey graham ice cream and some other tasty choices. I ended up in the bakery department and saw SO MANY delicious looking baked goods from a peanut butter Boston crème cake to banana pudding parfaits to mini cheesecakes. Their doughnuts are huge and made with the love of someone that loves to bake. I took quite a bit of photos showcasing their selections. As I walked through the store, I started to get a little hungry for a snack. I came back around to the deli/hot foods department and saw a mountain of tasty looking western fries. Now, western fries are extremely popular in Baltimore and the surrounding counties. I've had my share of western fries from the center of the city, to Brass Hen in Eastpoint mall, to even Royal Farms. All were delicious, BUT THESE FRIES WERE ABSOLUTE LOVE AT FIRST BITE!!! They were crunchy like a piece of fried chicken and tender inside like a fluffy baked potato. Omg, I can taste them right now. They were so, so amazingly yummy. If you love potatoes, or any variation of fries, you'd LOVE these. I actually may go back very soon for a fix. I didn't need salt, pepper, ketchup, NOTHING. Now, for my only gripe about Geresbeck's is that I wouldn't necessarily buy goods outside of the seafood, bakery or specialty items. I found that other items in the store, unless on sale, are higher priced than other grocery stores. But they have to counterbalance that with the affordable seafood prices, right? Anyways, if you're in the area, stop by and pick you up some delicious doughnuts and western fries while you're there. Geresbeck's is a piece of nostalgia that will make you feel like you were back in a time when everything was simpler and easy. They will always be solid with me.

I called first to make sure that they had the items that I was looking to purchase and the man that answered the phone was friendly and helpful. The store is your typical African convenience store. It's a bit small, but has all of the staples that you need. On the Google reviews, I saw someone mention that they felt the items were overpriced; maybe when compared to purchasing in one's home country, however for imported goods, I felt that each item was priced pretty fairly, especially relative to other African stores that I have visited.

This location has been totally remodeled and updated to look asthetically pleasing however they are still selling short dated and some expired & molding food. Some items in store can be great deals however the fresh produce is not always fresh (I've found pints of moldy strawberries, blueberries, grapes etc) Buyer beware of the food quality-seems like they get nearly outdated items and don't check fresh produce to remove moldy or rotten food items. This location has the potential to be a top selling grocery store if they keep the items fresh and rotate out molding items. Additionally they have good prices on certain brands that the major grocery stores carry which sets them apart-but again some items are expiring in a day or two so before buying check expiration date. Otherwise for items you'll use quickly like milk, eggs, bread etc the prices can't be beat. They also have fresh fish (tilapia filets) which are cheap and delicious. Definitely recommend trying those. Overall I would recommend trying this place just beware of the expiration date and it bears mention that they have a gluten free & healthy choice variety of some items. Overall rating 3/5.

We finally made it a priority destination two weeks ago, only to discover that they are closed on Thursdays. We made a triumphant return this past week, and after decades of wondering what it was like inside, we made it into the store! Wow, it smells so good in there. Truthfully, I was a bit surprised by how small the shop is, but I haven't been in many butcher shops. The selection of wursts and other meats were baffling to me. We were given a piece of paper, like a menu, that told us what each sausage was, ingredients used, and how it should taste. I ended up with a pound of BAUERNWURST (SMOKED, WITH MUSTARD SEEDS). Oddly, enough, my boyfriend and I also went to the German Christmas Village in downtown Baltimore and they were serving the same kind of wurst at their grilled meat stand. I thought that the ones we cooked at home were better. We paired it with German potato salad for dinner. It was delicious and satisfying. My mother also bought a pound of the same sausage, but now refuses to eat it because she says that it contains beef. There's no sensible reason for her not to eat beef. She just does it to be contrary. She's certainly missing out on a taste sensation. I asked her if I could have her pound, but she refused. She's complex. She also got some BREAKFAST SAUSAGE (NUERNBERGER STYLE W/SWEET MARJORAM AND SAGE) which she absolutely loved. I would really like to try other sausages from this shop, and the low cost makes that very much possible. Would recommend

We were able to find a small Styrofoam cooler though, which was great. We struck out at the Dollar Tree first. I don't know if this is Giant's fault, or not, but there are two benches out front on the sidewalk. These benches are placed right next to a building support column, leaving JUST enough space for me to get through in my wheelchair. Yet less than three feet away, the sidewalk is double wide, which would put the benches out of the walkway. So when I was trying to get from the Dollar Store to Giant, there was a large dude sitting on the end of the bench, making it impossible for me to get through because his legs and shoes were in the way. And, for reasons I do not understand, he refused to stand up and move for a second. He swiveled on the bench to sit sideways. I missed smashing his feet by millimeters. The best thing about this store is the ice cream room. Seriously. There are like 8 freezers, all secluded in a bumped out section of the store. I saw frozen delights in there that I have never before seen in my life. If it didn't take 15+ minutes for me to get to this store, I'd do all my ice cream shopping there and never have to get the same flavor twice. EVER. Other than that, it's your average grocery store. Giant can be pricey, but then again I'm usually an Aldi shopper. There are just some things you can't get at Aldi. Decent. Would recommend if you're in the area.

I am not sure what was going on, but this was not a smooth visit. I went in for two or three items at the most. I found the salads and was met with a number of boxes strewn within the section. Another customer and I looked at each other in a perplexed manner because this was not a good look at all. I literally had to step over the boxes to get to the salad. Though this is probably only my second visit to this location, I could not find anything. Since my sole purpose for visiting was salad and fish, my next visit was the seafood department to get some salmon portions. I asked for two portions to be cut from a larger piece in lieu of the already portioned pieces. The staff person told me that he was not sure if he could do that because it was "cheating". I asked him how it was cheating. I told him that I have my portions cut from the larger pieces of fish all the time at other Giant locations. This guy was in the process of having a total meltdown by not only insinuating that it was cheating, but also suggesting that he was fearful of being fired for this process. He went into such a rant that I told him to forget the fish and just give me a pound of the jumbo shrimp. Thankfully, another staff member appeared and told him that he would finish. Apparently, he understood the process of weighing the fish with the skin and simply cutting the portions a little larger and removing the skin. He did so without any problem. Another customer waiting behind me, softly stated that he had never heard of anything like what the first staff member said. I am glad that I do not live in the area because I would never visit that location again.
