We were looking for a new Chinese restaurant to try and we stumbled upon Foo Yung Express. I will say I didn't hate it, but I don't love it. The food was okay, and while the portions were large, the chicken we got in the orange chicken and in the sesame chicken had some pretty chewy and questionable pieces. The crab cheese wontons were delicious but that was the only thing I would be willing to get there again. It was fun to try a new place, but we will not be returning. read more

Foo Yung isn't bad, but it's just average. I had the Mapo and potstickers. The Mapo doesn't have any depth in its flavor. It's just OK. The potstickers were luke warm. It was like the potstickers had been sitting For a while and were stuck in the microwave before I picked them up. I wills definitely avoid the potstickers in the future. The only other Chinese option in Erie is Panda Express, so these folks should be around for a while. However, if you want really good Mapo or dumplings, I recommend going to Boulder and trying Flower Pepper. Would I eat here again? Only if I'm being really lazy and am desperate for Chinese food. Food is always just okay. Place is a 5 minute drive away from my house, so it is super convenient. Tonight I ordered food and my appetizer was listed as, "Scallion Pancakes". There was a line underneath which stated, "Homemade Chinese flat bread" Sounded delicious. What I got was neither pancake nor flatbread, but deep fried ...pita bread? Scallions were sadly lacking. I am not a picky eater, but this was an affront. Took my food back and was issued a refund. I got the line, (paraphrasing) "This is how we do it here." They were very gracious about refunding me. This is a small location which I felt comfortable in. I noticed that this is a family run restaurant, you can tell by the kids having lunch and doing homework at the same time. It was around noon when I walked in and observed the chef eating lunch which didn't bother me, hey you gotta eat man! ordered a couple things on the menu, Orange chicken and Pad Thai. I should have maybe asked for a recommendation. I figured you can't go wrong with these two. So simple and so easy.. The orange chicken was delish. Unfortunately, I couldn't say the same for the pad thai. There was something to the dish?? is it tomato sauce? Something acidic, aside from the squeeze of lime. There website states "We are a Local Chinese Restaurant serving Pan-Asian cuisine to Erie, Colorado." I wonder if this was the reason for an odd taste to the pad thai. Please work on that dish. I don't normally write reviews but I feel this restaurant deserves it! Tonight is the first time I have ever ordered here. I ordered takeout at 8:39pm (like an idiot) when they close at 9pm, which I won't be doing again because that is just plain rude. In all honesty though, I'm so glad I did! The staff was friendly and courteous as soon as I walked in the door, it didn't even phase them that I ordered food last minute. I live so close to this place and I am stoked to say the least! I opened the bag up when I got home and the food was hot, fresh and each container was filled to the brim! But the flavor of the food, now that is the cherry on top. Two words, ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Restaurants like this deserve to be recognized for taking pride in what they do! I will be enjoying this over the next few days because I have so much food (was not aware of the dinner rations.) We want to support the neighborhood businesses but this really is shockingly bad. We keep trying, hoping that it'll be better than last time, but it seems to just get worse. This last time we ordered the House Chicken, thinking if it's their signature dish then it'll be a safe choice. It has jalapenos in it and was STILL tasteless. How does that even happen? The sauce was thin and there was very little of it. The chicken was in big yucky dry unseasoned clumps. The veggies weren't even appetizing. I just don't get it. We give up. An update for Foo Yung. Today I received a GrubHub gift card and decided to try Foo Yung again and you know what? I was very pleased with my order. I got the hot & sour soup again (very tasty), crab cheese wontons (thumbs up!) and the sesame chicken again (much better than last time). Notably, the sesame chicken was much more flavorful and ever so slightly spicy - we can handle the heat over here so i wouldn't be mad if it was a little spicier. For super fast, good Chinese food with friendly service, Foo Yung Express passes! We ordered take out and it was pretty good but what really surprised me was how fast! I placed the order online and it was ready in 15 minutes! Was it the best I've ever had - no, especially since I got Pad Thai and it was definitely not authentic but why would I expect a Chinese restaurant to have that?! Very clean, fast, good! We had dumplings, jalapeño steak, spicy calamari and parang curry. My wife thinks this place is the cats miao, and I'd have to agree. I would have given 5 stars if there was a little more protein in the dishes. My spicy calamari had tons of onion but I think was lacking calamari. Ok Chinese food. Wonton soup kind of bland. Wontons mushy -overcooked and bless you request extra wontons it's mostly clear broth. Shrimp lo mein was ok flavor wise but again noodles were over cooked. read more

(FYI we ordered delivery and they charge you a $2 delivery fee if you live outside of the 3 mile radius from the physical restaurant.) food came within 35 minutes. The food was still very hot. Ordered the Jalapeño Steak, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and Vietnamese Egg Rolls. (Please note that only 1 box of rice came with our order. Either they forgot the second box or just combined it (to share.) Personally, we wished the rice portions had been separated into two containers. Jalapeño Steak Entree: Very Good Pros: Had good heat but not too much. The vegetables were cooked very well- still crunchy and tasted fresh. Steak was cooked well and was tender.. Average portion sizes. Great tasting sauce. Didn't taste "greasy." Cons: not many. Could have had a tad more steak added. Seemed like mostly veggies. Sweet/Sour Chicken Entree: Overall Just Good Pros: Chicken was fried very well. Just the right amount of crunch to it. Didn't taste soggy. Good flavor when combined with the sweet/sour dipping sauce. Vegetables tasted clean. Cons: Pineapple pieces that were included in the entries had a funny taste/smell. Almost smelled like that been soaked in beer or had been fermented. Didn't take away from the overall meal as we just removed the pineapple. Vietnamese Egg Rolls Appetizer- Overall Very Good Pros- Included 6 "rolls" and Included Rice Noodles, Dipping sauce, Cucumber and Tomato slices. Very good appetizer! Crunchy egg rolls. I found this place to be an average Chinese take out place. While the quantity of the food is large, the food doesn't taste any different than anything else that is eaten before which was also average We've eaten only once from here, and I don't miss it .. the spicy eggplant, is not spicy at all - may be they would amp up the spice on request. The Thai green curry - lots of veggies, which was good, although, I didn't find anything special about the flavor. Also, this was not spicy at all as they mark it on the dinner menu. Stumbled across this little gem today while driving by. Came back for lunch and wow, was I glad that I did. Food was fast, hot and delicious. Service was friendly and the place is clean. I'm from the east coast and this is the second time we tried this place. I don't know if I was spoiled out in NJ but wasn't a fan of this place. It's hard to say but it's like the ingredients are different out here. I've had the lomien noodles and they are really eggy and bland. For some reason they don't have pork egg rolls? The general tso chicken you get half the container filled with peppers, mushrooms, and squash? I'm paying for chicken and getting half the dish with vegetables. The general tso dish is average but overly sweet. And they have no idea what fried rice means. It's not simply taking steamed rice and throwing it in the wok with oil. It means you fry it with egg, some bean sprouts, onion or some other veggies. The crab rangoon is an odd texture. The food here is just underwhelming, I wanted to like this place for the convenience of the location but can't take myself to spend this amount of money each time and get really mediocre food for the family. I would say the food here is no different than the average Joe trying to make Chinese food at home, so if that's what you want that's what this is. read more

The orange chicken was pretty spicy, which is fine, however some of the pieces looked and tasted like beef and most pieces were fibery and not very appetizing. The rangoons has little to no filling but had a good taste for what you could taste. Last, the sweet and sour chicken. Disappointing.
