    Green Vegetables in Garlic Sauce
    Harlee S.

On a Sunday around noon, we stopped by for some lunch and were surprised that no one was inside as the other restaurants were busy. This establishment is definitely small. It's not catered for big groups and can only fit about 3 people per table comfortably. Once we sat down at a table, I noticed lots of fruit flies on the inside windows. The area didn't seem clean and I was watching my food more than eating it. The food was not up to par to other Chinese places I've been to. There was hardly, if any, flavor to the fried rice. I ordered the green vegetables in garlic sauce and the veggies were good, but didn't taste like garlic at all. Also, the sauce was more like a soup as the to go box was overflowing with it. Another thing I want to note is that it was hard to communicate with the staff. I asked the guy if the green veggie dish came with fried rice and he said no so I ordered an extra fried rice. However, when I got the meal it did come with fried rice and I had way too much food. I also think he charged us extra for an appetizer we didn't order. All in all, I was really disappointed with this restaurant and wish that it lived up to its name.

    Beef and broccoli

Average at best. It'll do in a pinch. Stay away from the classic fried meals like sesame chicken and general tsaos. Beef and broccoli is good and the wontons are good too. Keep it simple. Not my favorite but not the worst I've had either.

    Ma Po Tofu

This is my review of the Beef Chow Fun and Ma Po Tofu, I haven't had anything else here. I just wanted to say I love the authenticity of this restaurant, and the no MSG!!! That already won me over! The chow fun was made with the fat noodles, Chinese style and there was a large amount of tofu in the Ma Po Tofu dish. The price is very reasonable for the Niwot/Boulder area, they even provide the hot tea complimentary. I liked their get-to-the-point type service, no coddling or trying to butter you up. You order the dish, it gets served, you pay and leave, no fake chit-chatting. This means, it's a great to get in and get some work done, being unbothered, and then leaving after a meal. A quick go-to place. :-)

Probably one of the most consistently good Chinese places in he Boulder/Longmont area. Food is priced cheap and portions are huge. Lunch specials include the amazing crab wontons! I've tried several main dishes...from chicken to vegetarian and nine have disappointed. Tonight when I was in to order a dinner to go and was debating getting a small soup...decided to save the money and skip it and when I got home I saw the lady included it for free! Such a sweet gesture. If you're craving Chinese this should be your go-to!

The best kept secret in Niwot. Check it out! You won't regret it.

We were greeted with a smile and offered seating as soon as we stepped through the door. Our orders were taken in a timely manner by our friendly server. I ordered sweet and sour chicken, egg drop soup and fried rice which is a $ 1.00 upgrade from white rice. My friend ordered sesame chicken, hot and sour soup and white rice. My sweet and sour chicken was delicious, generous portions, lightly breaded, flavorful with thick sweet and sour sauce. The fried rice was fluffy and very possibly the among the best fried rice I remember. My friend also liked the sesame chicken which I sampled and can verify that it is very good. The service was efficient and friendly with just the right amount of interaction. The place is clean, comfortable and laid out allowing for maximum seating while not feeling crowded. The prices are fair for today's inflated dining environment. The food was very good and the portions were generous. I will no doubt be back sometime in the future to enjoy the food at Sun Cafe.

Mandarin "Spare Ribs" were not ribs, not even close. It is chopped pieces of pork deep fried and sauced. There were a couple with flat bones because of the weird cut. A Hidden Gem in Plain Sight…read more Dined-in, and this place truly feels like a hidden gem. This was my third visit, and I'm already planning my next. The staff are incredibly friendly, and you can tell it's a family-owned and operated spot. It's simple and unpretentious--no pretenses, just good food. The flavors are bold and comforting. I ordered two dishes: braised beef brisket and beef stew with wontons. The braised beef was the standout for me--sweet and savory in perfect balance, with meat that melted in your mouth. The beef stew with wontons was delicious as well; the beef was tender, and the broth was clean, rich, and refreshing--great comfort food for a cold Colorado day, or any day. My wife tried the chicken pho. The broth was smooth and revitalizing, and the chicken meat seemed freshly hand-pulled. She enjoyed it immensely. If you're looking for solid, flavorful food in a welcoming, no-frills setting, this place is hard to beat.
