there's a reason this place is usually empty. They bought a billboard on 1st street claiming they have the best sesame chicken. I went the next night to pick some up and it was awful. They are sharp chunks of batter with or without chicken inside. The pieces that did seem to have chicken in them had skin or some random bit of garbage slices. Tucked away in the strip mall that is located near the Hays Market in Johnstown is this gem of a find of Chinese restaurant. Huang Garden restaurant came highly recommended by our daughter. So, we decided to give it a try. And we weren't disappointed. The dishes we've tried there so far have been fantastic and delicious! They definitely don't skimp on the meat by throwing-in a bunch of vegetables to mask things. The portion sizes were quite generous. Everything we've had there so far have been fresh and oh so tasty! We liked it so much that we've now been there several times. I highly recommend their sesame chicken, sesame beef, orange chicken, orange beef and Mongolian beef. I am sure everything in their menu is great but above are the dishes we tried so far. The above dishes, except for the Mongolian beef, were fried in very lightly coated batter and fried to absolute perfection! So there wasn't a thick layer of dough masking a thin sliver of meat (some restaurants use this trick to stretch their meat). The Mongolian beef was cooked just right to juicy perfection; seasoned to absolute perfection with just the right amount of sauce, onions and black pepper. Even the red dipping sauce they serve you with fried wonton strips before your meal comes was delicious. Instead of your sugary red-dye sauce, this had a pleasant yet slight hint of fresh ginger. Very disappointing experience as I ordered online, choose the time for the food to be ready, and I still waited 15 minutes once I arrived. My meal was very bland, my husbands was not correct, and they are charging a convenience fee of a couple bucks on top of me leaving a 15% tip. Lesson learned on this one! read more

My wife and I were walking around old town Johnstown today. For lunch, we decided to go check out Huang Garden Chinese restaurant for lunch. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly hostess/waitress. The ambiance of the restaurant was ok. Not very impressive. But I was very impressed with their menu choices. They also have Vietnamese, Thai, and Japanese food items. Also, they have some Gluten Free food items. I decided to order the lunch special Sweet and sour pork. It came with soup, egg roll and fried wonton. Ot only cost $12.00. Pretty good price. I really enjoyed the sweet and sour pork. I will definitely recommend it. My wife has Gluten allergy so she ordered the Gluten Free Chicken Pad Thai. We noticed that the pad thai was VERY saucy/soupy. See picture. We didn't really enjoy the pad thai too much. It was way too saucy/soupy. We won't order the pad thai dish again. The hostess/waitress was very friendly and attentive. If we visit old town Johnstown again, we will definitely go back to this restaurant and check out their other food items. read more

This is a COVID-era review. The restaurant had limited tables available for seating, all employees wore masks and gloves, condiments are in single serving packs, and they tried to increase the intake of fresh air into the restaurant. The food was delicious! We had Drunken Noodles (combination) and Orange Chicken (lunch). The portions were very large so we ended up bringing quite a lot of food home. The only minor grumble that I have is that the don't offer chopsticks at the table. I probably could have asked for some, but I didn't. read more

Was looking for some Chinese takeout while visiting Medical Center of the Rockies. I didn't realize that this place was over 20 minutes away. But it was worth the drive. We split the Orange Chicken (the litmus test for Chinese takeout) and it was hot, fresh, and tasty. Enough left over for a small snack later. We have ordered food here for many years and the quality has always been good! Food has always arrived piping hot and in large quantities! We always have enough for leftovers! Delivery can take a bit to get to the house but is always hot when it arrives. Mongolian combo is good and Kung pao triple delight is good too. read more
